If you want to make it up to me, I set the terms; this is not a negotiation. That said, I'm fair and up front about what cuts the mustard for making it up to me.
"And don't sweat tonight's reservation, I won't let it go to waste." If I haven't told this girl I'm seeing her exclusively, I've already told her I'm seeing what options I have. If she cancels off hand her interest level is low. If she cancels and apologizes and sets a new time her interest level is high.

You have to options one you could do the top comment method of requesting the scheduling of another date.

When this happens I respond with a "K" and move on. I find that girls that want more will be totally unsatisfied with that response and follow up. Girls that don't will be great with that and disappear.

Too bad every girl and every situation is not the same because any one answer would work.

Handle your situations as they present themselves. If the girl already cancelled on you and this situation played itself out than its too late now for a clever response. Just move on and if she hits you up later then tell her it won't work for you that night but suggest another time/ place. Either way don't wait around for her.

Basically I see two nearby approaches:

Telling her that it is now her turn to come up with a suggestion. I'd tell her that I'm thrilled what she will come up with and we're going to have a blast. (Build anticipation and a positive mood.)
Since she's feeling guilty and in the need to "make it up to you", it's tempting to capitalize on this and try to get something she wouldn't normally give at this point. "A blowjob will suffice" might be too blunt. ;) However, that's not my style.

all these suggestions are horrible. you should respond something like "uh huh,.. yeah sure :P" type deal. it shows that you have a good head on your shoulders, not pushy, no temper and also kind of giving her a hard time about it. saying things like "when" is pushy - saying things like "how? and you better make it good" shows that you're way too intense and it may put her off,.. and taking the situation to forcibly make another date is another way to push her away. I would absolutely avoid saying "K" which is the most passive aggressive thing in the world people can say to most comments through texts. After saying "uh huh,.. yeah sure :P" I would just let her text you without you trying to force a conversation (aka text her that comment and wait to see how she tries communicating after that) and see if she is genuinely interested or is really just blowing you off. If she doesn't talk to you/text you then you know she wasn't really interested and you played it off nicely. You showed her it wasn't a big deal to you which may work for you in the future with her as well and if it doesn't then it shows you how to not look needy and desperate to other women.

Any response other than a challenge, or a brush off I have found pretty much kills the whole thing. If you say something like, OK, that's fine. Or anything to the like, you won't be seeing her again. So it's either, "When?" if you want to see her again, or "k" if you don't care either way. Then see if she is woman enough to follow through.
