Let’s look at some statistics:

Pretend for a second that dating apps had an equal amount of men and women, instead of being male dominated. Why would they still be bad?

  • People lie on their profile, wasting your time

  • About half of people using online dating are already in a relationship. Some of these people are cheaters, and others are just messing around without intending on dating anyone

  • 1 in 3 women have had sex in a first encounter with someone from a dating app. Apparently, 80% of them skipped condoms. This is one reason I don’t take Redditors seriously when they say “women fear pregnancy and STDs”. Random women I barely know from the internet will skip condoms with me. People are looking for casual sex, but guys have to take initiative with condoms at least 80% of the time.

  • Lastly, people are just creepy, especially men. Lots of creepy or dangerous people like to use online dating.

Tl;dr: I don’t care if half of new relationships start online. The other half don’t. Go meet people literally anywhere else. They will probably be better looking, friendlier, easier, and more compatible with you. Personally, the only use I got out of online dating was learning how to sleep with random sober women in a short amount of time with some trial and error, but that’s not going to be super useful if you already have a big social life and women flirting with you (which is by far the better alternative). Additionally, most hookups tend to involve alcohol anyway, which is also a lot easier if you’re into that.
