No, as people don't usually have relationships for the purpose of physically making a child in the first place. They tend to want to love another person and, if they do want children, to have someone to raise them with. I doubt many would choose to be old and/or single parents and/or have loads more children than they can handle even if they had the choice. It'd be a great resource for couples to use though.

Many men want children, but what they want to end their loneliness and misery is sex, not babies. If you gave every single, sexless man a newborn, it would perhaps occupy their time but they would still want love and sex from another person. And I'm not limiting the need for human affection to men either. I was single after my divorce, and I had a baby, but I still wanted male companionship.

No because men still want women to cook, clean, raise their kids and have sex with them. Artificial wombs would allow men to have their own kids sure but men don’t want to do the work of raising their kids or be inconvenienced when they have to call out of work because their kid is sick.

The ones that don't would be fine, but I doubt many would be single dads on purpose the way women would decide to be a single mother if they don't meet "the right guy"

I think artificially wombs would go a fair way to increasing the birth rate and encouraging young women to have children (provided that it wasn't prohibitively expensive to access them). For men and women who want children, this would make it easier for them to pair up and achieve that aim together.

Additionally, a lot of women resent the fact that the biological and social cost of having children is sky high for them in comparison to men. Leveling the playing field would help to reduce the resentment and make forming relationships with men a low cost and low risk activity.

In short, it would certainly help end the struggle between the genders, but it wouldn't address the biggest complaint men have about women, which is that they won't have sex with them. This would only help the men who complain that women won't settle down.

I cant see how this changes much. You can currently buy a surrogate if you have the means I can't imagine artificial wombs being all the much less expensive. Rich people will always have more options.

Artificial wombs would cause lots of effects. First they will likely be very expensive and slow to adopt. Many people would fear the child will have birth defects or can randomly drop dead. So this type of tech would be used primarily amongst the adventurous rich. After a couple of years if these children start becoming successful and famous, then it will start appealing to the general public. However there will still be the debate whether these children were successful because their parent was rich or because he/she was a designer baby.

Women may support the technology because it frees them from the burdens and risk of child birth. Men may support the technology because it provides them a means to have offspring without a partner. However, I don’t think this tech by itself would resolve the issue of loneliness and lack of companionship.

What it will do is it will give both sexes more options as reproduction is no longer an issue in a relationship. So some women may become more polyandrous, while some men will no longer select females based on their fertility. Put this together, there will be more couples and marriages without needing to worry about having children within the women’s fertile years. Now on the flip side, this technology negatively impacts young fertile women as their natural fertility is competing against this technology, as wealthy men who can afford this technology will no longer have to consider fertility as a factor in a mate. This may push women to focus more on their careers than on their relationships. However, men who can’t afford such technology get further pushed down the toltum pole as there becomes less available fertile females in the dating market, echoing what we are seeing today. The question then becomes will young fertile women start marrying poorer men, as they are groups who’ve both been displaced by this technology?

Next there will be the debate of designer babies, and ethical concerns of using genetic reproductive material. Like, will their be the equivalent of sperm banks for wealthy single men looking for donors? Not to mention the risks of accidental inbreeding if too many people choose the same donor. And also the abortion question, what if a person wants to cancel the incubation before the child was even born.

No, women would claim it is kind of a inhuman thing or something on the like, that babies need a real mom or some shit. But some women would embrace it.

Still I doubt we are even close to that. Remember the guy that got a pig heart, he died and no one knows why if the heart would be compatible and worked for a while and animal tests proved it was possible. Now I imagine similar obstacles if we create artificial wombs for humans.

It will not. Primarily because the technology would be cost dependent. Even in developed nations. Even subsidised. For the majority, cost of reproducing artificially, won’t financially be an option. As the alternative is, and always will be cost effective.

No. People aren't lonely because they can't have children, they're lonely because they can't find a partner.

This is the more likely outcome. A ton of women, and some men, would resort to this opposed to just finding a partner to raise a child together which is statistically proven to have better results.

I don't see why they would be even more than they currently are with birth control. Again, I think the majority women want monogamous emotional relationships, not to be part of a harem. I think it would make people even more equal and removing "ulterior motives" from relationships, they would be even more based on reasons like mutual connection and love. It is always better when people have more freedom and are together (or apart) by choice, not necessity.

I assume no person today who truly loves their partner does so because of their ability to have kids

The main thing artificial wombs would effect are the number of women that marry because the bio clock ticking, couples divorcing over not being able to conceive and adoption.
