Ok, I want you to please carefully consider these points before you try to CMV. These are not individual points, they compound. I backed them up with sources published by peer reviewed journals when possible, and with reasonable suppositions where that was not possible

  1. Male preferences: "Men have evolved to exhibit a desire for chastity and sexual fidelity and an abhorrence of promiscuity in long-term mates" (1). Also see (2). I know it may be hard for women to understand why this is so important to men, but you cant deny its a huge factor, so please take it into in very high consideration when answering. Virginity, low body count and chastity (a history of sex only within long term romantic relationships) are things men prefer in women

  2. Male effort and focus: Sex doesnt "just happen" to the average man (or it does only once in seven blue moons), he has to actively make efforts towards it (Do I really have to source this one?). Therefore its reasonable to suppose that if hes looking for a long term relationship, casual sex wont fall on his lap, and because the preferences regarding short and long term relationships differ (3), even less so if hes focusing on improving his long term relationship prospects instead of his casual sex ones

  3. Male prospectives regarding women: Most women are not marrying when virgins, so chances are a man wont find a virgin wife (4) (the CDC data says only 25% of women had 0 or 1 (possibly the husband) premarital sex partner. But... they are only counting married women, so these are only the women that managed to marry, therefore the overall percentage of virgin women available is lower). With casual sex being more common (even though it apparently declined over the last decade, still social acceptance for it is more common than ever), its also harder to find a woman that had never had casual sex (couldnt find a source for this one, because every study I found was about "had casual sex last month/semester/year" with numbers varing from 20% to 60%, but I guess its reasonable to suppose the average guy isnt managing to marry a chaste girl). Also for women its much easier to have casual sex than for men (again, do I need to source it?), and they prefer to do it only with the hotter guys (again see (3)). Dating apps are one of, if not the most, major ways people connect sexually and romantically with other people today. If the data from every dating app is to be trusted, be it Hinge, Tinder or OkCupid, the 80/20 rule has validity, which means a few men get a very high body count (think West Elm Caleb), most men have low ones, and women in general have a moderate to high one, so chances are the guy will be paired up long term, when he settles down, with a girl with a larger, perhaps much larger, body count than his. At this point, remember about point 1 please

  4. The advantages of someone who gets casual sex vs someone who dont: A lot of threads here agree with the fact that women make relationship material guys wait for sex but fuck casual sex guys fast, so even if we all disagree if thats right or wrong, I guess we can all agree that this happens significantly. Because for men its harder to get sex than for women, its reasonable to suppose that for men its easier to turn a casual sex situation into a relationship than to turn a platonic friendship one, because the looks barrier (see again (3)) is already broken, and therefore its reasonable to suppose guys that can have casual sex have an easier time getting relationships than guys that cant

So, with these in mind, my position is: the average guy has only incentives to focus every dating energy he has on casual sex for as long as he can, and no incentives to focus on long term relationships
