Question for all: would you describe your relationship with your partner as Independent, Dependent, or Interdependent? For those not in a relationship, what type do you want?

Of the three I would say independent- but intertwined. I know what my wife appreciates when it comes to emotional and physical comfort and when it’s a good time to show her how much I love her by giving her the love and support she needs when she’s struggling (we all struggle) and she does the same.

My wife’s not a ‘boss bitch’, but she’s comparatively successful. Owns a few places, in an exclusive part of town. HCOL city. She didn’t need me, but I am happy she wanted me.

Emotionally and physically, partner’s need each other. So by default, we must all be interdependent.

Your definition of interdependent is incorrect. It's a balance of autonomy of self and dependence on another in a relationship.

What you defined is co-dependence.

We have other support. We're not dependent on each other in that sense, but we choose to rely on the other and trust our support for each other.

I’d say we’re somewhere between dependent and interdependent. We’re each others partner. We definitely lean on each other for support, advice, affection etc. Been together for 7yr.

The happy middle of fulfilling each other's needs partially, being able to be independent if we want but choosing to help each other. The exception being that our current setup does require my wage, but he could've survived on his own if I wasn't there by making different choices.

Interdependent but we both like our space. Neither of us spend time touching other people, but we have some time everyday where one way or another we are giving each other physical displays of love. Emotional? We are the only people who know what the other is doing all the time (ie: we know when one of us is at work, and social and practical appointments etc), and we talk about it.

For hashing out issues my husband isn't my best choice, but generally speaking I verbalize what I'm thinking about then figure out the best course of action myself. Because of the old ADHD I often (always) fumble when trying new projects, but if I get frustrated and walk.away, I'll think about it for awhile and figure it out on. my own. When we were first together he'd do the fix-it thing, he's learning not to. I'm restoring our kitchen oak cabinets right now, and my husband is a professional wooden pattern maker. I'm guessing he's biting his tongue after year's of me not blowing up the house when I try something new.

I'd say we are very healthy.

I want interdependent for emotional needs. I can take care of myself practicaly. But I was always dependent for emotional needs, and I want that to be mutual. I want interdependent for emotional needs. For practical or material needs it doesn't matter, I wouldn't mind if he needs financial support from me.

Physically independent

Emotionally interdependent, but both of us lean towards independence on that spectrum.

In general, headed for interdependence, but with strong independence. Which is basically ideal. It's good to know that if either of us dropped dead, we'd both cobble a life back together.

Interdependent. We both rely on each other and these days heavier than we used to due to relocation. We both could live on our own if we had to, but it would be much harde, we'd both be much longer and the quality of our lives would be much lower.

We're an interdependent couple. That's kind of the point of marriage: To merge lives together and become family to each other in a unique way that is good for the couple in bonding and pertains to both individual and mutual well-being. I can imagine neither one-sided dependence nor I-can-take-you-or-leave-you independence as conducive to love (I'm not saying a healthy happy marriage can't include the ability to survive on one's own in the practical sense, but that isn't the same thing as feeling some level of indifference to the very idea of living without one's spouse to the point of emphasizing independence enough to overtly identify with it in regard to one's relationship with one's spouse.)

Currently dating two (or three, it depends) gals and more than satisfied.

They still rely on me more than viceversa tho (the older gal emotionally, the younger one in lots of aspects including financially sometimes) so I guess they would disagree.

Inter-dependent

We've been together for so long that we've molded on one another, we specialised in different tasks in our life and rely on each other emotionally and practically. If he were to suddenly dissapear from my life it would be hard to learn to live my life differently.

Independent, my partner can always be replaced with hotter, younger, tighter woman so to speak. Thats the power of redpill. I earned it though lifting weights and working on my game and status. Now will I replace her, not really unless I have to.

I am technically only dependent on her for comfort of not looking for another. I love her yes, but that love comes without conditions. But my commitment absolutely does comes with conditions. I think she can fulfil mine and I can fulfil her.

Worst thing for me is that if she leaves I would have to get up from my chair and look for a younger hotter version of her. She on the other hand will have trouble finding someone better than me. Not that she can't but she will not have advantage of her age.

Do I rely on her for things sure. She adds value to my life. But I dont really need her, I can just find someone else
