Oh, sweetheart.

You can see the 'if I just do this well enough eventually it will be given back to me' all over this. Look how beautifully decorated that house is. How well tended it is. That sandwich looks amazing. Homemade coleslaw. The energy she has put into this is palpable. It's so much work. I just want to give her a hug, and tell her it's okay to put her tools down, and it isn't her fault that what she's been sold by society doesn't work.

I look at this and remember how my bf sat me down last weekend to tell me that he won't be able to contribute to the household chores as much, since he had exams and a work presentation in the upcoming week. I was like, "fine, but I won't do much either". I was quite happy to catch up with some series and do some gaming and since we clean thoroughly every weekend I didn't think it would get too dirty.

Next morning, I wake up to the house vacuumed and the dishes done. He kept doing small chores through the week whenever he had a break and I didn't see a huge difference in the amount of work he does around the house, only maybe slightly less. When I told him about it he just said he thought it was fair to let me know that there might be some things lacking. The only thing missing was my daily breakfast in bed, but we're back on schedule with that ☺

I was just like the girl in the video, thinking I have to settle for some lowlife, but oh how I know better now. We all deserve better.
