I've never read something so close getting how fucked up things are yet so full of denial as to fail to take that final step over the line.

Like the fucking door thing. Most men, I know I do, hold the door for anyone, man or women alike, so do most women. It's just common fucking courtesy. Getting any feminist thoughts here is just plain wrong, period. There is no excuse, having these thoughts are just wrong to have, period, and this is just one example. If you get upset, even a little bit, if someone holds the door open for you, you are fundamentally broken, and incapable of looking at the opposite sex without bias and have a lot to work out before you should be dating anybody.

[–]bigdtbone 143 points144 points145 points 4 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

“Men holding doors for women is super sexist and infantilizing!”

“I’m a dude and I hold doors open for everyone, it’s polite. Also, people, both men and women, frequently hold the door for me when I come just after them. I would say it’s very evenly split. If you made me guess without doing a study I would say men and women hold doors equally.”

“I’ve never seen a woman hold a door for anyone! And I certainly never have.!”

“Huh, sounds like you are unobservant. And a bitch.”

[–]Angryasfk 70 points71 points72 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Apparently if you have a woman following behind you, you have to let the door slam shut in her face otherwise you’re “super sexist and infantilising”. But somehow I think if this happened to them they’d claim it was sexist too - not seeing a woman as a real person worthy of respect or some such garbage.

You can never win with these people. Hmm, maybe that’s why men aren’t approaching her!

[–]Manux005 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No matter what you do it will be viewed as sexist. Sounds like the best option would be to climb through the window.

[–]Breaker-of-circles 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"What, are you practicing climbing through unsuspecting women's windows?"

[–]lookathismonkey 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What I do is push the door as I'm going through it so that it stays open a bit longer. No complaints yet

[–]Whitified 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just ignore women. They can't accuse you if you don't say or do anything

[–]denvercaniac 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't give a fuck anymore. As far as I am concerned women are on their own.

[–]Whitified 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My rule is I open the door in Asia and ignore women in US/Europe.

[–]Over_the_Void 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've had a few women seem generally upset that I've held the door open for them. And a few more walk right in without a single nod of human solidarity, as if holding the door was my job.

Mostly though, the world is full of normal people who say thank you because they recognize it's just a nice gesture one person does for another and means nothing esle.

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Indeed that’s all it is mostly: common curtesy! It’s ironic that so-called “social justice warriors” seem to be unable to comprehend this.

Feminists seem to be desperate to find offence though, and that’s the issue. You’re in the whatever you do, or for not doing anything at all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You can never win with these people. Hmm, maybe that’s why men aren’t approaching her!

Yeah, seriously. It's not helping our natural biology of having to approach to date. And women often don't want to approach men. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that’s the attraction of feminism is that it says women should and are “oppressed” if they can’t.

[–]jasonrodrigue 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Stop caring what they think and what they say. You’re welcome. If they are going to be rude and have an attitude and be mean to you and not care about how they are treating you, they don’t matter. That means if someone happens to them much like when Peter Parker was cheated of his money in the first Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire, “I don’t see how that’s my problem”.

[+]ifisch -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Lol this entire article is just pandering to MRA's, telling you what you want to hear, so you'll click on the copious ads.

No woman really gets angry when a man holds a door.

[–]Any_Drama3272 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Lmaoooo my exact thought too. I was like yep they’re totally preying on dudes who have shitty experiences on dating apps. “Here we totally get you, click this and give us your money.”

[–]TextDependent6779 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

hey, for those so used to everything pandering to them, one thing pandering to others often feels like being ignored.

[–]Any_Drama3272 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have noticed there’s a rise of cult like tactics and behaviors to take advantage of people and the sentiment of ‘someone notices and understands me again’ when really this someone gives no fucks and just has their own agenda.

On one level, I sympathize because it’s a really challenging adjustment, but on the other level I wish there was a way for these people to support each other and use each other for understanding with genuine intentions behind it, without someone jumping in and trying to invent an enemy to manipulate for profit and gain.

It sucks to watch, and it’s not fair, but largely there’s not really a solution despite wishing there was one.

[–]TextDependent6779 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

No woman really gets angry when a man holds a door.

well, i can tell you that's just an incorrect statement.

[–]ifisch 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I mean like a real woman, in the real world, not a hypothetical woman invented in a message board.

[–]TextDependent6779 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

i mean like, I've held the door for women, in the real world, and gotten shit for it.

so yes, it happens, rendering your statement untrue.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps it was “no sane woman” gets angry over a door being held open for them!

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cr@p mate. I heard a feminist academic go on about how she finds it merely curteous if a man holds the door open for her if she’s following him through. She said this to indicate that not all feminists take this attitude: which means she encounters such women all the time (which she would as she gave feminist history courses). Make no mistake these women are real, although thankfully a minority.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You mean no sane and decent woman does. There are women who totally absorb the most ridiculous feminist nonsense (ie “Big Red”) who do take it as a personal affront. I’d suspect they also would get offended at some guy letting the door slam shut in her face too.

These crazies are all too real I’m afraid. Just be happy if you’ve had the luck to not encounter them, so far.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be honest I’d suspect that she’s pandering more to male feminists who want to know how to approach women like that without “offending them”! No MRA would want to date such a woman enough to play such a game: and as she’s already indicated that she writes off any man who’s not “woke” to the latest feminist agenda, they’d be wasting their time anyway!

So I’m pretty sure it’s not MRAs this is aimed at but male feminist/woke types.

[–]Starmind0 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When people talk about opening doors for others as an issue, I always hope they mean the norm of telling men to open doors for women, because that IS sexist against men. But of course, they say women are the ones discriminated against in that situation which is completely false and the exact opposite. It's disgusting.

[–][deleted] 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I’ve had coworkers instinctively hold doors open for me and then immediately apologize and say, “I’m sorry, I know you’re perfectly capable of opening doors, I meant no disrespect.”

I immediately let them know that I DO NOT take offense to that and no one should and it’s just a nice thing to do for someone, then proceed to hold the next door open for them. I feel so bad for the level of anxiety this must cause for some men who are literally just out there trying to be nice. WTF?

FWIW, as a woman, I love when a man holds a door open for me whether on a date or not! It’s sweet! I say thank you! Please don’t buy in to this garbage, the women who get offended by this do not represent all of us. Ugh. This is why we can’t have nice things.

[–]Aardwolfington 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I do right by people regardless of idiots. I help anyone I see needs help when and where I can, especially the elderly, handicapped or those with full hands, even rushing to do so if necessary. Any woman who would take offense to having the door held for them has issues, and I'm not going to stop holding the door for people regardless of the occassional idiot, so don't worry about that. I have no patience for such people. People hold the door for me all the time, I say thank you, any normal, well balanced individual would do the same.

[–]FourFsOfLife 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Aardwolfington lol what a great name

[–]SapperChimo 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The women who do take offense are also the ones to run and complain to HR and try to ruin a Man. We can't just ignore them, so get ready to keep opening your own doors and no longer enjoy the courtesy that Men show only to women.

