We were already fighting regularly before COVID. Lockdown just forced everything to the surface.

My dad died during that period, my brother and I weren't allowed into the hospital, that hit us hard, he got depressed, I had to get him out of it. The anguish I felt and the sadness has now been used against me in the divorce.

For whatever reason I suppose it helped push her to the end

I thought we got along great during lockdown

We each had separate areas for our home office (tho mine was set up in the family room and I sometimes had meetings as late as 8 pm starting)

Maybe it was the isolation from Her work friends. Especially those she hid from me?

I thought we were in the best place together that we’d been in years

Yes and no. There were problems for a very long time, probably the entire time, but for quite a while she was building a life of her own that didn't include me. Had it not been for covid we likely would have held onto that paper until we died, but living fully separated lives including fully separate homes. I feel like covid broke those plans. For that, I am grateful.

Solely? no…. was it a huge contributing factor? 100%. We battled through my ex’s postpartum when our 2nd was born in 2015. I really thought we were on the upside of handling it… then bam- Covid hits… she went batty… couldn’t handle being “stuck” in the house (even though she was a stay at home wife/mom forever- but this was different obviously) I continued to work so I didn’t have the lockdown syndrome (actually more hours and weekends which later on became part of the problem). She got sucked into all kinds of Social media garbage and just had her mind warped as to where our relationship was at… then when things “opened up” so did she (by f&@$!ng other people) I was blind to it, thinking she just needed space after the torturous run through Covid… boy was I wrong.. Anyway, here we are- Divorced and she’s talking houses and marriage with someone else already. I’m 💯 that had Covid not happened we would still be together. She is 180 from the girl I married, and it all happened in that time span.

It was actually a bit of a blessing. It really amplified our problems and tipped the scales toward divorce. She's probably still be shoving me around the house and finding Warcraft boyfriends if it wasn't for COVID.

Honestly I think so, our son was conceived and born during Covid. During this time, I wasn’t allowed to any of her doctor appointments, ultra sounds, anything. I was however able to be at the hospital but not being able to be there during those 9 months turned into her believing I wasnt there for her at all which of course wasnt my fault at all, it was the world we lived in. But yeah our marriage fell completely apart during that time.

Didnt help her co-worker was hitting on her and probably promising her stuff which sure looks a lot better to someone than taking care of a 2 year old girl and a newborn who was had colic.

My ex at the time worked for a software firm that became of very great interest because of covid. Centered around how people communicate, and everyone and their dog wanted to buy them out for big money, which ended up happening. Her work environment was very stressful, for several reasons, and covid pushed her stress levels to the max. She started seeing a therapist for stress management and they suggested that maybe her husband played a roll in her high stress levels..... which she ran with completely.. blaming me for everything.. That quickly pushed our marriage off the cliff. If not for covid we likely would have lasted several more years.. granted there were several issues in our marriage to begin with, but covid accelerated the downfall immensely.

Totally . Missus had psychological issues for about 4 years before that were controllable while in employment and therapy - a combination of job loss, corona lockdowns, enforced proximity and psychosis with family issues around childhood with her parents led to hell and divorce and temporary homelessness job stagnation and epic cost and hassle and trauma my side . I “won” still healing and rebuilding.

Better off Alone . Even the best discipline planing and resourcing can be thrown into chaos and destruction by a determined Lonatic . *

*side note - broken health system (esp for mental health), defunded legal system, incompetent/ suspect / feminist policing and corona measures are a lethal cocktail even if you’re competent I’m sure there’s 1000s who ended their similar experiences living in the equivalent of a box thinking “what just happened to my life.” It’s Raining on My Furniture is a Thing.

Pretty sure it ended my marriage by amplifying my ex's anxiety to full blown panic attacks and a desire to 'escape' isolation by going wild. Soon as she was vaxxed, she started partying until 4am, cheating I'm sure, and 2 months later asked for divorce.

Was probably a contributor. Relationship was already on the rocks pre-COVID, but the pressure cooker of all that together time kind of exacerbated it.

