Ok so to be fair, there are certain expectations for candidates when they are applying for jobs. Sometimes it requires such and such a degree, other times they require a certain 'look' that fits the brand.

There were SO MANY different ways to communicate that she just didn't fit the bill:

"This girl doesn't fit our brand"
"This girl doesn't have the look that we're wanting to represent"
"This girl doesn't fit our needs at the moment"

But no, they decide to go with "Not that cute."

You are a business owner sending a business email. Moreover, the entire BRAND of the company is to empower women...how can you say your company stands for empowering women but in the same breath judge a young applicant as "Not that cute?" And then be dumb enough to SEND THAT EMAIL TO HER?

The blowback is well-deserved.
