Individual people, in cooperation with one more individual and a team of doctors, can create a child, and with genetic engineering (also known as "just filter X/Y semen as you wish") choose it's sex.

Which sex will they decide? It's up to them. I don't think you'll see a society where the government chooses your child's sex.

So yeah, "Society" can't and shouldn't do anything, it's not gradually breaking down.

At most USA will stop being the superpower that it is, and will be replaced by others.

This has nothing to do with "lack of women" but has everything to do with "accumulation of debt".

The “lack of women” you describe is only an issue in infanticidal Asian countries where they have a statistically significant shortage of women. The solution is to fix the culture that encourages women to abort female fetuses. They have tried eliminating dowry practices and empowering women, which helps but some of the subcultures are a long way away.

I think taking away women’s rights will make it worse actually, because families will be even more incentivized to have sons, ie. the only humans with full rights in that society. If those societies had access to genetic engineering, they would probably make sure more men are born! Again, because Western societies have to “respect all cultures,” I say leave them to it, and let natural selection sort it out. It’s not a Western problem.

No, there would have to be a massive cultural shift at a bizarre dystopian level which would definitely not result in a “balanced and fair direction”. The breakdown in any such cultural norms would result in ugly results that almost certainly would not lean towards benefiting the under dog and wouldn’t stop at affecting just one of the sexes.

Balanced and fair has never really been a defining characteristic of society anyway. Look at any other access to pretty much anything (food, water, education, medical care and so on). Is it balanced or fair? Has it ever been balanced or fair? At most, laws and policing will just increase if social unrest increases in any meaningful way.

I don't think so. I don't think that there will be a lack of women per say, but a lack of women who are willing to date their male counterparts. And maybe that will cause a decrease in the birth rate in developed countries. But it probably won't cause society to collapse.

It's not a lack of women, it's too many men. For most of human pre-history there were less men than women. Men died in battle. Remaining males were slaughtered by the winner and the women were taken.

Men are historically disposable and maybe that's not such a bad thing for society as a whole.

I do think we should bias sex at birth to be more like 99 men per 100 women as well.

Men without access to intimacy become dangerous, and we can't force women to fuck them, so we need to find a way to keep them distracted.

We need to make more video games, legalize drugs and develop more advanced sex robots.

Any society with loads of sexless and intimacy starved military aged males will be too unsafe and unstable for everyone involved, we need to make them forget about women and dating to the best of our ability, keep them distracted or let them off themselves/die in wars.

That way we get the undesirable males out of the picture completely, and the top 10% of attractive men can build massive harems and enjoy sexual abundance, and the women can be happy that they got a HVM.
