First I want to quote a passage from TRP sidebar 'The Manipulated Man'.

It is true that men love women, but they also despise them. Anyone who gets up in the morning fresh and ready to conquer new worlds (with infrequent success, admittedly, because he has to earn a living) is bound to despise someone who simply isn't interested in such pursuits. Contempt may even be one of the main reasons for his efforts to further the mental development of a woman. He feels ashamed of her and assumes that she, too, must be ashamed of herself So, being a gentleman, he tries to help. Men seem incapable of realizing that women entirely lack ambition, desire for knowledge and need to prove themselves, all things which, to him, are a matter of course. They allow men to live in a world apart because they do not want to join them. Why should they? The sort of independence men have means nothing to women, because women don't feel dependent. They are not even embarrassed by the intellectual superiority of men because they have no ambition in that direction

Next I want to link a thread from TRP here. The posters are discussing Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to win the prestigious Fields medal in mathematics. As you can see, they really respect her. For a group that disparages women as a rule, they speak of her with high regard. Compare this to the quoted passage above, or this thread on housewives. Also here is another example where Archwinger dismisses the contribution of his wife to the marriage.

The housewife is not respected. She is not appreciated even by those who claim to value traditional femininity. She is not even appreciated by her own husband.

The woman who are respected are woman who take on traditional male roles like Marie Curie, Ronda Rousey, Margaret Thatcher, and Emmy Noether. Society values acheivement and contribution. It doesn't value simple, humble supportive roles.

TRP blames the influx of 'masculine career woman' on feminism, but they don't understand that this hierarchy of roles was already in place long before feminism. Feminism was in part a response to the fact that the role of a woman was granted no respect nor was particularly valued by society. I am not a feminist myself. I disagree with most of their views, but in this case I understand them.

Now having a career won't make you more sexually attractive to men, but that's not what women want anyways. We want relief from our identity as sexual creatures. We want a new identity that accrues admiration and respect. In other words, we want to be viewed the way men are viewed. To do this, we have to take on the traditional male role. We have to be 'men'.

In light of the passages above, can you blame us? Directly from TRP sidebar, men despise our lack of ambition and independence, so why would you fault us for attempting to be more ambitious and independent? Why wouldn't I want to be Maryam Mirzakhani over than Archwinger's wife? Just look at the difference in how they talk about these two women!

I will probably never reach the level of acheivement of Mirzakhani, but I can at least avoid the fate of Archwinger's wife. At the very least, I have my personal acheivements to fall back on. As a housewife, I would have nothing, not even the respect of my husband. In fact, according to TRP, he would secretly despise me. Again what woman in her right mind would want this?

So in short, if you are lamenting the lack of traditional women, this is the reason why. Women want a new identity that garnishes appreciation and respect. In order to do this we have to take on male roles.