[–]Angryasfk 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sad but true. These crazies are dangerous.

[–]Wylanderuk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I hold the door open for anybody behind me and if some woman gets the hump I just let the fucking thing go.

It has happened but not very often.

[–]Whitified 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Very irresponsible of you to ask men on the internet continue to risk their reputation because you find something "sweet"

[–]TextDependent6779 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

she's not asking men to risk rheir reputation by opening doors dude.

she's literally just saying she thinks it's sweet. she said nothing about how you should continue to hold doors open. she literally said these kinds of women are the reason normal women can't have nice things.

[–]Whitified 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Since she know there are crazy women out there who make us all can't have nice things, how can she still endorse chivalrous behaviour?

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She’s actually condemning these crazed harpies. Give her some slack.

[–]Whitified 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yet she's feeding more clueless men into these harpies. Which is worse:

1) The enemy who hates and seeks to destroy you

or

2) the friend who pretends to be on your side, but pushes you to your own demise for her own pleasure?

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is she? Or is she simply saying they’re crazy and she’s against them?

Plenty of women aren’t nut jobs looking for offence. The trouble is you can’t tell which is which until they bite you on the @rse.

[–]Whitified 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is she? Or is she simply saying they’re crazy and she’s against them?

Is that all she said? Did she not also encourage men to be chivalrous, despite knowing there are crazy feminists out there looking for trouble?

FWIW, as a woman, I love when a man holds a door open for me whether on a date or not! It’s sweet! I say thank you! Please don’t buy in to this garbage, the women who get offended by this do not represent all of us. Ugh. This is why we can’t have nice things.

The irresponsibility here is very clear. Why do you insist on defending this?

[–]Limp-Dee 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s true I always hold the door for whoever is after me at a door that’s crazy the bad apples of the feminists find the littlest things to get upset about men doing and trying to use it as ammo to show how bad men are .

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Which exposes them for what they are.

Why do these nut jobs get pandered to again?

[–]Acousmetre78 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Not to mention I’ve heard my sister call a guy a sexist asshole for not opening a door.

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

EXACTLY!!!

Hold the door open. You’re a sexist ahole who infantilises women. Let the door close, you’re a “sexist ahole” who doesn’t give women the same basic respect that every man gets!

These people will find offence everywhere, and will even make it up if they have to. They should be ignored, but HR and all these feminist groups “empower” them and make life ever more unpleasant for sane people.

[–]Acousmetre78 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The worst part is that psycho women know this and use it to hurt other women too. My sister sees every other women is competition to her. She won’t hesitate to make women feel unsafe around men so that she can be the only one who has a husband.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, I’ve noticed that sort of thing too. I’ve had more than one women tell me the feminist idea of “the sisterhood” is a sham!

It only works in ganging up against men!

[–]SapperChimo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love it.

[–]glodde 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This should be echoed more often and realized by oeople

[–]elebrin 153 points154 points155 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Look, I'm fine with a strong woman, in fact I prefer women who are independent thinkers because that makes them more interesting people in general.

However, if every single thing I do is wrong or offensive (which it is for some women) then forget it. I often feel like I should be walking on eggshells with some women but I absolutely refuse to. If you are offended by something I do or say, then you can sit there and be offended and I do not care. If that is going to be your entire personality, then prepare to just always be offended by everyone around you.

[–]mixing_saws 63 points64 points65 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

just always be offended by everyone around you.

Thats why they are always so angry

[–]Angryasfk 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being angry is “empowering”, don’t you know. As apparently is a woman acting in the ways feminists complain about men acting.

[–]vereorumbra 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yoda once said, "fear is the path to the darkside. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering."

[–]scarheadhp 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Happy cake day

[–]Angryasfk 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s the point though. She’s not really an independent thinker, she’s just brainwashed by manhating feminist theories. She even sort of admits it, and then doubles down.

For her sake, I hope she eventually works out what’s wrong with this stuff before it’s too late for her.

[–]meowerguy 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you said what i always wanted to say.

[–]RProgrammerMan 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m wondering if the ideology is designed to make them offended at everything because it stops them from considering other points of view.

[–]dungeonmonkey69 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I actually genuinely don't think the author is strong or an independent thinker. She's obviously a slave to the dogma of the movement which doesn't exactly scream strength or independence. If she's got zero empathy or sense of nuance for men and their issues, it's bizarre that she expects the same in the name of equality haha

[–]PactScharp 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminist women are the weakest type of women on Earth. They are anything BUT "independent thinkers".

[–]Valfreyja87 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree entirely with this assessment, and I'm a woman. I'm disgusted with the way women are acting these days, so insecure in their own sex that they have to beat men down. Fuck that.

[–]online-wanderer -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like you've been dating girls who atleast feel completely out of your league, so expect you to simp vs "independent" thinkers.

This is my "independent thought" lmao

[–]elebrin 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not even dating. I am engaged. I go on dates with my fiancée, but it's not like I am dating around (in fact I have never done that, I've taken every relationship that I have been in quite seriously).

There have, however, been women who are related to friends of mine, or friends of my family members, who think this way. Ultimately, it's like... what the fuck do THEY care what I think or do? The vast majority of my interactions with women aren't an "I want to date you" capacity. There's only one woman I feel that way about, quite honestly.

[–]online-wanderer -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Does your fiance make you feel like you're on eggshells?

Hmm yeah that is unfortunate you've have interactions with a that many, sortof entitled types.

At the end of the day no one has a monopoly om offense. You have equal right to be offended at their offence. For your own amusement I say start having offended competitions with the entitled ones.

[–]elebrin 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does your fiance make you feel like you're on eggshells?

Absolutely not. She doesn't, her sister doesn't, her mother doesn't, and her two living aunts don't, and none of her male relatives do either (although I surprised her father a bit, we are actually pretty good friends now).

None of her family are people I wouldn't want in my life. If I couldn't get along with all of them, We wouldn't be getting married. She has one cousin that she has no relationship with whatsoever because of a family slight from 30 years ago on her mothers side, but it is highly unlikely that I will ever meet them.

I actually spent a lot of time vetting her family and getting to know them, and I ensured that she spent a lot of time with my family getting to know them. Family is VERY important to me, and if she didn't get along with her family and wasn't able to get along with mine, that is honestly one of the biggest red flags that a relationship can send up.

[–]NutsLikeMelons 127 points128 points129 points 4 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

I literally do not talk to feminists any more. There is no upside and the worst case scenario is getting cancelled or fired. And I’m already married so my risk factor is lower than single guys (theoretically).

Every point she raised which was a problem caused by feminism immediately became a problem men had to solve or get over. Zero accountability.

MGTOW is going to explode not as a movement or a club but as a growing proportion of individual men doing a cost benefit analysis and just saying “no thanks”.

