Hi Heresmokethis,

thanks for your supportive post. Yeah, I kind of panicked this morning when I read people's very negative responses and decided to delete it before more people would see it.

Still new to reddit, so I was suprised to see that people had somehow still been able to comment on it. I then sat down and wrote a long reply to people, but when I tried to post it, I couldn't because it was deleted. Aaah, all this new technology! Anyway, the response I wrote follows below:

"Well... Gotta say, all this downvoting and debate came as quite a surprise, but I appreciate your comments and your feedback.

Let me make my standpoint on this very clear: there is a world of difference between resistance and token resistance. Resistance should immediately make you stop!

Then there is token resistance. From the many negative responses, I’m guessing that many guys have not heard about token resistance before. It falls under the LMR category. 'Token' is defined as: "something that represents, expresses, or is a symbol of something else" (From: http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/token.html).

When I write that she put up verbal “token resistance to not appear too easy” but otherwise followed my lead (playfully even, since she was actually smiling as she offered her verbal resistance, as I did note above), this is exactly what it means.

I guess I should have included in the post, that early in the make-out she asked me what I was trying at… and that answering her flat out “to make love with you” did not make her leave, but I did not foresee the strong reaction the post would cause.

Probably all guys who read my post have been in heavy make-out with a girl and at some point tried to take of her bra, but found she resisted. Then he went back to caress her again, kiss her, smell her. After a while he tries again and this time she lets him take it off. She's still not comfortable letting him touch her further, or even look. So you don’t touch her, and you don’t look, but you kiss her again. Two steps forward, one step backward.

You take another two steps forward, and then you take one step backward to make sure she’s comfortable with the new level of escalation. – Are you being Machiavellian for doing this? Or are you just being another guy escalating towards love-making, like guys always have been?

When your girl first resists a little as part of LMR but eventually gives into you, should I consider that sexual harrassment? Well... truth to be told, it's difficult for me to say, because I was not there, and I can only take your word for what happened, and nothing more.

Admittedly, there IS a grey zone where many a guy has become convicted because he did not read the signals correctly and failed to establish where the line was. Contrary to what some people may like to believe, I did not cross it, and you will notice how I explicitly stated that in this situation you should wait until she’s comfortable, because otherwise you’re a dick (and pardon my French).

When I set out to write this post, it was to demonstrate what TOKEN RESISTANCE can look like and to make people aware of its existence. If you were not aware of it before, hopefully you are now.

And do be very careful you don’t mistake TOKEN resistance for REAL resistance! IF YOU’RE IN DOUBT, STOP IMMEDIATELY!!!"

Also, the guy being a crossdresser isn't a big deal, don't start talking about that. If he likes what he wears, cool. He's a bitch, but that's unrelated to his dress.

Look, if you want to call out the guy who made the thread then fine. But making fun of him for cross dressing is completely unrelated and petty. I understand your frustration at the situation but lets try to leave the personal stuff out of this.

That being said, I agree with you heresmokethis and the OP. Posts on this forum should be up to interpretation and discussion, and unfortunately with the karma system, this system doesn't always work in controversial instances. I have a serious problem with Courage Wolf and other meme-type stuff being put up because they're not discussion oriented and go against what this subreddit should be about.

However, the women who were angry at this post deserve to feel that way. This concept can be completely mishandled and end up with an instance of rape, which is absolutely unpardonable. Its a very controversial topic, and while there are undoubtedly some girls who offer resistance as a sexual come-on, there are just as many who actually mean it. Its a fair discussion topic, as we all know that women can be confusing as hell, but I think its OK for the women to be at least concerned about it.

He was actually nearly spot on.

Most girls put up small amount of resistance. The amount of times I've turned a no into a yes is just not even worth counting. A small no is often more like a not right now. Go back, build up more comfort and arousal and try again.
