I am not here to make the argument that legalizing sexwork would erode the significance and influence of women's pussy cartel. I am simply interested in achieving more good.

Legalization allows them to unionize and apply for 401k and health insurance. It allows them the ability to seek legal aid an protection. Now it could be that an app comes along that begins jacking up prices like an online pimp but that can be taken care of by legislation hopefully.

Now there are some users here who counter the legalization of sex work by establishing it as some uniquely terrible burden on women and stating that consent obtained by exchange of cash as illegitimate. Let me make this clear, you are delusional.

Consent can be obtained by any means except threat to life and limb. Can sex for money be exploitative ? yes. But so is literally working any job.

Next the argument is that sexwork places a unique burden on women that other jobs dont both in terms of consequences of the act itself and social consequences.

My counter to that is "military. I am making a one to one comparison in terms of profession not lionizing mens sacrifice.

  • Sex work is immoral. - Well so is killing a man. A soldier deployed in defense is OK I guess. but being sent to fight for your countries interests .. well that just sounds like whoring yourself out
  • Risk to life and limb? - worse as a soldier.
  • People get into prostitution because they are desperate and poor and want to have a better life and you are disgusting for taking advantage of that. - Same for the army, many recruits join because the army pays for college and there arent many scholarships for men. They even offer signing bonuses to entice lower income folk
  • Mental health concerns? - PTSD affects veterans and affects their families when they get back home

IF in-spite of these demerits being a soldier is legal. There is no reason why prostitution shouldn't be legalised