And feminists hate MGTOW more than anything because the idea of it scares the shit out of them deep down in places they can’t talk about.

[–]mixing_saws 49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

MGTOW here.

I get my companionship from my friends. Maybe even a pet in the future, who knows. If i feel the need for sex i order an escort. Compared to a woman that you are in a relationship with, even the premium escorts are a very good deal, without all the risks that come with a regular relationship/marriage. Also there are huge advancements in the sex toy technology realm for men. Try VR Porn in combination with an automatic masturbator that is in sync with the video. Feels almost like the real thing. :D

Do i sometimes long for a romantic relationship with a women? Yes i do, like any other man. But then i remember the huge net loss on my material and psychological ressources, and all the huge associated risks when things go south. Then im fine again.

[–]NegativeOrchid 42 points43 points44 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

There’s little to no benefit to men to even have any type of relations with women in western society anymore. He can be falsely accused of rape, abused, have his kids taken from him, etc.

[–]mixing_saws 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Dont forget the huge drain on his material and psychological ressources. Its a big net loss to enter a relationship with women nowadays. Marriage/LTR is called a plantation for a very good reason.

[–]NegativeOrchid 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Plantation? Never heard of that.

[–]mixing_saws 38 points39 points40 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

It describes a married man that is 95% of his waking time working at his job or at home. While the woman in the relationship contributes almost nothing and is draining his material (e.g. money) and psychological ressouces. (e.g. always shits on him when shes in a bad mood). At some point in time the love goggles wear off and he sees his miserable situation. But he cant just leave his abusive wife, because a divorce will fuck his life even more.

Basicly his wife is his slave owner.

[–]SunosUnix 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thank FUCK im not attracted to females....

[–]mixing_saws 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Enjoy your freedom, im mgtow until society and the legal system stops discriminating against (straight) men. And yes im well aware this could be longer than my lifetime.

[–]Tuddycat 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Amen

I'm super happy to be MGTOW. Indeed a very growing portion of where I live is, hence why we have rapidly declining marriage rates and below replacement level birth rates. It's hilarious seeing the articles, parents demanding ways they can get their sons to marry, women demanding men pay bachelor taxes etc. They even have many shaming words for men who just refuse to get married.

But who gives a fuck. Why would I EVER get married. I have married coworkers. It seems like a fucking pain. The one guy I know who is completely happy is married to a woman with a good job who is happy to pay for her own stuff, no kids, who has no problem with him doing whatever the fuck he wants when he wants. Pretty much has the ideal situation if you were to get married. But like fuck I'd take the risk.

Indeed I just couldn't possibly imagine it at this point. Like... being alone is so natural to me. I have no idea how anyone could possibly sign their lives away to someone vastly more institutionally powerful than them based on a couple of years of spending time together.

Let us not mention that women's happiness is going down decade by decade. Let us not mention that in the 1950s many households could be supported on the man's income alone but now it takes two adults to support most households. Let us not to mention the rising suicide rates. Let us not mention the plummeting birth rates.

Sure, feminism is great isn't it? /s

Ok so this somewhat attractive white woman living in the West believes she is part of an oppressed class. She 's stated that she is a radical feminist, and has written extensively on the subject, she's stated that she's offended by the slightest sexist remark and now she wonders why guys won't date her. No man in his right mind would waste his time with her.

[–]Angryasfk 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes it’s amazing isn’t it: men avoid a hardcore feminist who’s got serious man issues and expects men to somehow solve the conundrum between her personal desires and what her ideology says she should want. Who’d have thunk it????

[–]tipying_mistakes 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

And she foolishly believes that it’s because “now guys have to wrack their brain and kinda figure out how to treat women with respect and see us as whole people.”

Like, we already see you as a whole person when we initially meet you, until we learn about your extremist ways. That’s what causes us to avoid you, not because you’re on our level now but because you’ve brought yourself well below our level and turned into a complete degenerate that we no longer want to get involved with.

“You’re a decent person, right? Oh? You’re offended because my legs are opened a little wider than the norm? That’s barely even affecting anyone, I’m afraid of how angry you’ll get at actual problems. I don’t want to get involved with that, get away from me!”

[–]bottleblank 87 points88 points89 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It doesn’t take much for me to overanalyze a guy’s intentions nowadays.

You said it right there, overanalyze. You're inventing reasons to think they're bad.

I’m starting to get a bit of a stand-offish vibe from guys, like they’re afraid to make a move, and I think it’s because they think that we don’t need them anymore.

Well, gee, Jenny, whyever could that possibly be? Nothing at all to do with fish and bicycles, nothing to do with "strong independent women", nothing to do with telling men that any approach is harassment?

THE BEST DATING/RELATIONSHIPS ADVICE ON THE WEB – SPONSORED

The third advert in this "article", offering no insight and merely funnelling people into a service.

I instantly write guys off if they aren’t “woke” to the current social mindset towards gender politics and can’t let it go.

If that's all you ever talk or think about, I think you've got your answer. Try "being in the moment" and giving people the benefit of the doubt, not being some arbiter of acceptability.

However, women still like to be pursued (at least I do) and it’s unfortunate that by finally standing up for our rights and demanding respect, we’re totally scaring men away.

Sending the message that any unwanted attention is harassment will do that. It's not about not wanting women to get rights or respect, it's about wanting those things back and being treated like human beings, not subhuman criminals.

I think I’ve almost trained my brain to assume ALL men are here to try to put me down and dominate me when that’s far from the truth. I’ve made it kind of an automatic reflex at this point, though.

I suggest therapy. No, seriously.

However, due to the recent boost in feminism, a guy paying the bill could be seen as anti-feminist and no guy wants to be considered a misogynist in this day and age.

I'm sorry, are you suggesting that a substantial amount of dates fail because the man wanted to pay but the woman took it as an insult? Because I'm going to need a citation on that.

Feminism is something I’m passionate about, but I also know how guys can get insecure when I talk about it.

Yes, "insecure", that's what it is. Nothing to do with you being offensively aggressive towards their entire gender or indicating that you're likely to be controlling or constantly nagging in a relationship. No, obviously not.

I’m just pointing out that we’re currently in a sort of “us against them” mentality and it’s gonna take a while until it all smooths out.

Whose fault is that? It isn't mine. I'm not the one putting up posters telling everybody that the entirety of one gender is unable to understand why they shouldn't commit physical or sexual violence or suggesting that if members of that gender should so much as look at a woman they may be criminals and should be ashamed.

I think we’ll need to find a new way to be in relationships without falling into any sort of forced gender roles.

What if we want to assume those gender roles? If we don't, what's the alternative? How should I behave as a man in this brave new world of "woke" dating?

I guess guys are afraid that the way they approach women might offend us or give us the wrong impression. I guess this is a good thing in a way because now guys have to wrack their brain and kinda figure out how to treat women with respect and see us as whole people.

