If I'm not incorrect, statistically women are less competitive overall. I personally don't desire domination, I prefer peaceful coexistence. Many women are extremely competitive though.

Your whole post seems to be asking the question are women human, like men are? I mean, I've read some ridiculous posts on this sub that seem to be written by someone who has not only never met a woman before but also just never met any humans before, but this one really takes the cake.

For every man who has ever dominated a particular field, there are hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands who don't dominate that field. That's how competition works, not everyone can be a winner. Of course, just like men, there are some women who are very competitive and strive to be the best. I think most of these depend on the inidividuals personality, regardless of if they are a man or a woman. I know a lot of men that have no drive to dominate in their field, and women that do.

Survival skills is based off experience. Although, I will say, most inexperienced men I know seem to be worse due to unecesarry risk taking (ie, not wearing sun team when they have access to it and getting burnt, throwing the whole deodorant can into the fire to make it hotter, and getting burnt, walking a more dangerous route etc) but I accept that might just be my personal experience

I'm going to address #6 specifically, because the reality is that neither men nor women would adapt well at all to wilderness survival.

I found it really interesting that in the case of the Donner Party, the men were more likely to give up before the women. Here's a passage from The Indifferent Stars Above by Daniel James Brown (2008):

The climb had taken much out of all of them, but the men in particular were fatigued and dispirited. Since leaving the Camp of Death, the women had more and more often found themselves having to take the initiative, setting the course, sometimes leading the men by the hands, gathering the wood, making the fires at night, bringing them food.

A Donner Party survivor later told J. Quinn Thornton, author of one account of the snowshoe expedition, that the men had been ready to give up well before the women.

And later:

In particular situations where men are able to take more than their fair share of resources, and inclined to do so, they sometimes do outsurvive women. But when scarce resources are shared more or less equally, the opposite is very much true.

Donald Grayson at the University of Washington has studied this phenomenon in relation to the Donner Party and come up with some interesting, and for those of us who are male, discomfiting, observations. Overall, Donner Party men died at nearly twice the rate of women (56.6 percent of the males, 29.4 percent of the females). They died much sooner, too. Fourteen Donner Party males died before the first female did. And it was men in their prime years who died earliest and in the largest numbers. Of twenty-one men between the ages of twenty and thirty-nine, 66 percent died; of thirty women in the same age group, only 14 percent died.

Grayson’s study implicated interesting factors in the differing mortality rates for males and females. Women, of course, generally have smaller bodies, and one would therefore expect that they would lose their core body heat to the outside environment more quickly than men. But in fact they actually retain core body temperatures better. This is partly because women have higher proportions of body fat and a higher proportion of that fat is located subcutaneously ( just under the skin). This, in effect, provides them with a layer of insulation and a survival advantage in extreme cold. Women also, on average, maintain lower skin temperatures than men, resulting in less temperature differential between the skin and the environment and therefore less heat loss.

And, of course, the single men fared the worst:

There were fifteen unattached men between the ages of twenty and forty in the Donner Party. Only three of them survived.

This is just one example during a specific time but I found it interesting, especially since this would have been a time when people knew how to survive to some degree in the wilderness. The idea that someone from 2023 without survival knowledge could just adapt, man or woman, is incredibly unrealistic.

I don't know exactly. Probably for the whole human population, the overlap of abilities is bigger than the differences, and also it probably depends for a significant part on people's upbringing and education. Just like in most fields, the top probably would be more male than female, due to less women willing or being able to devote their entire life to such topics, whether due to having children or simply having other interests.

If a woman were to be betrayed equally by the same gender, and the opposite gender, who would she hold more hatred for? Would the same gender be hated less, even by a few percent? 1- I wouldn’t say I want to dominate my field per se. I want to do well, get as high as possible while maintaining my work life balance. I make decent money and don’t feel a drive to dominate anything. I work to live, I don’t live to work.

2- women can absolutely get an ego. Some take it to the extreme and some don’t. I think everyone wants to think they’re important or special in some way. I personally don’t have a huge ego, I think women may be taught to suppress their egos a bit, can’t be too stern in the work place, too over confident - they’re labeled a bitch and no one wants to work with you. Where men can get away with it because it’s “confidence” or they’re“career driven.”

