Let me elaborate. Yes the apps typically report there being a gender discrepancy between men and women but the phrasing is often "Average ACTIVE monthly users". Saying there are less active is not necessarily the same as saying less women use dating apps overall.

A common claim I hear is that women tend to create a profile and then delete after they get what they want and then recreate their profiles again later if they need to rejoin. Meanwhile men are more likely to be on the apps for extended periods of time either because they are one of the lucky few who have an all you can fuck buffet that they want to take advantage of or because they are in the pool of men that have to spin their wheels for a while before getting any traction.

Point being, there will in theory be more men in that active bucket while women can just hop on the app, set her filter to 6ft+ (or maybe 5'10+ if shes feeling charitable) and then have 3 or 5 guys lined up to date and then delete the app shortly afterwards.

So it might not necessarily be that women don't use the apps or are not on the apps it could just be that they don't have to be on them for as long to get what they want and as such end up under reported in that "active monthly users" statistic.

Thoughts? Do you think women are actually less likely to use the apps at all as some claim or do you think a similar percentage of women and men use the apps but that women are just are not active on the apps for as long?