I always saw women as "whole people", but what you've caused me to do is "wrack [my] brain" to think about how stupid this situation is and who's causing it. You're not making men think harder about what women are, you're making them think about the value proposition of approaching you, which seems to be rapidly diminishing under threat of punishment.

Love the article: “Things are terrible, and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened!” And hopefully guys will find someway of doing what they’ve always done but somehow not not upset all these feminist tripwires I’ve set up. Even where she admits she overanalyses and that the feminist feed she gets has brainwashed her, it’s apparently men who are going to somehow solve HER problems caused by indulging in feminist theory.

It’s ridiculous, but hopefully she’ll eventually see what’s wrong with the ideology she’s been sold before it’s too late.

One thing though: “progressivists” keep insisting that “wokeness” is only some right wing (indeed “alt right”) conspiracy theory. Yet here she is specifically using the term an writing off anyone who isn’t “sufficiently woke” under the current feminist paradigm which she confuses with society as a whole. Most of what today calls itself “left wing politics” falls into this.

That entire article is an ad. But I'm sure that radical feminists have a hard time dating. I shit test women on dates to see if they are radical feminists. I ask that if women use way more health care, shouldn't they pay more for insurance. I don't think so but hearing their answer gives me the information I need. Only one women in the last year has considered this question logically.

Because logically women should pay more for health care insurance. But we have empathy and don't want women to suffer.

[–]NoCommunication5976 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism makes it hard to date because it portrays men as sexist and women as stone cold business women who have to manage 5 companies at once and don’t need no man. Ultimately, it creates a divide, because love is not a competition sport. It is about bonding. When a man and a woman are dating in a competition style fashion, it blocks out any bonding.

[–]SunosUnix 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link

Like?

The whole thing reads of self-deception, is full of pointing to herself as the problem, but then "kinda but not really"-ing around it to try and blame males for.... Not being interested in someone who clearly gives off a hostile vibe, because they are and admit to being hostile? She pretty much admits to getting what feminist have been asking for, and saying she doesn't like it.

The only point this article proves, is that the changes they are making don't exist in a vacuum, and the only people who will bother to put up with people like her, are people she puts below her. Much of the same state as feminism in general.

And lets not even get to the ads peppering the page.... It makes it reek of clickbait.

[–]Angryasfk 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. She realises (or is at least semi aware) that she’s the problem, or the ideology that’s taken control of her is anyway. But because she’s wedded to that ideology, she tries to shift the blame, and the responsibility for dealing with it onto men. No wonder she has a “lot of first dates”! She’s pretty enough to get attention, but is so ideologically damaged that she simply drives people away. It’s a sad story really. I wonder how she got suckered into this rut in the first place.

[+][deleted] -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

I think she's fully admitting that feminism causes problems with dating. That's literally the whole point of the article. She just isn't suggesting that we abolish feminism to fix those problems, and I agree. Sometimes, even when something causes a problem, the best solution is not the get rid of it. In some cases it's too valuable to give up, and a better solution is to find something that counteracts the side effects without damaging the original intent.

A good example of this is homosexuality. Sometimes people who are opposed to same sex marriage will bring up the point that gay men are more likely to spread sexually transmitted diseases than straight couples. This is scientifically accurate as shown by a number of studies. However, while I can concede that this is true, I do not believe that the solution is to ban homosexuality. We need to find other ways to reduce STD transmission.

I will agree that the ads are annoying though.

[–]SunosUnix 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Counterpoint: when something presents a large enough problem, and it Is an avoidable one, people as individuals will tend to rightly avoid it. Which os what is happening in the dating scenes.

Counterpoint 2: that is one of those things that is avoidable in multiple ways. None of those ways should be shameful, including abstinence. Yet peer pressure shames those that are.

That is not something that should be shamed. Neither should abstain from interaction with, let alone refusing to dating, someone who is clearly hostile to you, based solely on your gender.

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She’s not only saying that you shouldn’t abolish feminism to fix the problems, she saying that feminism shouldn’t even reform itself or modify some of its stances (like accusing anyone who holds a door open for a woman following behind them as being “highly sexist and infantilising” - surely even you can see what’s wrong with that petty attitude).

Instead she’s demanding that men be fully with this woke feminist program, but act in ways the program condemns because that’s what she wants, but she’ll judge them negatively due to the program. And it’s totally on men (and not in any way on her, or feminism) to square that circle.

Can you not see something wrong here?????

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, she’s saying that she shouldn’t feel offended when someone holds the door open for her, even though it unfortunately happens. Why would she even bring it up if she believed wholeheartedly that it’s sexist?

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She does not say she “shouldn’t feel offended”! She explicitly says that doing so is “sexist and infantilising”. Is there anywhere on this where she says that it’s HER problem, and that SHE (as opposed to all men) need to sort this out in “her own psyche”?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She says it's a problem with feminism. I've said this already. This is a feminist finally acknowledging the flaws of feminism, and you're not even capable of seeing it.

[–]Angryasfk 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Not quite sure why you’re bringing up the homosexuality line.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I bring it up because it’s a valid analogy. The solution to a problem does not always involve directly eliminating the source of the problem.

Would you like another analogy? This one you probably won’t understand as well, but that’s your fault because you didn’t like the first one. In computer graphics, there are a number of solutions to problems that cause their own problems. Antialiasing is a post-processing technique that smoothes those jagged edges in pictures and frames of video games. One type of antialiasing in particular uses data from multiple previous frames to smooth edges in the current frame. This works really well, except while eliminating the aliasing (jagged edges caused by pixels), it inadvertently blurs the image more than usually preferred. One solution to this is to just remove the antialiasing, but then you’re back to square one with jagged lines. The real solution to this problem is an image sharpening filter, which retains the smoothness of the antialiasing technique while eliminating most of the blurriness. The combination of temporal antialiasing and a sharpening filter produces less jagged lines than the original image while also keeping things just as sharp, if not sharper. Feminism can be viewed like temporal antialiasing in video games. It’s a good solution to a number of problems that sadly introduces a few of its own, but that doesn’t mean we should scrap the whole thing. We just need to find the proper solution.

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Homosexuality is a poor analogy. We’re constantly told that conversation therapy and various psychological treatment does not work because homosexual attraction is innate.

Feminism is not innate. It is an ideology that she chose to immerse herself in, and uncritically swallow all the “theories”. She can most definitely rid herself of at least the most extreme and ridiculous of feminist theories. It’s certainly far easier to do than it is for a gay man to stop being physically attracted to another man!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Homosexuality is a poor analogy. We’re constantly told that conversation therapy and various psychological treatment does not work because homosexual attraction is innate.

It's a perfect analogy for that very reason. We can't just eliminate homosexuality, because maintaining it is too important for the lives that it impacts. Destroying the root of the problem (homosexuality) causes more problems than it fixes. We need to find a better solution to fix the problem.

