Even if we were to pretend that men and women were equal, women cannot afford to be more irresponsible.

I don’t know if there’s any way to give one answer to this. I will say that during an extremely long dry spell, when I was super horny and sexually frustrated and briefly considering trying to find an ongoing casual sex thing, I was shocked by how many guys I matched with told me that condoms were a dealbreaker for them — as in, they wouldn’t have sex with condoms.

Some did offer to trade STI tests, but without exclusivity that’s dodgy. I’m not on hormonal birth control, so no condom would have been a no-go for me regardless, but the guys didn’t even seem to care about that. It boggled my mind that so many guys were willing to take the chance with a woman they barely even know, and I guess just leaving it in her hands to avoid getting knocked up or get an abortion. Maybe they all had vasectomies, but none mentioned it when I replied the pregnancy risk of no condoms was a dealbreaker for me.

In the end, I didn’t meet any of them and deleted Tinder. For other reasons, I realized that approach does not work for my sexuality at all and I’d just stay celibate until I found a partner organically. But I’m still surprised by how cavalier otherwise responsible-seeming men were about it. I get that condoms suck, I do, but the risk seems worse.

That said, obviously lots of women have sex without protection too, which is why I say I don’t think there’s really one answer. Sometimes shit happens and people of both sexes get caught up in the moment, and some people just don’t take that much care with their pregnancy or STI risk management overall. Probably based on many factors.

I’d say men are more irresponsible here for several reasons:

Men generally score higher in risk-taking behavior -It’s usually men who don’t want to use condoms and rely on their casual partners’ word that they have an iud/are on the pill, while also having no option to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Women have abortions, men don’t, but men still want not to use the only way of contraception that is totally in their control.
- Although young women have higher STDs rates (which can be explained greatly by them having higher risks of catching it due to physiological reasons), men score much higher in HIV, hepatitis and syphilis.
- I’d guess there are more men who go to sex workers than there are sex workers. And that’s pretty risky especially when we talk about countries where it’s illegal
- Stealthing is mostly a male thing to do.

I never go unprotected with clients but those that ask for bare dont know if I always use them or not. They dont know how often I std test, etc.

I remember there was a thread posted awhile back with a study that claimed for both men and women a large component of their willingness to use protection depends on how attractive their partner is. So basically women let guys they think are hot hit it raw and men raw dog girls they think are pretty

All the relevant men, because the way that the current social structure is set up allows most of the consequences to be dumped onto women and low value males (and rest of society for that matter). Also because of this there's no incentive for said relevant men to change their tactics. Because after all, shit works and others get the blame, why change a successful formula?

I know so many women of different educational levels (nurses, teachers, lawyers) who are quick to hook up with multiple guys with no protection whatsoever.

Men have zero sexual rights in western culture, hence by definition they are not able to be irresponsible with their actions.

Women do have sexual rights, therefore they can be irresponsible when misusing those rights and making bad decisions. Hence, women are the more and only irresponsible gender when it comes to sex.

WHAT? You do realize that if she becomes pregnant, the man is fucked and the woman has all the options to deal with it. Men's only way of having sex and being responsible is to wear a condom. Not wearing a condom is completely irresponsible for men, and for women it just means they will use a later method of avoiding an unwanted outcome. Men accept that they are the hands of the woman regarding becoming a father, the moment they don't use a condom, and even with a condom in a best case scenario, it's 2% chance they are at the whims of the woman wishes for children.

Men risk everything, women risk Plan B. And men are the ones who usually push for sex without a condom because they are more willing to take risks and be irresponsible.

I find desperate people make the worst decisions. Men who go long without and are insecure such as myself make bad decisions.

Women who are unattractive conventionally such as fat women are often the most irresponsible.

When your mentality is “I’ll take what I can get” it doesn’t leave room for good decision making.

That said when I have gotten urethritis in the past it was from hooking up with a fat chick that was rebelling from her church. I later found out I was like guy number 7 for that week on like a Wednesday.

I would be interested to see studies on things, but I can tell you that I am usually the one to bring up protection and though I always insist on it, of the people I have dated who are men, most are willing to go without it. When I was 19 I had to teach men in their mid twenties about basic sex ed 101. Some of them didn't understand that there is a reason for condoms beyond pregnancy protection or even how STIs spread in general.

Women are more irresponsible in everything. Men do all the hard jobs, go to war, support their children though forced child support, and can't afford to be lazy. Women can breeze through life without a care because they could easily find a gullible man to support them. When it comes to sex, women are the gatekeepers. A man has to sacrifice in order to have sex...marriage, child support, job, paying for dates, courting, etc. Women can have sex at the drop of a hat because there's always a willing man somewhere. Women don't have to do anything to get sex, except say "yes". And even then they can claim they said "no" and ruin a man's life. No one cares when men are manipulated into having sex.
