You constantly hear women say this in response to men complaining about how hard dating it is for men, or sometimes out of nowhere. It’s really sort of bizarre how ubiquitous this phraseology has become, that there is any significant number of (if any) men who actually think this.

I think one of the common supporting arguments they make to support this narrative is “taking a girl out to a nice dinner isn’t an exchange for sex.” This is a gross misrepresentation, men get upset that women would accept one or multiple fancy dinners with zero intention of pursuing anything romantic. Obviously if there’s no chemistry or the date doesn’t go well no one is under any obligation, although the idea of buying a girl dinner for a first date is sort of antiquated and ridiculous anyway.

Nevertheless, this is only one such example. I see this statement bandied about far more often independent of the context of buying a woman dinner. It is almost always sort of a knee jerk reaction to men grieving about how picky and stuck up women act in response to genuine attention attempts to strike up a conversation or get to know them. I am NOT just talking about “ugly” or even average guys, women will eye f$&k the shit out of you then go cold when you finally work up the balls to approach.
