While I agree that these women are all incredibly beautiful, i think we all know that most of us don’t have the money to spend on decades of fillers, tucks, and other revamps that these women do.
That being said, we also all personally know women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond that are still gorgeous and still being chased by LVM.
There is no wall. Let’s just not compare ourselves to millionaires/put them on a pedestal as the standard of beauty.
Editing to add: theyre chased by the same LVM who claim women hit a wall at 30. And they’re also chased by HVM 👑

My aunt is a plastic surgen in LA and she gets B and C list celebs and tons of wannabe stars. The amount of money spend on treatments and procedures by these women is crazy and they are not even super famous! Fillers everywhere (lips, tear troughs, cheeks, chin), eye brow lift, mini-face lifts, botox, microneedling, chin implants, jaw shaving, forehead reduction! These procedures are painful, expensive and need a lot of upkeep forever.
I don't hate myself so much. I am happy to do basic skincare like sunscreen and serums. No way will I subject myself to such torture.

I have never met a woman with healthy self-esteem who gets plastic surgery. You do you, but I would never get it done. Almost always these women hate themselves and think these procedures will get them men or keep their husbands from leaving. Cringe.

If it makes HER happy and she’s doing it for HERSELF, then what’s the problem? Women doing things for themselves doesn’t mean it’s always for men. Just because it's a choice doesn't mean there was nothing societal or commercial influencing that choice. There's definitely more pressure on women to get PS than there is for men. Men don't get "daddy makeovers" or nose jobs, butt fillers at the same rate since society doesn't have the same physical beauty standards for them.

“Hate” is a harsh word to use. While some women may get plastic surgery to look more appealing to men, there are still many that do it to feel more comfortable with themselves.
The issue is less on the individual woman’s desire to change her appearance and more on how society constantly tells us that beauty is our only value and yet we are still never attractive enough.

Eh I just do it to look like the best version of myself. I know what self-hate is like because I spent most of my life doing just that, and I’m at a point where I really like myself now. I’m not interested in attention from men (or anybody really), so a lot of time I downplay or try to hide my body and go without makeup while I’ll ‘mire myself at home. To each their own, I guess, but zero regrets.
With that said I do understand that there is a lot of pressure to look a certain way, but IMO there’s a difference between an adult trying to look like an imaginary prettier sister vs a 19-year old IG model with an onlyfans account who has the generic fillers and nose job. Even though I’m not really comfortable making assumptions about people there either.

I promised myself a while back that if I wanted plastic surgery when I was older, I would first spend that much on therapy and see if that wasn't my problem first, see if I still wanted the plastic surgery. I can't tell you how many times that self-promise has come up and I've never come close to spending as much on therapy as I would have on surgery.

Some women have shoes. Some clothes, some cars. I clip coupons and drive a minivan so that I can get fillers, lol. It’s worth every penny to have people guess my age wrong by 13 years. $300 every other year isn’t half bad. microneedling isn’t painful at all. I bought one at Walmart for $5.

Absolutely agree with all your points. My mum is 52/53 (eeek worst daughter I can’t remember!) and she looks amazing! People don’t realise she’s my mum. No one tries the whole “are guys sisters Schlick” but they don’t think she’s old enough to be my mum. She’s never had any kind of cosmetic or surgical procedures. Good genes I think and a chemist brand moisturiser. 😂

Yes. I was just talking to someone about this today when they brought up how beautiful Jennifer Anniston is. I was like, "yeah when you can afford the best of everything: food, healthcare, housing and support, you become healthier. The fact that a lot of people don't get this is ridiculous. Also plastic surgery is very common with celebrities whether they admit to it or not. They can afford to and they're in the public eye. Of course they're going to do it!

I don’t agree here.
I don’t think this is a good argument against ageism, nor should it fall on these altered photos celebs with access to copious amounts of “anti-aging” treatments. Women should be able to do what they want to do with their bodies. I have friends (20s/30s) who are undergoing misguided preventative cosmetic procedures to uphold the idea that they “won’t age”.
With that being said, I agree that the wall argument is nonsensical. There is nothing wrong with aging and the natural process of our skin.

I’m curious what procedures you’re referring to. Like Botox and filler? I know that young women are getting filler and it’s a terrible idea. They end up looking like older women trying to look younger. Think Kylie Jenner. Filler IS good for older faces but it’s very expensive to keep up. I was just thinking recently about how much it’ll cost me if I keep doing it. I kinda think putting that money toward vacations is a better idea.

