Women, by their nature, are picky and I have come to understand that a long time ago but it’s men’s right to also want what we want and that’s young, fertile & hot women.

Just 5 minutes ago I read, within this very same subreddit mind you, “that it is extremely off-putting if men text everyone with a pulse”. Now this, my eyes.

I’m open to women who don’t meet my age criteria for something long term but will I actively look out for women who are (by my standards) not young & hot to me? Oh, fuck no.

Consider I hear this almost exclusively online and it never seems to matter in real life, I suspect they lowkey are quite aware.

In real life, it seems like everyone I know is just attracted to whoever they're attracted to. It doesn't matter what anyone looked like yesterday. It only matters if they're attracted to each other today—to some extent, whether they expect to remain so tomorrow.

CAVEAT: this is true only of new, or prospective, relationships. In long relationships, the fact that one partner significantly changes or especially "let themselves go" is often a major source of friction. I don't blame anyone for being upset about that.

I think it's good for women to develop their careers and skills. But it's irrelevant to my romantic interests. I'm dating, not hiring.

And I'll say this about personalities: not all developments are positive. Even if we assume most people get more mature (and I think there is a lot of room for nuance there), that doesn't mean they are also more fun, interesting, or good. Lots of people just get bitter, jaded, and world-weary with time.

I'm not prejudiced against older women. But I'm also not awarding them bonus points for having developed personalities until I experience those developments for myself. Not for nothing, but physical beauty is a lot more straightforward and can be experienced immediately.