Who's to say that she's not already doing that? The article reads like someone contemplating their alliances. Now when she's on the fence, you push her to the other side??? That's exactly what the feminists did to me! I came here as a response to being banned from feminist platforms and shut off completely from their communication centers. I was a supporter of feminism, but they made me into a men's rights activist with their blatant misandry followed by silencing me for calling it out. I still support positive feminism, because I have seen that before, but I no longer view the movement as an absolute positive like I once did. I like to think that this place is better, but some of these comments are making it look more and more like the other side of the same fucking coin.

[–]Angryasfk -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She’s not on the fence! She’s constantly saying that feminism is the best thing since sliced bread, and how “passionate” she is about it.

At best she maybe starting to wake to the fact that it has had some effects that have negatively impacted on her love life. But she still a) doesn’t blame feminism, it’s apparently mens issues for not wanting to complement them least they be accused of harassment; b) expects men to somehow square the circle for her. The only thing she says she does is not talk about quite so much about feminism on her first date as she is becoming aware that this somehow puts men off.

She is not (yet) seriously questioning feminism, or considering if it has gone too far in any area (even their ridiculous attitudes to holding the door open - which she’s clearly still in tune with).

She’s not “sitting on the fence”. She MAY begin to see that there is something wrong with contemporary feminism, at least to the point that she may realise it needs to moderate its views in some places. But she isn’t there yet. And this is the “contradiction”. She begins to say that feminism has had negative effects, but then absolves feminism of blame, says it’s the best thing since sliced bread and doubles down on feminist theories and says that men have to somehow solve her conundrum.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As for your computer game analogy: it doesn’t hold as she isn’t proposing any modification of feminism or it’s attitudes, much less her doing so, it’s solely on men to sort this out. To use your analogy, it’s saying don’t use a filter, the user should just get used to the image and train their eyes to “sort it out”!

[–]TextDependent6779 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

feminism is a choice.

homosexuality is not.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Irrelevant. The point of the analogy is that both cause problems, but neither solution involves gutting the source.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately since she is a feminist, she doesn't want gender equality.

[+][deleted] -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]Fearless-File-3625 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

All feminists believe in patriarchy and hence are bigots.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No I don't think so.

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She’s reading a lot of theory and has her “feminist feed” which she admits to having “trained her brain” to see the worst possible motives and actions in men. She also writes off anyone who’s not “fully woke”. It’s not very promising is it!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The very fact that she’s acknowledging all of that should already tell you that she’s far smarter than most of them. Most radical feminists won’t admit any of that.

[–]Angryasfk -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She half acknowledges them, but then says that men need to sort this out. And this is the basic contradiction in this article.

[–]Angryasfk 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Pretty good points? She says one thing, and then contradicts it in the same sentence. She admits to overanalysing and having her “brain trained” to simply see men as evil from this “feminist feed” she gets, but it’s the guy’s fault, not hers, and certainly not feminist theory or feminism being excessively biased against men!

She wants it both ways: to be full of feminist woke theories and have any male in her company just follow them, but he also has to pursue her (which is apparently sexual harassment at best according to her feminist feed) approach her and all the rest. The reason why her points fail is because she cannot allow herself to admit there is anything wrong with feminist theory: not even that it’s excessive, or seeks to see the very worst possible in men. Something that she hints at, but can’t seem to draw the obvious conclusion about.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

She’s not contradicting herself at all. You can show support for something while still acknowledging its weaknesses. That’s what she’s doing with feminism. She wants women to be recognized as human beings rather than sexual objects, but she sees how this causes problems with dating because it makes men worried about the idea of pursuing women. It’s not a contradiction with her beliefs, and she isn’t pinning the blame on men. She’s actually saying that she understands why men feel the way we do.

This entire thread is reminding me a bit of that one post I saw somewhere a few months ago making fun of an incel who snapped at a woman for calling him attractive and asking him out. Apparently she was “making fun of him” for being ugly by sarcastically showing interest. This was obviously not the case at all though, and it was just his own bias showing. Even when an incel does get attention from women, he finds a way to brush it off and even turn himself into a victim. When this sub gets support from a feminist, we do the same. She’s literally acknowledging that we’re right on a number of issues, but you can’t see past your “us vs them” mentality.

[–]bottleblank 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

She’s actually saying that she understands why men feel the way we do.

Yet apparently refuses to do anything about that, either individually or as part of the feminist collective.

Apparently she was “making fun of him” for being ugly by sarcastically showing interest. This was obviously not the case at all though, and it was just his own bias showing. Even when an incel does get attention from women, he finds a way to brush it off and even turn himself into a victim.

There is a difference between willingly indoctrinating yourself into an ideology without questioning the harms it might do, to you and to others, and having spent years being involuntarily abused into holding the expectation that nobody could possibly like you for real.

When this sub gets support from a feminist, we do the same.

No, when we receive genuine acknowledgement and support, from women who don't twist everything back around to it being our fault, we generally appreciate it. I don't, however, appreciate hearing "yes, this is a problem, and feminism caused it, but suck it up bucko, that's life now, and you'd better be what I want regardless of mixed or problematic messaging".

What is she supposed to do? She’s one person and feminism consists of millions of people, all who have minds of their own and are not controlled by any source. Like Joe Biden said about ANTIFA, feminism isn’t an organization, it’s an idea. Individuals cannot speak for the group, and each person individually has very little power to sway the herd in any direction.

This was an incredibly obvious case of a woman finding a man attractive and him not believing it because he’s a misogynistic incel who assumes women play tricks on him for fun. There was no indication of abuse in this story, just an idiot who missed an opportunity to finally get a girlfriend. He indoctrinated himself into incel ideology without questioning the harm it might do to his dating life.

She literally never says anything is men’s fault in this article. You’re making stuff up by saying that. The entire article is about how men not approaching women anymore is FEMINISM’S fault, not men’s.

[–]bottleblank 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What is she supposed to do?

She could start by not writing "articles" which are ads dressed up as analysis of dating dynamics, in which she constantly contradicts her own points and spins each one around to justify being a feminist despite acknowledging that it's working against her own interests.

This was an incredibly obvious case of a woman finding a man attractive and him not believing it because he’s a misogynistic incel who assumes women play tricks on him for fun.

They do sometimes play tricks on men for fun. I experienced it myself as a teenager. I'm old enough, wise enough, and mature enough to know that this isn't how every girl or woman acts, but I'm not going to pretend it doesn't do damage. I very well understand how, if any apparently positive attention a man receives from a woman turns out to be a prank, that can cause a man to believe that he is only worthy of being a punchline. The abuse comes long before incels start calling themselves incels or believing that incel rhetoric is truth.

She literally never says anything is men’s fault in this article. You’re making stuff up by saying that.

Then I must have imagined her saying

I’m not gonna go and cry a river for them because that’s something they’re gonna have to figure out within their own psyches.

mustn't I?

