Send a message to the university and ask. Get it formalized.

IF they say this is fine - then you can use the women's bathroom.

IF they say it isn't fine - but women still do it - then send another email a bit later - then another email a bit later. And at that point, you can use the women's bathroom, because if they try to penalize you (or anyone else), you have a Title IX case yourself.

Check the laws first, it may be legal to use any bathroom a person chooses.

This is what I used to do in bars when women tried to use the men's restroom.

The bouncers thought it was funny and would tell the women (who almost always complained) they should use the women's restroom and they wont have that problem anymore.

Immaterial. If the women can use the men's rooms, the other should be possible too. Confirm that with the college authorities, and start using the women's rooms. If the authorities say men can't use the women's rooms, then get the rules changed (either both can use both, or everyone can use the bathroom of their gender only). Just because men don't use the women's room, doesn't mean that the college is unfair.

Depending on where you live it could be perfectly legal to use the other genders bathroom. If you lived where i live id just start shitting in the womens bathroom. Or dont, womens bathrooms are almost always worse than the mens. Spurce was a janitor for a short while.

I remember going to Dairy Queen when the men's restroom was out so I used the women's restroom. Locked it so I was the only one in there (it wasn't a multi stall restroom anyways) and some banshee of a mother started screaming at me for using the women's restroom...
She went to get the manager at the time who told me that the men's restroom was out, and I said "I know, that's why I used the other one" but was told to leave.

So yeah, even with an out of order sign we're not allowed to use the women's restroom.

on jobsites where i am, there is a separate outhouse for women. they are issued keys or a combination to the lock on these outhouse to ensure men cant get it. there is no privacy issue, theres no tampon dispenser or whatever. theres a hundred men on the site sharing the same outhouses and if there is one woman she gets her own AND can use whatever ones she wants

Women at my college does this aswell. Even thought there's only an elevatorshaft between the mens and womens bathrooms. While they got 8 toilets in their bathroom while we only got 1 toilet and 1 urinal

I dont see as much of an issue with this. But it all depends on the group cohesion. When I was in university we had separate bathrooms but we treated them like unisex bathrooms because we were a closeknit group. However if someone wanted some privacy that's all we would say and who ever the offending gender was would leave.

If you arnt comfortable with it then speak up its your bathroom you have the right to privacy in it from the opposite gender. Or atleast tell the girls that if they plan on treating the mens bathroom as a unisex bathroom then they have to be ok with the women's being treated as such.

Just because you don't see men using the women's bathroom doesn't mean anything's unfair.

It's only unfair if you use the women's bathroom and get in trouble or scolded for it, while they use the men's bathroom and don't get in trouble or scolded for it.

If you are leaving out a part of the story where a man gets in trouble for using the women's bathroom and the opposite isn't true, well, then you've got a situation that's not fair.

I was in a dorm for a year where each floor had one bathroom and it was agreed upon that, regardless of what the sign said, anyone could use use the ones on mixed gendered floors, but the ones on the floors that had only girls were girls only. We didn’t have any floors with boys only. Maybe try to find out if there is some kind of similar agreement that you just weren’t aware of.

Had this happen to me except with the men's bathroom at my college's gym. Was sick of the double standard and reported it to management.

Didnt hurt to mention that I'm Muslim and as such require to be socially distant to women to begin with. Having a private space like the bathroom violated then became big red flag to them automatically.

They quickly put up signs to the bathroom entrance and women didnt come in anymore.

I use the women’s restroom at my coffee shop when the men’s is occupied. It’s a single room with a toilet so its only one at a time. I dont see why it’s such a big deal and neither does anyone else. Other guys do it too. I’ve only had one old lady give me a confused look one time. I say let it go man. There are more important battles to fight. If you really want to show them, don’t poop for five days and then drink coffee and wait for them to use the bathroom. Then go into the stall next to them and shit a neutron star while moaning and banging on the wall asking for toilet paper

It is interesting, back when I was in college in mid 90s, and a little earlier when my sister was, the gender segregated bathrooms that alternated floors like OP’s situation were very coed in use. Nobody made mention of it. It was what it was.

Now, almost 30 years later… As society is getting a little more “open” and understanding, we are becoming more into gender segregation and privacy/modesty. That change started even before the gender neutral bathroom laws. More recent generations won’t even change in same gender segregated locker rooms at gyms or in PE.

The Montessori style school I went to from kindergarten into my first couple years of elementary, and then again in middle school, only had one gender neutral, multi-stall bathroom. The urinal was also in a stall. This was in the late 70s and the 80s. It was still that way into the early 2010s, when the school closed. We were all used to it, and didn’t grow up needing separate facilities, so I, and most of the other students, are good with any version.

Long story short... I don’t think it is right for women to go into the men’s room and then complain if men go into the women’s room. I also think bathrooms should be general neutral anyway. Like my school and Ally McBeal.

I think the best thing to do is to point out the hypocrisy on this matter. Tell them that if they want a private bathroom like the women one, then they shouldn't feel entitled to use the men bathroom whenever they like if they don't like men using theirs.

My college dorms have a card swipe on the bathroom doors. So if you’re a woman, you can’t go into the men’s rooms and vise versa. And the card only worked on the floor you lived on.

They really need gender neutral bathrooms for everyone in dorms. By that I mean bathrooms similar to “family/disability” bathrooms. This is not a problem in the hospital, nursing homes, stat cares or assisted living’s for male and female employees on a given floor to share the same bathrooms.

They aren’t open stall “peekaboo” bathrooms either. Idk why the US (assuming that’s where you are) feels the need to put half inch gaps all around bathroom stalls but shit. I

I think taking away the gender on bathroom facilities actually will make women safer. No perv can go to the “women’s” bathrooms to stick hidden cameras in vent’s, decorative flower pots, hook and screw fixtures. I know that might not sound like a real issue but it is—especially in hotels, malls, and gas stations. Not just in the US but in loads of places.

If they want to keep gender segregated showers, ok. But I literally still think they should just make each toilet and shower it’s own thing so anyone can use it privately. Dorms in the US are NOTORIOUSLY shitty in their set up for students.

You all pay enough to have privacy and dignity, not that you should have to pay anything at all. UK bathrooms (toilet stalls too) are damn near sound proof.

What you could do is have a friend on the floor that these women are text you when they leave their room then you yourself can go to the men’s then when she walks up to the bathroom door open it and block her way and tell her the she can’t come in and if she asks why tell her that the toilets are backed up and every time you do that make another excuse then eventually she will stop

I had this situation at a festival. Started arguing with the hoes, then proceeded to pee, as other dudes joined in. At one point one of the girls started some female superiority rant, at which point one of the other duded, just grabbed her and tossed her out of there like garbage. That solved it. I like how it snowballed, and I was never blamed for anything by anyone :) Problem solved.

Males have liquid disposal appendages. Females do not. It’s just more of a process for women to pee than men. That’s why there are always longer lines for the women’s bathrooms than the men’s in intermission, even when there are the same number of stalls.
