Meeting in real life "organically" is the best way imv. I.e. you study/work together, you meet through friends, you meet on a party etc. I've used a dating app nor I'd ever date someone who cold approached me.

Warm approach, so 2nd one I guess.

Community gatherings, social events, group hangs where I get to know someone and their vibe. If we mesh I’ll ask them out.

2 is ideal because at least there has been some vetting mechanism at work.

1 and 3 are extremely mixed bags of normal, socially aware people and ones who are very much not. My SO was technically a positive case of 3 depending on how you define "cold approach" exactly but I have had many experiences with it that weren't so great.

2 is the closest. I don't date strangers, so every guy I've dated was already my friend/acquaintance in some way. It's much easier to vet guys when they aren't trying to hide anything.

2, because its the safest and its also the only way ive ever gotten into a relationship.

ive never dated someone who has cold approached me, and generally try to avoid them going forward if i see them around

Being introduced by mutual friends by far. This looks like showing up to my friend’s events several times a week where I often meet new people. The people who show up at these events generally share my interests so they are good potential matches.

I don’t consider men who have cold approached me outside of venues that already filter for my interests. If someone is essentially talking to me for my looks that’s a red flag, and I’m so weird that the chances of being a good match with a random person are too low.

There was already some evaluation done by the friend (they would not suggest a person who would not be a match) and there is a bit of a familiarity/connection through the mutual friend.

Introduced through mutual friends. I've only ever dated through my social circles. Apps seem gross and a waste of time to me, and while I've been cold approached and I don't mind it, it's never led to anything.

Men in my social circles are pre-vetted for me. My friends (and their friends) are mostly of the demographics I want to date in, so I don't need to spend that much effort finding a man who is educated, has some sort of career trajectory, and is politically similar to me. Plus it's easier for me to trust this man if our mutual friends think highly of him.

I'd say meeting people through friends or through a mutual interest. Most people I've dated I met through mutual friends and interests, or at university. My husband is the only guy I've dated whom I met through an app. Very lucky, but I wouldn't say online dating was particularly fun.

For me when I was single, I preferred the second or meeting someone at an event via friends, the second one never happened. I had the first happen to me twice. The first time, the guy was wonderful but moved away. The second time, it did not go well but to my defense, the friends that set me up really lacked emotional intelligence and I have no idea what was going through their head when they did it (they even admitted his problems after I broke up with him).

I met both my ex and current bf through mutual friends, but not in a dating context. In both cases we were all hanging out and I happened to vibe with person, it's not like it was a set up.

I only know a couple people who use apps and they are transplants to my city and have little time to network because of school and work.

No one in my sphere is interested in dating a cold approacher for reasons.

Social spheres, acquaintances, and some agreeable strangers in social spaces are all possibilities.

Men so desperate they wander around in search of validation from strangers are not an option.