So, just don't discuss the downsides of feminism? She's not the one contradicting herself here, you are. Tell feminists to stop worshiping the movement, get mad when they stop. How does that make sense? You and I should be encouraging this kind of critical thinking among the feminist community. I've already explained why she isn't contradicting herself. Acknowledging the downsides of a movement is not inherently contradicting with your support of the movement. I support men's rights, but I can also see how some fragments of the community go too far and become too elitist, often ending up as the very thing they swore to destroy (gender supremacists). This is not a contradiction on my part, just a realization.

They do sometimes play tricks on men for fun. I experienced it myself as a teenager. As teenagers, yes, but adult women generally do not do this. If they say in a serious tone that they like you and would like to date you, they mean it.

Then I must have imagined her saying

"I’m not gonna go and cry a river for them because that’s something they’re gonna have to figure out within their own psyches."

mustn't I?

That was in reference to a very specific point of men thinking that women don't need them because of feminism. She's right not to try to fix it on her own and expect men to fix it because, honestly, we're in the best position to do so for that specific point. It's almost impossible for women/feminists to convince men that they're needed while still being independent. Obviously they shouldn't be beating us while we're down by saying hateful things as some feminists do, but I get the impression that this particular feminist isn't in one of the "I hate men" or "kill all men" crowds. The whole point of saying "within their own psyches" is that it's an internal issue for men. It's still caused by feminism, but it can't be fixed by women unless they drop feminism entirely. No, that's not the solution. As I believe I've already explained to you in another thread, the best solution to a problem is not always in the source of the problem as one might expect.

Tell women to stop worshiping the movement and get mad when they stop?

Are you for real? Reread what she said. She starts to say that feminism is coloured her mind to think badly of men (ALL men), and she sort of sees why men don’t approach her.

But having made a start, does she suggest that she should temper her ideology slightly? No! Does she say she should be more discerning in her “feminist feed”, or at least read it a bit less? No! Does she suggest that feminism should reflect on things and change their attitude in any area, shape or form? No! Does she think she should do anything different herself or modify her attitudes? No! She even insists that holding a door open for someone isn’t common curtesy but is grossly “sexist and infantilising”!

Her “solution”? Men should sort this out in their “own psyches” and apparently do the things that she wants but her ideology condemns, and somehow find a way to square that circle.

Are you for real? Reread what she said. She starts to say that feminism is coloured her mind to think badly of men (ALL men), and she sort of sees why men don’t approach her.

Exactly, meaning that she's opening up to the flaws of feminism.

Because that's not the best solution. I'll say it again. The best solution to a problem is not always found by eliminating the source. Sometimes you need to be more creative. We can't just wipe feminism off the face of the earth, because a number of positive things have resulted from it. You probably disagree with that, but it's a pretty common opinion held by the majority of people, so you're just going to have to work with it even if you don't agree.

Her “solution”? Men should sort this out in their “own psyches” and apparently do the things that she wants but her ideology condemns, and somehow find a way to square that circle.

That was the solution to a single point, not all of them. And for that specific point, she's right. Feminists cannot change the psyches of men. That's an internal issue that only we can fix. Like it or not, that's how it is.

It’s reasonable to want gender equality ...

Perhaps, but the author is talking of feminism, not gender equality.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Feminists strive for gender equality, at least for the most part. As I said in another thread, it depends on the feminist, since they don’t all think alike.

[–]DouglasMilnes 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

I do not accept self-identification. I identify feminism by the actions of feminist organisations, the teaching of feminism, and the writings in the best selling feminist books.

Whatever your concept of feminism is, if it disagrees with all of this you are deluding yourself if you think your feminism is the true one.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Do you identify men’s rights in the same way? If some incel is to write a book about how evil women supposedly are and label it as a men’s rights publication, is men’s rights an incel movement?

[–]DouglasMilnes 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Do you identify men’s rights in the same way?

The struggle for men's human rights is not an ideology in the same way. However, of course I treat all movements in the same kind of way.

If some incel is to write a book about how evil women supposedly are and label it as a men’s rights publication, is men’s rights an incel movement?

If Men's Rights organisations, leading authors on men's human rights, and courses around the world all agree, then it would only be right to define the MRM by them. If some random man or woman - irrespective of the amount of sex they have - writes things that do not accord, then it is irrelevant.

Incidentally, why does it matter to you whether an author is sexually successful?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

The struggle for men's human rights is not an ideology in the same way. However, of course I treat all movements in the same kind of way.

It really is the same, but I get that people here don't really like to acknowledge that. Same with the feminist subs. Both groups are "not like the others" in the most meme-able way possible.

If Men's Rights organisations, leading authors on men's human rights, and courses around the world all agree, then it would only be right to define the MRM by them. If some random man or woman - irrespective of the amount of sex they have - writes things that do not accord, then it is irrelevant.

You just described how feminism works. Random women hate men and hate equality, but they don't speak for the movement as a whole. It is irrelevant in the same way that random dudes hating women is irrelevant to the MRA movement.

Incidentally, why does it matter to you whether an author is sexually successful?

The term incel is used less to describe someone's sexual success and more to describe one's view on women, because historically everyone who has identified as an incel has been pretty misogynistic.

[–]DouglasMilnes 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Incel is short for involuntarily celibate, something many women are complaining about.

Get educated, and stop with the feminist propaganda.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's almost never used for its literal definition. I am technically an involuntary celibate, but I do not identify as an incel. An incel is more about how you define yourself. Over time it's come to be associated with misogyny as more and more men who identify as incels end up being misogynistic.

[–]TextDependent6779 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

It is irrelevant in the same way that random dudes hating women is irrelevant to the MRA movement.

[–]Angryasfk 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And there’s the rub: she claims to be all that, and claims that’s what she wants, but she wants to be “pursued”. So the ideology she is feeling herself is actually against her own nature. She demands to be treated with respect, but clearly doesn’t think she should treat others with respect - that’s seems very common with women as heavily into feminism as she apparently is.

This ideological rubbish she’s swallowing is clearly at odds with her own nature and desires. And she’s taking it out on anyone unfortunate enough to be near her. Hopefully she’ll wake up.

[–]TAPriceCTR 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah. She has already thrown away too many opportunities that won't come again. She'll suffer far more learning that too late the misanthropic cult she subscribed has made her ruin her entire life. My goal is to minimize suffering, not rub it in. Let younger women come to that realization.

[–]DouglasMilnes 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't think it's really matters whether it's a woman or a man. If they are feminist, they are part of the problem and they will be screwing up personal relations just as much as community and social relations.

[–]online-wanderer -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's a fair point, there's feminists and feminists though. People who just want like, womans sports competitions to be fair or equal social treatment between genders. I see as fair.

It's like in this group there's some with fair points and some that clearly have issues with woman. There's good and bad in each camp

[–]DouglasMilnes 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am interested to know of any women's sport competitions where the women's sport and men's sport have been joined so that they can be equal. There are a few sports which have always been combined, notably in equine, but I know of none where feminists campaign for equality in sports with men.