Specifically, I was out-of-town over the holidays when my ex and all of her family came down with it. I opted to stay away, and caught holy hell for it. It made no sense to me to put myself in a COVID hot zone just to show solidarity.

Yes. We both worked for the same company, competing vendors, product marketing at a distributor.

I suggested she put her desk in the spare bedroom so we're not both on proprietary information calls at the same time for our competing vendor lines.

She never left that room. She ate in there, she slept in there, she worked in there, she played games with friends online in there, and she literally only came out to grab food or take a shit in the back room where I was.

Almost immediately we went from "not having sex due to health reasons on her part but being intimate" to "we are roommates who sometimes tell each other 'I love you' (I always told her I loved her up until about 6 months ago. It took her 3 months to notice.)

She came into the master bedroom the night after my birthday, asked what was up because she felt I was off.

"I want a divorce. I'm done, I threw in the towel. I'm out. I'd rather be alone because you rob me of my solitude but give me no peace or comfort."

We finalized it Wednesday. And now I'm really alone. And it honestly sucks just as bad.

I'm 35. I wanted kids of my own. But now I feel like that window is closing fast on me. Gave up a good chunk of my life so far to just have it thrown away like that by her lethargy and laziness it seems.

No, but as someone who started proceedings right before covid hit and then having to hunker down for like a year and a bit with her.. man that sucked and was miserable after a while. Felt bad one time when I called her a nitpicking cunt or soemthing a little too loud and I'm sure my kid heard lol

Yep- great question. COVID ended my marriage. 18 years of a fairly happy marriage, then it hit in 2020. My STBXW got involved with believing a lot of the conspiracy theories, we basically became people living in different universes. I will admit I did not handle the nonsense that she believed well. I argued, called her crazy/demented. I just wanted my wife back. But yes I made some mistakes (arguing).

Hindsight 20/20 I’ve done ample amount of reading regarding people who believed these types of conspiracies and arguing is not the way to handle it. It’s too late though, we are divorcing. We are just very different.

We separated shortly (in the same house) before COVID but it certainly made things worse. My parents were in a nursing home, so I took all the precautions I could to keep from getting sick. She (who believed COVID was a conspiracy) mocked me in front of the kids for wearing a mask and later getting vaccinated. I found out later she got covid during that time and didn't even tell me. My parents have both since passed away (not from covid). We are just waiting on the house to sell to finalize our divorce. I am still working to repair my damaged relationship with my kids.

9 days... I was laid off for 9 days when things exploded. We were in a bad place already, barely holding it together when together...

I had broached divorce in April '19... Filed June 2020, finalized May '21.

We were not in a good place before COVID, but we managed to get along fine, despite weekly fights. When lockdown began, going out to walk the dogs was allowed, so we started going for walks with our dogs, and it seemed to get better, we walked holding hands, until one day she told me for the first time she wanted a divorce during one of said walks, out of the blue.

We were not so good before. Then my son got diagnosed with autism in January 2020. We could handle it with all the services and then March 2020 everything shuts down and we get no service and our son regresses. All he does is cry all day unless he is eating and stays up almost all night. I’m tired and spankings happen because they is what I learned growing up. Honestly I hated life for almost a year and I became an unhappy person and she was unhappy as well.

Once things open back up she decided to be more outgoing and go on girl trips. She considered my work travel trips and even start using the term work trip. I said no work travel. She liked the money, hated me and didn’t think I noticed her using me as a babysitter as she pursued a separate life. Text messages told me that she was being mischievous on her girl trips. No solid evidence of cheating but she lied so much that I started going crazy so I decided it was time to end it May 2023. I gave her the MSA and she filed 1.5 months later just to say that she filed.

Definitely a contributing factor to mine. Simply, it was too much time together. Something that was totally fine for me (spending time with who I thought was my best friend) but unfortunately it led to a twisted and jaded view of me in her eyes. Of course there were other factors that ultimately led to the divorce but I most definitely attribute covid and the lockdown as a major one.
