Secondly I would say that most relationships aren’t in the public sphere in the same way this example is and that we have no real understanding of what actually transpired between the two individuals concerned. There is so much factually incorrect about this post. You posted some cherry-picked clips a few seconds long out of hours of footage.

I'm a fan of Destiny so I'm biased but they absolutely did not separate because Melina was sleeping with other men and he wanted her to stop. Destiny has said multiple times that he doesn't care at all about her having sex with other people. He's not a jealous person by nature. She was dealing with tax evasion charges in Sweden for 3 months and he was still in the U.S. and she became emotionally (and obviously sexually) involved with Memetix who threatened to delete himself if she didn't divorce Destiny. That is why he wanted Melina to end the relationship with him, not because of the sex. Another note is the Memetix guy is not some Alpha-Chad looking guy that TRP would have predicted. Memetix is like the dictionary photo of a soy-boy; Melina legit has more muscle mass than Memetix but whatever.

Also Melina had borrowed ~100K from Destiny but paid it all back and he has said on stream she's basically getting no money out of the divorce because she kept working throughout their marriage (let that also be a lesson to TRP followers - marry a woman who works if you want to protect your assets in a divorce).

A lot of internet personalities are blaming the open part for the dissolution of their marriage but it probably has more to do with them both being streamers (mini-celebrities) and the associated drama as well as the age gap. Destiny is like 10 years older than Melina (statistically very high risk for divorce) but no one in TRP mentions that as factor. Add into the mix that they're from 2 different cultures and have a different first language, different hobbies and yeah it was probably not a great match from the start. Destiny by his own admission did not give Melina enough time/attention and his dramas with other women (Lav, Lauren Southern, Cheiry etc.) probably strained their marriage too.

Lastly, Destiny has never advocated open marriages for everyone. He's said multiple times that most people can't deal with the jealousy aspect and that the reason he gravitates to ENM is because he's cheated in the past and likes variety. IMO at least he gives the women he dates the same rights and options as he wants rather than that one-sided open TRP nonsense. Also he is already dating/fucking multiple women and will probably get in more LTRs which will also probably end because that's just life.

I think I heard someone say recently that if you're in a relationship you have to negotiate with that person if you want sex, or x, y, z things that you get from a relationship. It forces you to forge a better relationship, and in some cases become a better person.

But if you're in an open relationship you don't have to deal with your problems, you can just go get what you want somewhere else, or just ignore your deficiencies and repeat your behavior endlessly.

In Destiny's case we aren't really getting the whole story but essentially my understanding is that Melina was stuck in Sweden because she hadn't properly paid her taxes in Sweden. The 100k request from Melina is for those taxes and is supposedly a 'loan'. I think Destiny was paying for her apartment there but that was because of the situation she was in, but then that became a problem when she started sleeping with a guy he didn't like and letting him stay there.

Whatever the full story is I'll repeat something ad nauseum that I just don't think is integrated well into the understanding of women in the 'manosphere'. Or at least well enough, the full extent of it. MOST WOMEN CANNOT BE ALONE. Women will stay with boyfriends they don't like for years, marry them, put up with what they don't like all because they can't be alone. The other side of this is that as soon as that guy is not present for a period of time, literally as short as a week, they will blow up a relationship for whoever is their preferred beta orbiter or random guy from dating app. Whatever the full story is, the root of it is that their relationship couldn't last a few months apart and she probably started acting psycotic and unstable putting as much pressure on the relationship as possible so that it could end and she could replace Destiny.

Melina, for those that don't know, in one of the most embarrassing videos on the entire internet, was dating a Destiny fan. Destiny flew out to fuck her, as she was in an open relationship, and she monkey branched to Destiny. But that's just the same behavior. They can't be alone.

You left out several key details here, or misrepresented his situation. He wasn't upset at her for "sleeping with other guys"; he was upset with her for a combination of reasons, including having a relationship with a manipulative douchebag, and for constantly talking bad about him to her friends.

Second of all, yes, Melina did ask him for that money, but after signing a post-nup and paying him back over $100,000. Another thing, Melina does not care about living in the U.S. at all.

I'd rather not even mention the type of guy that Melina was dating, but he is the farthest thing from the redpill ideal.

Steven is also not in shambles, in any way whatsoever, and however he's thinking about moving forward with dating has nothing to do with how well he's doing. I really, really dislike that Destiny dude. I think he is the prototypical slightly left leaning, disingenuous slimeball that Reddit has too many of. Yeah, the dude that melina girl is now seeing may be a "soyboy" but thats not how it works. For a narcisstic (and possible sex addict, open relationships often have these but I cant be so sure) promiscuous woman, variety is the main aim. Her new squeeze being some suicidal fairy is of little consequence. Its just new. Its a new flavour of boyfriend who she'll probaby get bored of too. The turn on for women like Melina is weilding her sexual power and thats best done among physically inferior men.

