I have read and watched content, studied, debated with friends, evaluated all of these modern relationship issues for years now and I can't help but wonder... what is the *ideal* scenario? What actually works in reality in a heterosexual relationship and marriage?

I think of it like a pendulum that was too far one way (when women had few options or rights) to too far the other way (hook-up culture, p*rn, 50/50 dating, women must be like men to compete, etc). I think there is probably a happy medium where men & women's contributions can be equally respected even if they aren't doing the exact same things. I think men and women are different in many ways.

When I am pregnant and raising children, especially when they are young, I want to be present and low-stress. I also want to take care of myself physically and mentally (I don't want to get fat and be a nag). I don't think this is realistic.. to be relaxed/calm, taking care of myself, my family, my body, etc AND also working a full-time job for a company. I don't want to "do it all". It sounds miserable. BUT, this scenario would result in me being financially-dependent on my husband and I don't think this is healthy.

For the past three years, I thought I discovered the key; I must work to establish passive-income for myself as an entrepreneur (I already have this), so that once I get married and have children, I have money to pay for (at minimum) my own upkeep. That I could have a provider husband, be a present mother during my children's younger years (until they begin school and then maybe I can focus on other small projects), and I wouldn't be completely financially-dependent on my husband. Is this not a solution?

Is it ideal for the wife/mother to have an entrepreneurial, small-business pursuit which is not as demanding and for the husband/dad to be the provider?

I am currently dating and what I have encountered is a man who is established and who has watched a lot of red-pill content. He told me that men don't care about a woman's intelligence (ouch!) and that women should not be entrepreneurs. That they are not natural risk-takers? He wants to be a provider husband and can afford to, but it seems like the traditional gender roles he desires are much more rigid. While I realize this man is likely not the one for me, I also know that I won't get everything that I want. It seems like such a gigantic risk to rely solely on my husband financially. I also would become sad if I was encouraging, supporting, cheering on a man in his pursuits and successes, but he wouldnt be able to support or encourage me in return for my pursuits of a small business that would be small potatoes compared to him. He also says that hypergamy is real (something I agree with to some extent); however, I would never want my husband to think he is "above" me and that I "married up". I think men and women bring different things to relationships. I think a good match is a balance between what everyone brings to the relationship.

What do you think is the ideal scenario for a happy, healthy (non-toxic) relationship and marriage? If the woman doesn't earn money, people say that she is a golddigger or a freeloader or whatever, even when she is birthing and caring for children and home. If she works outside the home and does the typical maternity leave, it is hard for the family, kids, her, and I think women struggle to take care of themselves in this scenario. I think people get divorced a lot in this scenario. What gives?
