I usually try not to match with more than one guy on dating apps at the same time because I like being thoughtful and remembering things from his profile and what we’ve chatted before and I hate ghosting (both ways)…. But in the last couple weeks I’ve been ghosted by so many men that I then just try to match with one more and then the next one also ghosted me and then rinse and repeat so that now I’m being ghosted by about 15 guys

I am using 2 dating apps:

- Feeld, that lately I’ve been thinking most guys there are too crazy for my taste, then I’ve added to my description that I don’t like dominant men in the hopes that I don’t receive so many pings from wildly incompatible men anymore… but I don’t have the courage to write there that I only like younger guys, so I continue receiving a lot of advances by much older men there :/ all these incompatibilities make me check Feeld less, but this app has some positive sides like: I can have an anonymous profile not showing my face and using an obviously fake name and I still get likes and pings

-hinge, that I feel is probably the best dating app, it allows me to see guys that liked me and it allows guys to send me a first message answering one of my prompts before I even see his profile. I’m mostly trying to match with the guys that liked me and especially the ones that sent me a message (though of course still only accepting the ones that I’m attracted to, I might already be lowering my standards a bit, but I think I shouldn’t lower them too much)… I think there’s a problem that is: the algorithm is probably only showing me profiles of muscular guys (and I’m not even into muscular guys), probably because they get more likes and matches from other women, but I don’t want that! I don’t want to be one more woman fighting for a few minutes of attention from guys that are too successful!

My hinge settings are already quite restrictive, I’ve put a very small age range and a 10 kilometres radius, and I’ve put that these two settings are deal breakers (because I really don’t want older guys even seeing me and I definitely don’t want a guy that lives far away, though unfortunately there’s a bunch of men that travels and then I still end up matching with some that are temporarily near, but when I chat I find out they live far away 😕), so I’ve been hoping that I’d be able to see all the options with these restricted settings, but I still get the impression that hinge only shows me the top muscular guys… or could it be a bias that most men that dare use dating apps nowadays are the muscular guys and the skinny ones don’t even want to try and have opted out of dating apps?

Maybe the Valentine’s Day and the skiing vacations many people are having now have made my problems worse and I feel I’m spiralling down with empty matches and ghostings…

Do you people think that dating apps are dying because they have already screwed the modern dating culture too much and left too many people soul crushed? Could the holidays really be making things worse or should it be the opposite?