But, again, what amuses me most is that Melina is very much a "mainstream pretty" woman that redpill types warn about. The thing about redpill (which is somewhat admirable) is that its all about strategising ways to actually handle women of that nature. I absolutely agree that their marriage would have ended much sooner if it had been closed/monogamous or closed only on one end. Last Destiny I knew about was the black dude on Eminem movie. I'm a fan of country rock when it comes to american music genres but I guess dude was dope.

Ok on open relationships, I was recently talking to another dude in another subreddit, he was asking if it was right or wrong to break up with his girlfriend for suggesting opening up their relationship, so I'm going to say exactly what I told him.

I'm in three (or four, depending on timing) open relationships currently.

Open relationships are NOT relationships, properly speaking. They are more like "a thing". Me and the girls have "a thing".

I've been fucking around for the last four years since my ex-fiancee and I parted ways. She's the last woman I had something real with, for a whole 8 years, and the one and only woman I ever loved, and the only women I would have given my life to protect, and I would still to this day.

I wouldn't do the same I did for her (or was willing to do) for any other of my girls.... Why?

Because I don't kid myself thinking they would do for me not even half of what my ex did.

These girls I'm dating now are probably dating other dudes and fucking around as much as I do. They say they don't but I mean... What are the chances?

Do I care about them? Of course I do, I try to make their time with me the best I can, we spend nice moments, and we share intimate things. You can be a fucker without being a motherfucker.

But I won't spend time or energy believing these gals can offer me something beyond a superficial interaction, at best some emotional support while I'm going through a rough patch.

But I'm not their top priority. If I'm at the hospital and their dog gets sick, they are going to take care of their dog, not me.

And I'm fine with it, God knows my dog is important to me.

And that's why we have an "open relationship", not a COMMITED MONOGAMOUS one.

Love, as life, is limited.

Yeah yeah, I know, we all have so much love to give.

But in reality, even when our "love knows no boundaries", our time, our energy, our money and put overall life to spend with our beloved ones has limits, and we have to make consesions and make a choice about how we spend that love, and with whom.

And that makes love a bit possesive, like a commodity, and it comes with a price.

I don't doubt for a second there are women out there who can love many many men at the same time. There must be a few at least out there... Lets suppose this is true come on...

But then how can you spend quality time with your boyfriend or husband when your fucking another dude every now and then.

You just can't. Love is tied to commitment, and when you give your time and attention to someone, wether you like or not, your taking it away from someone else.

I can't see this as a broad condemnation of non redpill thought in general though. There's plenty of blue pill thinking that sees open relationships as almost guaranteed to fail because it's such a high difficulty level...there are also plenty of redpillers that attempt having lots of casual relationships at once then lose their shit in fits of possessive anxiety and rage because their fave girl finds another guy she's enjoying a whole lot. Or do things like end up with two of their lovers pregnant at once and child support bills that look like the budget of a small government department.

So basically it's poly problems not pill problems. Poly has problems.

Considering the guy she left him for, not really. The guy is even wimpier than him and has a barrage of mental illnesses and insecurities without any of the money or status. If she left for a stereotypical alpha chad you could have a point. If anything, I think she has a type if you want to call it that, considering who he is and who she left him for (I think he even joked about this).

The only thing you can make a case for here is monogamy, which I would also make because poly relationships seem to have way more points of failure. Everything else would just be trying to lead people onto a certain conclusion without mentioning inconvenient facts.

It would be like if I mentioned the fact that Destiny is 35 and she's 20-something (and so is the other guy) as a potential knock against "higher SMV for guys in their 30s" without mentioning all the other variables that went into the divorce.

Edit: as for the polyamory situation I don’t participate in that lifestyle. Complete misrepresentation of the situation. The divorce is because his ex-wife got romantically attached to a guy who was forcing her to divorce Destiny and threatening with suicide. The fact that she didn't just cut him off immediately but continued to see him and lie about certain things about him to Destiny made Destiny divorce her.

Now come 2024 and Destiny is in shambles, he has stated live on stream that he's not sure if he'll ever date again.

In shambles? Dude is taking this in stride, he hit her with divorce papers and told her to get the fuck out and has said he's feeling good and happy about it overall, and about being single again and not having a partner who can limits his sexual activates anymore (even though it was an open marriage it wasn't fully open).

It seems to be a case of someone taking the bluepill ideology to an extreme and refusing to acknowledge that there are nuances to all of this.

Is redpill wrong? Maybe, but not having a prenup in this situation seems exceedingly naive.

Are open relationships doomed to failure? Not always, but the personality traits required to be comfortable with your partner sleeping around aren't found in everyone, and ignoring your own feelings on the matter in an attempt to be as progressive as possible is just delusional.

As other's have said, while it's an interesting case study, it's still just a single anecdotal case. Not to mention despite how much information we often have in these parasocial relationships with celebrities, we never truly have the full picture. Maybe the pussy was just that good that he was willing to ignore every red flag along the way. Maybe he wasn't getting any at all but he still wanted to believe in the blue pill. We can't know for certain.