Yes, from Botox to fillers and certain laser treatments. My friend hosted a botox party for her 30th. My coworker had a mini facelift (she looks great). I got roped by my esthetician friend and a bought one of those expensive LED facial mask things (spoiler, it does nothing 😂)

Hi, I have a question about fillers and I hope you don’t mind answering it :)
I have deep set eyes and very hollow undereyes and I hate it. There’s really nothing I can do about it because it’s just pure genetics. I thought about getting tear trough fillers to make that area more plump. Do you think that’s a bad idea? It’s the only place where I would consider filler though!

I got under eye filler and I have no regrets. My under eyes began hollowing out once I turned 29. It’s not cheap but it’s way less than what you might spend at idk Starbucks in a year. Mine lasted for 1.5 years and I got a small touch up (half the filler amount this time) just last week. I probably won’t see my doctor for another year. I also got my lips injected 1.5 years ago and they still look amazing. I’ll probably go again next year for a small touch up.
Fillers are different than Botox btw - Botox lasts 2-3 months. Filler, depending on what kind of filler, the doctor’s skill, and how your body metabolizes it, can last years.
Yes if you get your face pumped full of fillers and Botox like Kylie Jenner, you’re gonna look bad. But what she got done is thousands of dollars.

Yes. You never want to overfill anything ever. Any good, experienced doctor will know this. I don’t know where you are in the world but under eye (or tear trough) is usually 0.25-0.5ml under each eye. Lips standard is 1 ml. Look up the consultant clinic if you want to see good filler work. That’s where I got my lips done, they look amazing, just a slightly bigger version of my previous ones. Also got under eye filler done there once but I have a doctor closer to me who does good under eye work.

Watch out for RealSelf. It’s slowly morphed from being an actual reviews site to a paid advertising site. Unfavorable reviews are removed. And some of those “XX % of people raved about this procedure” are complete bs
Your best plan of action is to research doctors near you, consult with the ones you like, and go with the one you feel you trust
At my dermatologists office, his PA does most of the cosmetic work. She’s an expert, it’s a big part of what she does every day. Also very honest about turning down requests that may give unnatural looking results, or minimal benefits

I’ve had filler there. It helped a bit but not that much. I too have very deep set eyes. I think it’s a very hard area to “improve”.
It’s obviously your choice what to do with your body but I think 19 is far too young to be considering something like this.

Yes. And any of these procedures changes how you look at yourself. When you get filler in one place, you’ll start to think you need it elsewhere. You see “flaws” that you never noticed before. I’m glad I’ve done what I’ve done but I really don’t recommend it for younger women.

Before you get too excited about what this stuff looks like when it goes right, be sure you know exactly what the risks are and what might happen if it goes wrong. Filler can migrate. Your body can react to it badly and cause it to get lumpy and weird-looking. There's a risk of infection, which can lead to permanent issues like scarring. Especially when you're talking about fillers next to your eyes, complications could impact your vision. There are quite a few known cases of suborbital fillers causing blood clots that led to permanent blindness.
Most of these procedures go perfectly normally with no complications at all, but you should always know what happens if it doesn't, and decide if that's a risk you're willing to take. Just because these procedures are common doesn't mean they're entirely risk-free.

Those blood clots can be completely avoided if the filler remembers to pull back before injecting.
You can actually get an injection just kind of under your eyebrow and it will pull the muscles up on it a little bit.

My mom (50) is completely natural and freaking gorgeous. She never wears any make up, but she likes beautiful clothes and she is really stylish, and she keeps her hair long (imagine beach waves hairstyle). We randomly met some of her clients today (she is a nurse in an elderly home) and they couldn't believe I was her daughter, they said she must have adopted me lol. And she also told me how she overheard two of her clients talking, that my mom has great legs and then they reasoned that's because she hasn't had kids YET. My 50 y.o. mom, lol.
It's the mindset ladies. She has always felt comfortable in her body and she has never feared aging. I've never heard her talk about herself bad. And I'm so grateful to have her as my role model, it really helped me to feel confident and that's why I never believed scrotes when they tried to neg me.💛

