There's a really funny post on TwoX right now, where a woman discusses her experiences as a sex club. The tl;dr is that she had a really great time because women were empowered and men were terrified. But it really strikes me as interesting despite her claiming the club is "Matriarchal"... In effect, it's still a space where men provide security (bouncers) and labor-value ($100 cover, versus $15 for women), in return for a chance at access to sex.

This essential dynamic is why matriarchal societies essentially always get or converted into patriarchies. Most everyone likes likes security, resources, and sex, but men (as a class) are relatively more motivated by the latter factor. That gives them a comparative advantage at provisioning security and resources-- as well as the motivation necessary to employ their control over those things to control women into giving them sex.

If feminists are serious about feminism, their only option is to build a parallel security apparatus. Trying to change laws and social norms to defend women's' interests might reduce the ability for ordinary men to do things women might like-- but at the cost of empowering the existing, mostly-male security apparatus to do all the things instead. You can pass the equal rights amendment if you want, but it won't transfer power from men to women-- it'll transfer power from ordinary men to cops.