[–]online-wanderer -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Woman are physically weaker, why would you want that? But with transgender, born males joining womans sports, that may be an answer to it.

Well yeah biologically men are far stronger. I think the majority of feminists are being called "terfs" transgender exclusionary feminists. For relaying this biology.

I have to admit I understand why this group has such a bad reputation.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This article is clickbait trash and the author constantly contradicts herself. I find myself agreeing with her observations throughout, only to vehemently disagree with the mental gymnastics she goes through right after. What a dingus.

It does feel like men are walking on eggshells around me and I hate that. It’s a major reason I don’t date anymore. One guy actually asked me for consent to kiss me at the end of our date. I immediately lost all interest. Wtf have we done?

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at the guides put out in Universities: kissing without first gaining positive permission (ie asking and being told “yes”) is classed as sexual assault.

What that guy did isn’t just a reaction but in fact what we’re now told to do. You have to wonder at the mindset and life experience (or lack there of) of the people who write this stuff

[–]Marzy_Meow -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

OMG a person respecting your boundaries and making sure you feel comfortable? Why would anyone want that? 🙃🙃

[–]bottleblank 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As far as I can tell, many women (perhaps the majority, I don't have statistics) - even the author herself - still wish to be "pursued" by men.

They still want to have men be spontaneous and to drive the relationship, to be forward and to impress upon the woman that she is irresistible, to see that a man simply must have her (and only her), to the point of being unable to restrain himself from showing it by physically stepping things up.

I understand the consent argument, but that's not the spontaneity and passion that a lot of people still wish to experience. It takes away some of the spark, the magic, the fuzzy feelings, it ruins the mood and makes a man appear timid and unable to take control.

Extreme consent and romantic spontaneity are absolutely at odds with each other, and the article essentially says so. The author wishes to be pursued and treated like a woman, but acknowledges that she and her ideology simultaneously believe that to be intrusive and toxic behaviour when a man shows it.

You can't expect both.

But feminism is just about equality .. Sexist . Shame. Shun. Predator. Incel.

You are disagreeing with Black lives Matter, so you don't believe that Black lives matter? Racist. Privilege. Inherent evil. Deserves racism. Deserves violence. Shun. Shame .

You don't think 'men' can get pregnant? That invalidates the existence of the molecules and atoms that constitutes their existence and you just caused hypothetical suicides. Blah . Blah .blah .

[–]Sad_Chair8797 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Oh please you're just as dogmatic. Don't you ever get tired of the open irrationality of tribalism?

I can say feminism has done X to hurt men or that that feminism has caused Y to harm society without pretending feminism has never done any good whatsoever. For instance, If not for feminism setting the precedent that equality is societally-vital, you wouldn't have the expectation that feminist women should be held as accountable as you would be as a man .

[–]Whitified -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

...You're saying that before feminism no one held women accountable for their actions?

[–]Sad_Chair8797 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

No I'm not saying that at all, in fact I was careful and specific but just let me repeat it before you just Cathy Newman my opinions;

Feminism has done, will do and continues to do demonstrable good for societies.

Feminism just like Christianity or Islam isn't just one group or interpretation but overall we can distill it's positive and negative achievements and generalize it's relative pros and cons.

I personally think overall in the here and now the leaders and chosen philosophies of feminism are utter cancer and the word feminism will never mean equality, but even less so today. It's a hateful power-hungry crybully cult to me and from what I know most of western society.

But you know what I hate more than a brainwashed narcissistic entitled willing-sociopath forever-victim masquerading as a justice warrior underdog?

Tribalism .

It literally disgusts me when I see a feminist mentally backflip to avoid responsibility, culpability and rationality to smugly hold an unearned moral high ground with a sophistic safe and regurgitated opinion. The only thing worse is an anti-feminist that mirrors that stupidity, never even realizes it and stands next to someone who actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to the feminist oppression of men and collapse of society.

[–]Whitified 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

ok... so what is this supposed good that feminism has done for society? I thought you were on to something about feminism introducing accountability, but then you backpedaled on that.

Or is this supposed good feminism has done for society simply the unequal rights and privileges feminism has given women?

[–]Sad_Chair8797 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link

No I never backpedalled. I painfully explained my position and you ignored it with sarcasm because you're incapable of addressing it or nuance.

How about my first example that we actually did skip past . If not for the feminist movement demanding voting rights, which women didn't want as it meant the draft and bucket duty, women wouldn't be equal citizens in your country which means you couldn't complain and demonize them for not behaving responsibly because they would have no responsibility.

I just called feminism a cancerous cult, this tactic you keep employing only works on sjws because they're just the other side of the coin to you. Feminism today does give unequal rights and unearned privilege. The reason your clunky and basic attacks aren't winning you the argument is because I'm not an irrational tribalistic feminist goon you can berate with easy opinions you never follow through to their conclusion. I see you as the feminist by another name that you are . Feminism is bad and your anti feminism is the same thing standing at the other side of the dancefloor and it's embarrassing . I'm embarrassed for you.

How about we switch the metaphors? -

  • Christianity once stood for forgiveness and salvation, those are good things. But then the crusades happened, so those good things never happened and Christianity is incapable of producing anything good .

That's you. That's how you sound.

[–]Whitified 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

If not for the feminist movement demanding voting rights, which women didn't want as it meant the draft and bucket duty, women wouldn't be equal citizens in your country which means you couldn't complain and demonize them for not behaving responsibly because they would have no responsibility.

So you're saying that before feminism gave women the vote, no one held women responsible for anything?

What exactly did society not hold women responsible for in the past? I don't understand.

Or are you telling me there was a time when feminism supposedly achieved equality for women, but then went overboard?

Christianity once stood for forgiveness and salvation, those are good things. But then the crusades happened, so those good things never happened and Christianity is incapable of producing anything good .

Weird example, don't you think? If I want to say that Christianity has done good for society, I should be mentioning examples of good results that Christianity produced, such as the Judeo-Christian laws punishing adultery & frivolous divorce. Not come up with vague concepts such as "forgiveness" or "salvation".

Are there any such good things feminism has produced?

[–]Sad_Chair8797 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

It's not weird it's just that now I've shifted the same exact argument onto your cult rather than theirs and suddenly you understand nuance. What's weird is how you keep trying to completely ignore the topic and focus on the mechanism of the example rather than the example. You do it by asking a non sequitur. Once again, as I've said twice now, it's not a gotcha to ask someone who knows feminism is cancer what good feminism does .

I'll repeat this over and over because you keep moving the goal post.

A group philosophy that has tangibly, historically and currently does good is not 100% undeniably good or incapable of doing bad . You agree with that, where your neurons won't connect is that that applies to these caricatures you have of certain groups you don't like and have written off .

