It’s not so extreme to mean that you have to be the absolute top dog to get women. It’s a spectrum, not binary.

My husband was making $13/hr. at the bottom of the totem pole when I started dating him.

The way I see it is…I stayed with him, loved him, supported him, and was faithful to him during my “prime” (according to the redpill).

In my experience it’s not too accurate. Lower class men working shitty jobs seem to get relationships somewhat easily and have less hang ups and inhibitions. I’ve worked minimum wage food service jobs for years, and only the really awkward guys seem to have no success. A lot of these guys have a “bad boy” edge to them if they’re even a little above average, and get with girls that make more money than them. The rest of them date women “on their level” I guess, who also work at these places or live near them.

I grew up in a middle to upper middle class suburb and the men there seemed to struggle more with basic social skills and were way more sheltered, shy and afraid of what people thought. People didn’t even really date in my town til the end of high school if at all. A lot of them weren’t allowed to or were too focused on school and I feel like that really affected their ability to interact with women even into adulthood.

your understanding of it is wrong, not the statement itself. I work in something like a factory and the low level guys are capable of having as much status as some beta provider supervisor. We derive status in our own hierarchies from our demonstrations of wit, strength, and the value that we provide to a task and to our social circles. Also the degree to which we can get drugs or have fun on any given weekend.

but then, women never even see this hierarchy play out. I suspect it is internalized and manifests to them as our confidence level. Also objectively, the guys who win the status are just more fun to be with.

It determines your "success" mainly in terms of what class you can attract. If you want a high-class woman, to be successful, you should be a high-class man. In general, it's not that important beyond that. They'd be excellent qualifications to give to an employer but you need relationship-relevant traits for relationships.

It's not the status as much as what achieving the status does to a man. Once he overcomes all odds and scales new peaks to achieve something society wants of him, all of a sudden he gives himself the permission to feel confident and to feel proud of himself. It's the fact that he is now proud of himself is what actually attracts women.

I can’t say status indicates sexual success. You can have status and have low sexual success cause you’re fugly. Status is neither a requirement nor a bonus - depending on the individual. However - it can push someone over the edge who is otherwise not-hot.

Example - you’re a tall white dude but maybe not the best in the face. You however are a leader in your social group/scene/hobby/whatever. This is where it could push you from generic tall white dude to chadlite/Chad - within your group. It won’t apply outside of your group.

Getting high social status within your group is important - if your group includes women you want to date. Your example of a programmer being really good at their job is about the most perfect example of optimizing for status entirely wrong. Programmers are almost all men. There are basically little to no women in tech. Similarly - being great at your job in tech isn’t actually seen as an attractive attribute. Being terrible at it is seen as a bad quality but being good at it is actually seen somewhat negativity because it’s assumed you must be extra autistic to be good at it. So when you try to be good at your job - you’re only gonna get respect from your peers… who are all men. Then you can’t prove you have good status with random women cause they don’t fucking work in tech or know your job - so how would they verify your status? You just sound like a super autistic nerd babbling about recursive relations.

Do you get it? Status is only good as long as it is visible and understandable. It is also only good as long as you hit the looks threshold as well. If either of these are not met - status is entirely worthless.

A rule of thumb is that women only pick men at the top of a given hierarchy cause they want to tack onto his earned status to elevate theirs quickly and get access to his genes and resources.

It matters in the same way having money does( this is gonna trigger the hivemind on here) it gives you a slight bump because it indicates confidence and drive to the average woman. It's also a magnet for the superficial clout/ sack chasers. The latter group is a narrow bandwidth that most guys would eliminate from their dating pool because their too problematic. If she's into you mostly because of your status. She in a relationship with your status/money, not with you. In that case, there's always someone with more of either, or both. They should be avoided at all costs.

Most women aren't like that, they desire men for more than that. If you need more motivation to stay away from that type. In my manwhore days, I found those type of women had a higher inclination towards infidelity ( this is a cautionary tale young Padawan, because karma is a bitch) hot girlfriend with a high status douchebag bf, or a bored SAHM with an absentee husband, those were always low hanging fruit. The women you date should see, and appreciate you for who you are, and not the concept of you that they formulate in their thoughts. Likewise, you should do the same.