I agree. Physical fitness, eating mindfully, and a reasonably positive disposition are a huge part of the battle. My MIL is 82 & her hair just started going grey in the last year. While some luck was involved, a lot of it is what she does & does not. She's from a SE Asian country & has always led a more active lifestyle. Her attitude is amazing. She still works PT, is super social, and is just the kindest, most upbeat person. She's had her fair share of hardships in life, but as she once explained to me, "I just decided to be happy wherever I was." You can tell she's not 40, but most people think she's in her early 60's, max. She wears high heels, can get up & down off the floor with no issues, etc.
Queen Elizabeth is a good example as well. She's out there riding horses on the regular at 94.
Eta: Cannot believe I forgot about Patsy Cline's bass player! She's a distant relative of a coworker so I knew vaguely who she was but had never met her. Then one day this older lady in a black leather jacket and purple hair comes up to the jewelry counter to ask me if I can help her try on one of the little carded silver rings. As I'm snipping the plastic that holds the ring she starts explaining to me how fast rings wear out for her because she's a musician. I squealed like a little girl & said, "wait! Omg! I know who you are! You're Patsy Cline's bass player!"
I held up my pre-Xmas jewelry counter line as long as I could to talk to her. She's amazing. The first woman to be sponsored by Fender guitar. She's still recording music more or less full time & gets more offers to play than she can accommodate. She's in her early 80's & rides a motorcycle around town, wears fashion forward clothes & jewelry, & alternates pastel hair colors. In retrospect, I so wish I 'd just walked out of work & gone with her to get a couple shots of whiskey & our hair done & asked her to adopt me!!

Yes! This sounds like my grandma. She’s not with us anymore, but until the ripe old age of 74 she was dying her hair pastels, wore mini skirts, and stilettos and wore whatever makeup she wanted. She could be quite savage tbh, but I’ll always admire her ability to not give a fuck what people thought and just do whatever she wanted. She was under 5 foot, and still had the best legs in town at her age, because she always looked after herself. It’s funny too, one of her favourite songs was Frank Sinatra’s “My way”, and she certainly lived by that too.

Don’t let media fool you into thinking fillers and Botox, etc, is this magic potion that can make you look instantly better.
In other words, don’t slack and think that these treatments/surgeries will save your ass when you’re their age.
Tons of older people get fillers/Botox and still look like shit cuz they don’t take care of themselves overall! Those types end up looking weird and puffy. 😂
Its not a magic treatment that brings back your looks, it’s the self maintenance overall over a long period of time.
These ladies were pressured to look good on camera because it’s their job, you can bet they are extra high maintenance since a young age.

I for one cannot get ENOUGH seeing older women on screen. I'm captivated. I'm as enthralled by it as I was peering up close at my lovely grandmother's lovely soft skin and her lovely scent. When I see older women on screen I am simply enthralled by the depth of character their faces can show, and nuance, and just the aesthetics of the beautiful parts of age really moves me. Most ppl feel the same way, from what I've read about viewers, except for the notoriously pervy dudes who crank out everything we watch LOL. But the rest of the world also prefers seeing interesting realistic people any day over the plastic ones.

What really gets me about male celebrities like Dicaprio is that I still remember watching the Titanic as a teen, and then also later in Inception he looked fine. If they took care of their bodies (which includes their mind, so mental health should be included) they could look almost as good as female celebrities. Biology is even on their side, even after they hit the wall, men can shed fat and build muscle more easily than women.
The odds are all stacked in their favor, and even then they still can't keep up or deliver.

To be fair these women are all Hollywood actors who make a lot of money and get paid to look younger than they are. I’d really like for us as women to accept aging as a reality and as a mark of wisdom and time well spent on this earth. Wrinkles can be beautiful just as the rings on a tree. I’d love for us to move away from seeing our own value and worth as one with our appearance. That has to come from us and not from men. We have to rediscover what it means to be goddesses and wise women.

Even though these women are rich and have the money for cosmetic procedures, I even observe this in real life. My mom is 56 and she never used cosmetics nor had any procedures and she looks 20 years younger than the men her age.

Almost all do. Sandra Bullock adopted hers, so that’s easier on the body. I think Nicole Kidman had a surrogate for one, but I’m pretty sure she’s also given birth. Salma, Halle, Julianne, JLo, Cate, Julia have all given birth. Being rich makes a huge difference in how you age.