[–]Whitified -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

You agree with that, where your neurons won't connect is that that applies to these caricatures you have of certain groups you don't like and have written off .

Ok. So what is this good feminism supposedly did for society you spoke of?

You were on to something, first about accountability (??) and then about responsibility (???) but then when I pressed for details you wouldn't explain. Twice now. I don't know why.

This sounds like a problem with their mentality, especially with our actions being deemed as sexist. They seem to have alot of ego and an inflated view of themselves...

Its harder to date because men are fed up and anxious to make any move on most woman due to the current climate of things

When everything we do is seen as predatory, or sexist, Or many woman we have dated have simply seen us as expendable assets, Of course we have have been put off dating woman for the majority!

Im all for independence, but wheres the equality?

[–]Catch-the-Rabbit 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is much more of a HER issue than a YOU issue imo.

I believe it is basic human civility to hold a door open for someone.

I would say I'm a feminist I support women doing whatever they want. If she wants to be a stay at home mom, kudos, if she wants to be a lady who never married, kudos, it's your life

Feminism should go back to it's roots in base line equality, as in assuming superiority is becoming what we so detest.

We need to stop making it an us vs them, like the innies vs the outties. We don't like it...so duh, men won't either. It's like...to some degree there is this assumption that men aren't capable of self actualization.

Which is why I follow this sub, I need to see and understand your perspective

Please hold open doors, please continue to be polite and courteous. Don't let someone else's world perspective poop on yours.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I believe it is basic human civility to hold a door open for someone.

My parents taught me it was just polite to hold a door for people.

Feminism has turned societies standards for polite behavior into a gendered insult. So ok, fuck em. I'll hold doors for men, women had better be ready to catch that fucker swinging closed in their face

[–]DouglasMilnes 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is bad to inflate feminism with women. Personally if I know it is a feminist approaching I will deliberately shut the door on them and it doesn't matter whether they are female or male.

[+]Marzy_Meow -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah feminism isn't about that, white feminism is. I dislike that group of privileged white women trying to use real issues to justify their entitlement. Problem is, it's way easier to strawman idiots like this than actually engage with the more nuanced intersectional ideologies

[–]Manux005 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminism is the best thing to happen to humanity since sliced bread? Is this women kidding me? The first feminism was good. When they fought for their right to vote. Now they just want to be handed everything without taking on the responsibilities to get it. Men had and still have to fight for their right to vote. They have to sign a document that say's they will defend the country if neccessary, if they want a drivers liscense or want to vote. Women are just handed their right to vote.

[–]DouglasMilnes 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In most countries, feminism did not fight for the vote. There is a reason why suffrage and suffragette societies formed independently of the feminist organisations that existed at the time.

[–]Manux005 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

There are still places in the world where women have very little rights, and where they would be right to complain, and here she is complaining about people holding the door open for her.

[–]DouglasMilnes 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Where are these places you say women 'have very little rights' and have you researched independently, or are you just parroting feminist propaganda?

[–]Manux005 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry for not making myself clear. I'm lacking the right vocabulary because english is not my main language. I am not by any means a feminist I meant that they have less rights than in most of western civilisation. In the middle east for example. I'm sorry if I caused a misunderstanding.

[–]DouglasMilnes 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

I was not accusing you of being a feminist and I'm sorry if what I wrote sremed like such an insult.

I still wonder whether you have examined the rights of women in the middle East, for example, because when I have looked into countries, I certainly find a difference in rights but not necessarily an overall inequality.

[–]domnulsta 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Muslim countries in general have issues with gender inequality. Some of them worse than others. Look for example at Iran, Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan.

[–]DouglasMilnes 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You are confusing difference with inequality. For example, in Afghanistan (where the Taliban has already built more girls' schools than the West in all their years of occupation) the man of the household must provide for all the women. Even if a woman has her own income or inheritance, she is not obliged to pay for herself. The 'man' is the oldest male and might be a boy of 9 or 10 - which often leads to him prostituting himself to support the poor, oppressed women.

Matters are not as the feminists would have you believe.

[–]domnulsta -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, they also can't leave the house without their father, brother, husband or at most a cousin. Weren't Taliban not allowing women to follow education properly anymore? Also, weren't they able to stone them to death or execute them publicly if they did simething wrong? I know what you're saying, trust me, I wouldn't trust extremist feminists just like that. But it's simply reality, women are seen as objects there.

[–]DouglasMilnes 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You are looking at things through a feminist lens. More men are stoned and whipped than women. Men have an obligation to escort their womenfolk, pretty much as and when the women want. The Taliban do not believe in mixed education (a lot of educators in the West speak against it, too) and for a while after taking over from the mess the West left behind, they did indeed close all schools (reported as 'closing schools for girls') while reorganization of the schools was undertaken. The West destroyed schools and didn't build a single one; the Taliban already have restarted their interrupted education program.

Whenever you hear how bad women have it ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, you would do well to investigate the reality, both for women and for men.

(I am not Muslim and I am not attempting to justify any policy, I am looking at matters purely from the human rights aspects.)

something that's easily memorable and easily explainable is arranged marriages.

what feminists actively portray as a woman's issue, do you think every guy is happy with his arranged marriage?

[–]Angelmistfit -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Theres feminist and then there's toxic feminism that make the sane feminist look bad

[–]TextDependent6779 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

or there's just all feminism which believes in 'patriarchy'.

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All misogyny men want to use that as an excuse to hate women. There's a fine line between toxic women and then those who truly care about equality. But misogynist men can't see that. They see toxic feminists and believe all women are like that, it's pretty braindead of them.

[–]TextDependent6779 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well, good job im not misogynistic and never blame the individual woman. i can make the distinction between radical feminist.

and i still don't like feminism because of patriarchy theory.

If you think the feminist movement is making it hard to date, you’re part of the problem. Period. Full stop.

I’ve had great success treating women like equals. - who ever gets to the door first, holds it open. - first date? Pay for yourself if it’s anything more than a coffee date. Alternate paying after that. - respect boundaries - BE A DECENT FUCKING PERSON

[–]domnulsta 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's not feminism. That's common decency. You've read the article (I hope). You've seen what hardcore feminism looks. And they are still somehow seeing there's something wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You’re not going to please everyone.

The ones who find something to foul over? Consider it a red flag, and cut things off. Girls who are absolute 10s have been knocked down (in my eyes) because of stuff like that.

Nah, when I started treating women like equals there was no interest. Chauvinism? They started lining up.

Honestly, any woman who would give me a tough time for holding a door open for her has saved me a lot of time. I’m all for feminism but crazy bitches that are hyper focused on any microaggression that we all used to call chivalry can fuck right off. I will treat any potential date like a lady - hold doors open, pay for dinner, drive to pick her up, and even buy her flowers. This isn’t chauvinist. It also doesn’t presume women can’t do all these things themselves. But it’s what gentlemen do. And if that’s offensive, I’m not for you.