I feel that - at least at the moment, due to social media, etc. - "status" in the Western world is heavily interlinked with appearance.

In the UK there's a cultural sense of: "if it doesn't LOOK right, it isn't right"...

For example, I come from a very wealthy family who built a successful healthcare and property development business...however we're also small and brown so people still try and talk to us like we're idiots or not that socially aware - a patronising kind of vibe that's hard to explain.

This has DEFINITELY bled into my interactions with women. They almost always know I come from a wealthy background...but you can almost see them struggle with trying to reconcile that with my racial phenotype. Like I'm a human error message 😂

Sidenote: I think the media is a strong reason for the above. When rich people are shown it's almost always tall older men, black rappers and, more recently East Asians (e.g. Crazy Rich Asians, Parasite, etc.). Hollywood still hasn't gotten over the stigma of South Asians...I mean only recently there was a movie called "The Honeymoon" with a famous brown comedian as a literal third-wheel laughing stock...I can't imagine the backlash if that was an East Asian or Black actor...😬

Just like social status and popularity in high school and some girls want to be connected to those connections and they use sex to get there. In a limited environment you could be the leader among 5 guys and yes you will do better. Especially if your are particularly competent.

I've led a team of 3 guys and two women and the women certainly responded.

That said it has to matter to them ( even though it doesn't matter what it is) , I could be the most amazing programmer at my company and some random woman isn't gonna give a shit but if Im leading a team she's on then yeah, probably gonna make difference

Well some sort of demonstrated ability, success, assets and/or status at something other people care about is definitely preferred if you're trying to find someone to take you seriously as friend, lover, spouse, employee, person to buy stuff from, team member, brother in arms, ally, leader, band member, artist, performer, student, person asking for votes...the list goes on. But y'know... we're all participants in multiple hierarchies and we all hope for and respect different things in life. There's women who would rather choke to death on their own vomit than have anything to do with Trump but would be endlessly fascinated by that guy in their town who runs the best tabletop roleplaying games.

And this is true for men and women. A woman is in a better position to be taken seriously while mate seeking and get what she needs if she's got things she is or does or has or represents that are above and beyond. It's not rocket science. He may not be able to fuck your degree but he sure as shit takes note when you're both on a road trip with others as a friendship group and he goes to rent a vehicle for the first time ever and you grab that contract and skim it in three minutes while he's talking to the oh so distracting sales person about the car itself and then explain why the basic insurance deal the contract is defaulting to appears to be a steaming pile of shit and going without insurance or paying the extra fifty for the premium insurance that provides real coverage are likely both better options. And maybe you do that extra above and beyond thing...with the skills from your degree studies.

It's humanity, that's how we are. Everyone wants quality in their lives. They want the sociable partner who facilitates their social rise. They want the shrewd partner who won't let them be ripped off. They want the partner who brings money not debt. They want the beautiful partner who makes them smile just by being viewed. They want the fit partner who can help them stack firewood. They want the the high status partner whose name they can drop.

And yeah, everyone wants it as close as possible to now. They don't want "well currently I've been studying five years and haven't finished all my first year subjects but I am totes going to become a high flying member of the judiciary" and they don't want "well I weigh 120kg and two thirds of that's fat but I have been reading about this diet you see..." They don't want "everybody says my food tastes like arse and I keep confusing salt for sugar but I practise all the time and yesterday I managed to make toast that was edible with a good scraping first" they don't want "well I've got $120,000 of student loan debt but I can pay it off in ten years"

Yes. The this is 100% true. I’ve found myself attracted to people I wouldn’t normally be, simply because they are higher up in whatever hierarchy it is. There’s something inherently sexy about a leader, someone who’s capable or strong, depending. Someone others look up to and admire. Someone other women think is a good man. It all adds into attraction.