3- of course we think things like “I wish I could just punch him.” But women are more risk adverse so typically we wouldn’t. But we still feel like we want to. We just understand consequences and do what it takes to not suffer those unwanted consequences by not doing the thing. You see a lot of revenge in the form of “I’ll do better than her,” “he’ll regret leaving me because I’ll have a revenge body” “I’m going to bcc our boss on his shitty email.” That sort of thing. More covert I guess.

4- yes. Women are just as capable. The hormone that makes women “crazy” when they are PMSing is testosterone. Women are great at logic and strategy - it’s why we’re so good at the “not punching people in the face” thing. We weigh consequences with our actions. In a strategy game I regularly beat those around me. This isn’t gendered. Men have ruled the world and women had fewer rights so we didn’t get a chance to do those things. That and most women are being used by the people who run the black market, because of their position of oppression, not because of the inability to logic and reason.

5- we have the same drive to acquire resources but are more communal about it. Over 70% of Neanderthal diets consisted of gathered food - food gathered by women. They raised children in the community, not independent, relying on a man to take down a bison. They’d all have died. Women are just as driven to acquire resources - someone women utilize sexuality to get a sugar daddy, some women have a desire for children and finding a provider that is sufficient while making sure they have something to offer in exchange, and most women are like me, who do for ourselves or split with a partner. My partner couldn’t afford what he does without me nor I without him because it’s a joint venture. We do aspire for those things but end up being held back for several different reasons - which are all well researched.

6- what a weird question. A modern human in the jungle is someone in trouble. Whether you know how to survive or not doesn’t matter. Most people are not the adventure men they believe they are. Most people are looking for civilization. Men can just get a bit of an ego when it comes to what they can accomplish and then die because they are poison berries. If you’re educated in survivalist shit - you’ll do well in that situation. That isn’t gendered.

7- in group bias totally exists - if you feel a part of women and they hurt you, you can understand their intentions and better forgive. That’s anyone though. And depends on what you believe your in group to be.

At least in our business they sorta expect a man to screw them over but when another woman does it seems to be more deeply felt. On average, men are more willing to sacrifice more for career gain, more often resort to physical violence (women tend toward character assassination), and show a greater interest in objects (women tend towards people).

With regard to survival skills, it seems likely to be situation dependent. Young males appear to have a wired predispostion for exploring - they roam further, build forts (yes, that is an observed phenomenon), and organize into hierarchical groups. So, a group of coordinated men are likely better suilted for a difficult expedition, but when surviving as part of the tribe, social skills would serve women well.

"On average" thinking also fails to capture the nuance because situations are often dominated by persons at the extremes of a distribution. While there may be a relatively small difference in the predilection for violence between men and women, on average, the most violent people you encounter will almost always be men because men are extremely over represented at the extreme end of the aggression distribution.

Both sexes want to obtain resources and favorable procreation opportunities, but the installed algorithm tends to be parameterized differently as one would expect given the reproductive differences between the sexes.

They often spend less time dealing with physically heavy labor, they usually aren't the ones shoveling shit or dealing with an infestation at home, especially modern urbanite western women, I think there are just a lot more mental hurdles for most women in regards to nature than there are for men. Not to mention added physical hurdles (period, pregnancy, strength).

That being said, your caricature of not even trying to make shelter and find food and water is too much. Women also have an urge to survive and have a brain lol. If civilization is reachable, ofc you run towards civilization, but if civilization is not nearby and you have to spend a night outdoors, you have to start thinking about how you're gonna do that. There's literally 0 women who'd just give up if they were alone out there, they may freak out for a bit and then they'd get their shit together and figure it out. That being said, if they were outside with a group of people, I think they're more likely than men to slack off in such a situation.

7 I don't know if there's a rule of thumb on this, in my experience it's pretty individual. Women who feel a strong loyalty towards women might actually hate women who betray them more, because for them it's an important value to stick together with other women and someone not doing that is reprehensible, while for men it is expected they'll betray you. Others may be much angrier at men because they get abused or something. Or because they dehumanize men based on some prejudice. It really depends on the woman, I haven't noticed any big trends Idk.
