I argue that the average straight women prefers masculine men. The typical features and behaviors of masculine men such as wide shoulders, jawline, height, dominance seeking, assertiveness and competitiveness are the result of higher levels of testosterone in men than in women.

Men's much higher levels of testosterone is the driving force behind social conflict and the formation of hierarchies such as patriarchy. One could even argue that patriarchy is a fundamental characteristics of our species. What causes it?

Since the dawn of our species females on average have a shown a strong preference for sexually dimorphic men (those who look and act typically masculine). As a result women have been selectively passing on the genetics that makes men taller, stronger and more competitive. Patriarchy isn't just a cultural phenomenon, is it quite literally reproduced by the mating habits of heterosexuals. This way the genetics of patriarchy get passed on over generations. While intra-sexual selection exists, it is no where near enough to explain sexual dimorphism within humans.

The great irony is that the sexual selection of most women has given rise to masculine men and their higher levels of testosterone allowing them to seize lower power over weaker men and all women. Tragically it is the sexuality of straight women that has led to their own oppression. Women have been betrayed by their own sexuality over the course of hundreds of thousands of years.

In the end having a masculine man who can provide for and protect his women and their offspring will always lead to better development of their offspring causing her to select those men out of individual self-interest while simultaneously increasing the power of men in total by reprocessing the genetics of patriarchy. It is most unfortunate that the individual reproductive interests of women are incompatible with the collective interests of women as a whole.

TL;Dr: Women do sexual selection. They selection masculine men who then end up oppressing everyone.