You don’t have to be redpilled to see that coming. Open marriages are what some couples do as a last ditch effort to avoid a divorce, and it usually doesn’t work. I think destiny got played. I think that red pills are right about a lot of things. Does this mean they’re right in general? No. Does this mean they’re right about open marriages? Absolutely.

Something he said once, unlike a lot of redpill influencers, he doesn’t believe his entire lifestyle is something to be replicated, nor does he even want to advertise it as that, instead he just wants to use logic to undo a lot of the worse redpill theories.

It must be important to note that the redpill that he’s fighting are the Andrew Tate fans at that type, people who believe the actual alpha bullshit, not the red pillers who simply believe that there are unfair measurements that men have to live up to.

So yeah, we don’t know his personal situation, there could be many reasons why he let his relationship get to that point, but he inevitably made the right choice in his situation. Importantly, he isn’t trying to live by example, he’s trying to use debate and logic to bring down arguments he sees as bad, he isn’t trying to be Jesus, like some other redpill influencers, so his points aren’t diminished by this situation.

I don't know anything really about those except for what you've described. But sounds like Destiny either didn't want an Open Marriage or changed his mind about it and his wife disagreed. I think when you start with something it was fundamental about a relationship as non-monogamy you can't expect to be able to change the fundamental rules.

I do wonder from your description weather Destiny believed deep down that he was going to be able to convince her to change her mind. I don't know is he all worked up about this or what? People change and if you're going to do some sort of grand experiment with non-monogamy, you should expect things to not be traditional.

Personally I've never understood why non-monogamous even bother getting married. Feminists and marriage are odd bedfellows. Marriage is a patriarchal institution.

Is it RP to be against open relationships now? I think it’s common knowledge those aren’t a good idea. I would even argue that BP is more against open relationships than the RP. From what I’ve seen usually RP men argue open relationships are fine so long as they are one sided for the man or they say “she’s not yours it’s just your turn” implying that all women eventually cheat and/or monkey branch to a new partner. BP folks are way more likely to believe in a “one and only” and favor monogamy sometimes even naively so. The reality of course is any marriage can end in divorce but standard BP ideology would agree it’s way more likely for an open relationship than a monogamous one. So I wouldn’t say his situation proves RP, it’s more and indictment against extreme liberalism than RP or BP because Destiny’s lifestyle is/was completely counter cultural

I've listened to multiple Vids of him describing the problems in their relationship together with my gf, she's a therapist in training and I'm also on the way there (currently in masters). As far as I can tell their relationship was heading downhill because of his blindness to her emotional needs and her inability to argue for them.

On his part because of clearly a very "masculine" mind- if one says something then its clearly the case and there's no need to look underneath it. So when she told him that she's done with the boy she was practically living with, who threatened suicide, he thought "oh ok" and couldn't understand why she'd keep communicating with a dude who's obviously trouble.

On her part it just seemed like immaturity. I didn't really hear her take on it, other than through him, so it's hard to say. But what it seems like, is that her open relationship came with a cost of not being able to demand what she really wanted from destiny- I think this is a common thing in open relationships- rather than demand your partner changes to address your wishes from a relationship, you can always opt for one more person to see if this person can give you something you can't get in the first, and keep em both "happy", as in, conflict free. But relationships are more than just what you get from a person, it's also what you sacrifice, it's essentially a whole process of trying to get what you want from another and see if you can match their demands in turn, this is a process that changes you and your partner, which is why attraction is such a mysterious process, as it overwhelms rational cost benefit analysis of "is It worth entangling myself with this person", and why when a relationship goes awry it can come with deep emotional scars... An open relationship is a way to avoid all of this, probably most fitting for those who don't want to change through a relationship. But I digress.

I suspect that Melina felt the need to have more meaning in her relationship with Destiny but knowing him, his mindset and his lifestyle, she probably felt barred from changing him, so she found a guy who's very dependant to take care of and went into a strongly "enmeshed" relationship with, which gave her much of what she was missing. When Destiny came to an agreement with Mel that she needs to get rid of the new guy, she agreed on the surface level- that him threatening suicide was bad and that he's bad news, but deep down still felt very much attracted to that which Destiny couldn't give her, and I suspect also a feeling of deep resentment for Destiny for not realizing this, not reacting to her attempts at provocation that would signal to her that he cares for what's going on inside her, and also resentment for supposedly "forcing her" to end it with the guy who was indeed giving her something very important still (tho she had no "rational" arguments for it). This resentment is what ended their relationship and after a while of brewing on it, only strengthened her resolve to strike back at Destiny.

I must say I don't see how this falls into a redpill or a bluepill ideology. I've seen cases being made by both sides for it and against it, and none of the reasoning seemed to address what happened in this specific case anyhow.

Saying “no” to an open relationship has nothing to do with red pill. It’s a point of preference. He could have been 100% blue pill and still said “hey, I think we need to be monogamous”.
