What other matchmaking pairing system do you think could replace the current dating system in place?

I think limiting the time people spend on social medias and dating apps would help to improve current dating situation. We don’t need an AI or the state choosing a partner for people, we need people to go out and actually socialize.

I’ve enjoyed picking a partner for myself just as many other people have. I wouldn’t want to pull a straw with an AI or the state.

Maybe ideally create more 3rd places and more opportunities for people to meet face to face. And encourage people to be more social that isn't a fucking bar? A lot of dating woes and misery and app usage are people who don't have a lot of ways to interact with a lot of other singles. We all have friend groups where everyone is paired off and friend of a friend are likely someone you wouldn't be interested in dating.

We need more communal spaces and activities outside of just drinking and clubbing. But other ways to encourage people to mingle. I think since COVID we become a lot more insulated less social so as a result we aren't as outgoing. So more singles only activities that don't involve drinking but actively let others mix and mingle properly.

The issue is that mating is not separate from other aspects of a culture. The West is obsessed with individual freedom, in all its forms. People have become atomized. Extended family is a relic of the past. Geographic community is increasingly irrelevant to people. Religion is dying.

I have no time for the sci-fi craziness of the OP. But there are other possible mating systems that would be better, but they could never work in the current overall culture.

All apps already have algorithms. I think they're all based on attractiveness and swipeability these days. Sites like okc introduced tinder clone features since it didn't matter what you answered on the quizzes

Personally I feel going about life and being kind to others and meeting people by chance feels so much better than even dating someone u met online naturally nvm dating apps.

It just feels so much more special and you cherish it far more. As well as usually having at least something in common instantly be it a shop or a coffe place or a sort or anything

Current system is the best. AI will never lead to happy marriages because it lacks the "limerence" of just meeting someone special. The current system is honestly working fine. Dating apps are a scam, but many people date without them and plenty of people find a partner on them (do not post that clickbait survey. It has been said hundreds of times that "met online" does not mean "met on an app")

For most of human history, only about 50-60% of people ever had kids (most died too young or ended up in things like a monastery). The late 20th century was a weird period where a lot of people lived past their 20s and 30s, and there also was a cultural norm to have kids. That's changing. We're going back to the old ways where around 50% of people don't have partners and don't have kids, prostitution is common, etc. Nothing wrong with that.

Improving pairing only works if there are missed connections. A missed connection is where two people have a high probability of forming a relationship but they don't know that each other exists. We do not have an epidemic of missed connections. Woman are aware of their options and choose to unilaterally make everyone single.

The only place where missed connections can be improved is the following:

Commission Match Making: High-end dating services use commissioned based dating hunters. This is typically for millionaires. Think about it as an SA for long term relationships. Maybe a more scalable version of this could be created for upper middle class nerds who are invisible on dating apps.

Virginity / Low N-Count Service: Men value virgins and low n-count women. The issue right now with this idea is that women can lie. But if new lie detection technology was applied as a consenting part of registration for women then this would absolve that issue.

High Trust Dating Service For Third World Countries: There are a lot of scammers in third world dating sites mixed in with honest women. There are also language barriers. Anything that could improve the friction points here would allow first world men to date down. This preserves the hypergamous law of nature but allows poor American men to still find a partner. Maybe AI translation will help.

Online dating is actually a really good tool.

It's just people aren't willing to take it slow and invest in their matches.

They want everything NOW NOW NOW and cannot wait and put the effort in to form a bond.

This reflects in the people who complain about not having a big house and the cost of living. They aren't willing to give up anything to save money and expect the end game goals at the start.

Yes the boomers had it easier, but that was then, this is now, get over it, things change, adapt. It's not fair, but if you get hung up on what was you cannot move forward.

My parents started off in a small little house and worked their way into the 4 bedroom house they own now and even then it was an old farm house that they have had to massively restore and upgrade over the decades by their own hands.

It's the same in relationships, it's slow and takes time, as with all things.

But everything and everyone wants to move so quick these days.

Let AI do the matchmaking. I guess there's no way to really match people based on a questionnaire, tho that seems odd to me. I wonder if a bunch of psychologists were given a grant to develop a list of 100 or so questions that would determine compatibility, if what they came up with would be useful or an utter failure.

I think an ai will work if it wants to match is strait across in looks, history, status , etc so eliminating 'getting ahead' 'dating up/down' then I'm down for it. If it matches fairly. The current system is just a bunch of fish staring up at a single peice of fish bait above the water.

hmm maybe a dating app which would pair people only in their attractiveness bracket, imagine having 100 guys and 100 girls, girls rating guys profiles and vice versa, top 10% rated profiles can match only with top 10% rated profiles of the opposite sex, top 10-20 with other top 10-20 etc.

so guys coudlnt go for lower SMV girls for an easy lay and girls wouldn't think they are 9/10 if they are 3/10
