I think about this sort of thing a lot now that there has been a mainstream resurgence of Marxist ideology in the political and social atmosphere.

Most of the dialogue in these social issues, generally, can be boiled down to its baser visceral motivations. And I wouldn't have quite gotten this far without the help of a lot of the comments and posts in /r/MGTOW. Despite their attitudes, I think they're still a pretty sharp group, and they provide a lot of insight to inform our discussions.

What they did, was they started steel-manning the opposition to their movement, by analyzing all of the criticism and flak they receive, and they observe in media. What they say is that they're ultimately accused of selfishness. This doesn't sound like a harsh accusation, but I've come to understand it is ultimately the root cause of all negativity toward TRP and the manosphere.

TRP allows men to get girls without the messy commitment or emotional hangups of traditional relationships. That's pretty selfish.

TRP can evolve into a MGTOW type of outlook on life, which ultimately removes them from the grind of contributing to society in a traditional way; they keep what they work for after taxes, and call it a life. That's relatively selfish; only contributing what they absolutely have to.

This male-centered selfishness causes people to feel pretty uneasy. Now, if it was women being selfish, it probably wouldn't really matter that much, because society has been centered around female selfishness for so long, that it's deemed normal. Women want babies, women want economic commitment and support through marriage, and they want a government to fall back on if things go sideways. Women got all of those things. That is to say, men provided those things. After Feminism came, women started wanting even more.

Male selfishness is brand-new. And we're not talking about patriarchal or corporate greed, because women stood to gain in those situations, whether they want to admit it or not.

So, for the sake of discussion, I offer you "male selfishness" as the root of all evil that triggers so many shades and tints in our self-identified spectrum.

And as a bit of primer, I'd like to say the only reason I believe this is in any way "scary" to women or society in general is the implications. Men who no longer participate in the woman-centered lifestyles implies that men are needed to perpetuate it. The reality is, men are going to be just fine being selfish. But, women are not going to have a very easy life (anymore) if that happens. It implies that women are less capable of survival, even in this day and age. Otherwise, what's the fuss?
