Does it really remove AA though? I've met lots of women online, and sure the online interaction can be good, but then you have to actually meet. My early meetups were awkward nightmares. Over time, just like in any other setting, my confidence grew and meets became easy. In fact, it became weird when girls were reluctant to meet up, because I would push for the meet ASAP. This should be your number one rule for online dating. I eventually found success many many times, had a few long term girls, and eventually met the girl I;ve been with for over 5 years. We met on Hot or Not.

Online dating is good for beginners for two reasons only: firstly, it forces guys not to put all their eggs in one basket and teaches them that girls are constantly getting approached and flaking. Second, it teaches guys not to fall into special snowflake thinking, as most of the girls they will meet will have some sort of problem--most likely more noticeably so than a girl they would meet on the street.

I think the approach has been made much more difficult by our society, so skipping it may not be a bad thing. The approach hasn't always been like this... if you live in a town with a few hundred people the approach is different than if you are at a university with 40,000 people in a city of millions. The approach we currently have isn't necessarily the approach that we were supposed to have.

I met my current LT girlfriend online. It's worked beautifully. Sure there is a lot to wade through. And yes the hot girls get hundreds of messages. But if you're diddling online anyway, and still going out otherwise, might as well.

The main benefit I see in online dating is efficiency. Every girl you message is by definition looking to meet someone, so you don't waste time talking to girls who have a boyfriend. And you can message a lot of them quickly.

The main drawback is the market skews toward women. I generally meet hotter girls offline than on, though there have been some exceptions. Part of that may be attributable to my age (I'm 44). I suspect most younger women screen me out based on the number, but when I meet someone in real life they don't immediately know how old I am, so there's still an opportunity for the attraction triggers to fire.

I don't think online helps at all with offline AA, but it can be useful for practicing flirting. My initial messages are typically short and try to tease about something in her profile.

I have absolutely zero AA in real life. Online dating doesn't help me compensate, it just allows me to double my efforts. I can't spend all day and night in a bar.

A hot girl on any online dating site gets a shit-ton of messages a week. You have to practice that shit to differentiate yourself and get the gold. The 10's... So you have to spend a lot of time on these sites to get anywhere...

That energy is better spent honing your "meat game" (hah!) skills, since you will have to meet up with these girls one time anyway. And there you don't get 24+ hours to hammer out those perfect one-liners.

Avoid it like the plague I tells ya!

Oh!...Be prepared to wade through a huge amount of fake profiles or girls just wanting attention. The hit-rate of online dating is abysmal.

I disagree. You should do both. I look at online as a way to hone your "text game" once your decent its not hard to pull at least 7s off there. I think most guys on there aren't very good with their game. At some point I stopped giving a fuck and started hitting on girls IRL. You get MAJOR points for having the guts to hit on a girl in the wild. Online was like training wheels for me...they eventually come off Cuz you want higher quality women. I still use online though to keep the abundance mentality up.

I use OKC to supplement my regular game. Even without actually meeting a girl on there, shooting short messages and creative one-liners is a good way to test the waters, and a little bit of a confidence boost when you get a response back from a 9 or 10 that you know is fielding 100s of messages a day. I just take it for what it is. Online dating. Also knowing you have a possible chick in the midst even if its just after a few flirty messages is relaxing, even if she isnt really.

Online dating is a great filter mechanism if you are looking for a medium- or long-term relationship. It helps you ignore the many thousands of women that you would waste your time with if you spoke to them based purely on their looks. So you can focus on women who are actually a potentially good match.

That said, it's a lot of work. Especially if you are average or below-average looking.

I would recommend it for 'older' people (as in, 27 and up) who have some idea what they are really looking for. Or for people who are not very connected socially (no parties to meet people at, live in a small town, etc.)

I like and primarily use online dating. However I agree with this, it's the AP class of pickup. If you aren't any good IRL than you are going to be equally bad or worse online. It amplifies everything about your technique that sucks.

It's just a road of heartbreak and misery for ugly guys trying to play the game. If you have a hideous face (like myself), are overweight, or take bad pictures, you're going to have a bad time. Despite me being disgustingly ugly in the face (or body or have bad fashion, like some fellas), I still have a chance with people in person. Sure, most women will probably won't give me a chance after looking at me once. But the few that do I can still win over using game.

Ugly people don't even have that going for them online. So stay away unless you know you are good looking.

I started out using online dating because I needed the crutch. It never really worked out. Lately, I've been doing okay with the ladies the old-fashioned way, so the online scene faded for a while. I've recently gotten back into it just to see if I could make it work with my newly developed skills... Hell no. It's become more of a bucket list goal of mine to pick up a girl using the internet as opposed to a handicap simply because I want to see if I can do it.

I thought it would give me an easy way out, but now it's like tying a damn parachute to my back before running the 100 meter.

I agree it makes men soft.

Taking the women part out of things, if you are uncomfortable with meeting new people, this doesn't necessarily eliminate that.

You lose out on gaining social skills.

Social skills that will come in handy when you are meeting a new client and need to make them feel comfortable enough to buy what you're selling.

The social skills when you want to impress the parents of the girl you met online.

It does make men softer, instead of taking on a weakness and improving on it they are just circumnavigating around it. Once they meet someone they actually like, they are fooled to believe that they have conquered their social awkwardness.
