I've had a few fantastic flings that had to end because our lives were going in different directions. I'm not that sad that they ended. Melancholy at the time but it's nice that we only got the best of one another and didn't get to the point where we'd get on each other's nerves. I remember them fondly and thank my luck that I got to experience it.

Can I pick how old I am? Biggest mistake of my life was dating the same person from 19-25. It was an amicable split, but I was the one who initiated it. If we had gotten married, we'd be divorced by now. Same-ish age, option one sucks, but it won't kill your life. Same-ish age second choice will kill your life. Now, if I'm 40, second choice doesn't seem so bad.

Just for posterity, I'm late 30's now and never married. Most of the women I date are late 20's and early 30's.

This mentality for “prime” for both men and women is absolutely ridiculous. I’m 24 but I feel when I’m in my 30s I’ll be having a hell of a lot better time. Because if you’re 20s are your prime, that’s so sad. There is so much more to life than your 20s.

Wouldn’t it be better to find a stable partner that you actually cared about? Or be with someone you genuinely like to be around instead of focusing on looks?
