It could mean that they used to look like the after pic, but after they got a relationship, they stopped working out because they achieved their desired goal.

It could also mean that people have individual preferences for exercise, and some just like to do it consistently.

What are you trying to say, exactly? Tall guys are better-looking than short guys? Attractive women want tall guys more?

It's no surprise that "largeness" is attractive in nearly all animal species because it signals more of a threat to predators and prey, which translates to better protection for those in their "inner-circle."

Depends how fat and depends how short. Tall men can carry some extra pounds quite well. I personally value height over muscles. If he's full on fat though, his height will not make up for it.

Same with being short and muscular. If he's not too short (I think you said they were between 5'8, 5'10?) then he can make up for it with fitness. Get much shorter than that and no amount of muscles will help. Better target extremely short women.

Ultimately I think there are too many unknowns to draw meaningful conclusions from your work picnic. What are their faces like, how long have they been together, how are you defining the women as better looking, what are the dudes personalities or jobs like, etc, ect.

The most important thing you missed from your comparison is their facial attractiveness, which without obvious flaws (lots of acne, scars, very fat/rotund face) you're in no place to judge anyway.

I think that to many women the after picture is a turn off. She may like looking at him, but realize that dating him would not be a good idea because he is obviously into fitness, and if she's not similarly into fitness she may feel pressured to keep herself super fit for him, or she may feel like they have not much in common.

What a lot of people forget about dating is that dating isn't just about "they're attractive" but "do we go well together"

We don't actually GAF about either in isolation. We like men who make us feel feminine.

I mean, is this really news? A guy who is a lot shorter than me, makes me feel huge and ultimately masculine. To add to that, a guy being too skinny is actually worse than a guy being overweight, for the same reason (at least for me).

This is not to say that it's impossible for a guy who is shorter than me to be able to make me feel feminine but frankly, it's rare that they've developed the game required to compensate.

You don't have to be 6 ft tall, you don't even have to lift. You just have to make that girl feel that you're more masculine than her.

1) could be their height, though TRPers here are quick to call fairly normal-height guys short, so it may not be that at all (depending on if those guys were actually short). regardless, plenty of women here have said they prefer a tall guy though, so that's not an outrageous revelation.

2) could mean that no one cares that much about super muscly dudes, too (despite TRPers insisting otherwise). if they're truly short guys, the fact that they're that muscle-bound screams overcompensation to me (and signals a potentially shit personality too). this can be the case with taller guys too, of course, but IME, is especially true when the guy is short

Height trumps weight. At least for me. I'll take a 6'2" dad bod over a 5'9" jacked dude. But that's just my preference. I'm almost 5'9", my dad was 6'5", and I don't want to be taller than the guy I'm sleeping with.

I'll give you my take as a 6ft tall woman who has been friendzoned by more than one guy taller than me and asked to play wing woman so they could throw some game at a short chubby chick:

People want to feel true to their gendered stature.

That's less weight and more height. Forget that in my case there would have been much less neck strain for a hug or kiss, it's just not familiar for a tall man to be eye to eye with a woman.

For most women it is not familiar or desired to be eye to eye with their man.

Lucky for me I had good luck with confident dudes around the 5'10 to 6' mark. Even dated a guy who was 5'7"... although he said holding my hand in public made him feel like he was out with the babysitter. Oh well.

It seems like the internet has a weird obsession with height and it matters much less in the real world. Granted, I'm not particularly tall (6'1"), but I never felt like it made any impact on my life at all. I don't think anybody treats me any differently or whatever, and I don't care how tall other people are myself.

My theory on this is that men enter into relationships with floozy ass women for the ease of access to sex. The thirst is real and the dating market fucking sucks. The incentive to settle with objectively average women is seriously strong.

The hotter the girlfriend, the more demands and requirements you have to meet as a man. There comes a point of diminishing returns where for 1 point higher (such as HB7 to HB8) the economic and emotional investment required by men skyrockets into orbit. For many men, it simply isn't worth the effort and/or they don't have the economic capacity/potential.

It is just random distribution at some point. And you are probably seeing that men with high SMV settling with women who are average are doing it because the emotional and economic investment is low and the stability is high.

Height is more important than weight, as long as the ratio is in tact/the weight is distribution is more spread out. If the tall guy looks weak with a massive gut? yeah, thats a no. Tall guy with more if an ottermode build ( think broad chest, large arms and legs, no noticeable belly with clothes on ), hes not out if the running. If he has good other values to bolster him like status, money, or good social skills, he might be viewed as a catch.
