Some may have been raised by single moms who were abusive and/or some may have had horrible ex-girlfriends who later hooked up with other guys and later became single moms. They probably also see single moms as "useless women" since there is no way they would be willing to get involved in a child's life in any way. There is also that "alpha fucks beta bucks" mythology that they've created for themselves. I also think some haven't had any of these experiences at all and just agree with what redpillers say because it seems right according to their hyper cynical worldview.

Basically they paint all women with a broad brush. While some godawful single moms do exist they never take into consideration that maybe that mom is single because, oh I don't know, maybe the dad DIED. That happens sometimes. Or maybe he was an abuser and she took the kids and ran. Or maybe he ended up being gay! But instead they always assume the worst and assume that the woman was at fault. Possibly because of those aforementioned bad experiences with their moms and exes.

I can speak from experience because my mom was a single mom and she was abusive and I'm pretty sure the ex that messed me up the most is a single mom too now because there's a baby but daddy doesn't seem to be anywhere. Not sure though because I don't have any desire to keep up with people who traumatized me. With that being said I know those aren't all single moms and I'd be deeply ignorant to think otherwise.

It could be a lot of things.

They are jealous the woman had sex with someone and not them.

They think it proves all women are irresponsible and make bad choices.

They hate women and don't like to see boys raised by only women with no male influence.

They see it as a degradation of society since women aren't forced to stay with men anymore.

They may have had bad experience with their mothers, as some have mentioned.

It's easier for some to feel hated for people who are struggling rather than pity, and blame them for being in that situation. They don't like to see single mums getting government handouts.

There is a still a stigma in a lot of cultures against single mothers, even in western cultures.

I think a huge percentage of guys in the manosphere are bitter divorced dudes who can't work out why they were dumped. Hence this whole narrative about women choosing to be single mothers. Also not so fun fact a recent study found 60% of single mothers had experienced DV.

It's a projection of wounds mostly.

Resentment, unprocessed feelings of rejection, past hurt, inability to form a healthy romantic relationship and not seeing themselves as the causal factor of their situation.

There is also a lot of insecurity and not feeling good about themselves. Now all this is projected onto the girl.

"She chose someone else before me" "I couldn't get someone who didn't already have a child" "I feel like less of a man" Etc

It boils down to having their sense of self worth and value tied up to the girl/woman. Her picking him, is in his mind, what will compensate for all this and make him feel good about himself.

He doesn't see the situation as two people who love eachother while having children from a prior relationship. He sees it as himself being undesirable and that he couldn't "do better". Better being whatever boosts his ego, which protects from how he really feels inside.

If he did some real psychological work, he would heal the wounds, stop being needy and learn to love himself. He would then become alot more attractive, confident and comfortable in his own skin. Single mothers would cease to create a strong emotional response in him.

I think they feel being a "single mom" is a result of a poor decision so it's used to brow beat us and shame us. Red pill is evil.

MGTOW see them as a reminders that women are out to steal from you. They think women ensnare men into marriage with lots of hot sex, get pregnant, then turn off the tap on the dad/beta, divorce him and live off half or more of his assets.

Probably most of them came from a toxic single mother household, and had a bad experience with them, so now they think that every single mother is a plague on society who slept with too many partners and now wants the good guy to raise her offspring.

Sometimes the relationship doesn't work out, but not every single mother has had 5+ different partners, some of them only had 1-2 partners in her life, and no they are not riding the "cock carousel" as the redpillers love to say.

Not all single mothers are bad people, some are very delightful and wonderful.

Many single moms who are dating have a policy of "my kids come first," and the men dating them feel like they will always be on the back burner, and never be a priority in the woman's life. They think that they will basically get the scraps.

This is almost identical to how some married men feel like after their wives have children. The priorities become kids, their family, job, their extended family, pet, and THEN finally the husband.

They are also afraid that the single mom will be with them just for their wallet and a roof over her and her children's head.

From my own time in the manosphere, I had a really fucked up view of single moms.

My resentment towards single moms came from the fact that the boys who used to bully, harass and beat me up were extremely popular with women.

It was easy to victim blame domestic abuse victims because i felt they got exactly what they wanted in a man, someone violent, aggressive and cruel.

If women were actually appalled by violent or aggressive behavior in men, why would those men be so attractive? Shouldn't those men be the types that become incels?

No, instead they hook up and date them and then act surprised when the guy who was aggressive towards me is also aggressive towards them.

Women never had sympathy for me when I was the target of aggression, so in my own insecure mind, very horrible situations like domestic violence were just examples of righteous karma.

I realize now that even back then, I didn't really mean these awful thoughts and I was just really upset about my own circumstances and lashing out.

I get upset a lot of people don't take men's problems seriously, I was a hypocrite for doing the same thing to women.

Simple answer: misogyny. It's been a common trope amongst a lot of right-wing press in the UK over the years too. Single mothers get blamed for everything. They would run this idea that women would intentionally get pregnant so that they could claim child support benefits so they wouldn't have to work. Or they were irresponsible for having sex, or they were a terrible girlfriend/wife and that's why her husband left.

It's just this same typical attitude that puts all the responsibility on women. After all it is the woman who gets pregnant, so it is entirely her responsibility to be in control of that. Let's forget that a man has to be involved to make that happen. It's her responsibility to be a good wife and do what her man wants and if he isn't satisfied then it's her fault.

And it also creates some horrible stereotypes about men too. Oh he was seduced by her, she tricked him. Men are just animals incapable of making sensible decisions about sex or protection, it's her fault for exploiting this simple animal who didn't know better. And of course it's right for him to walk out of the family. What, did you expect a man to raise a child alone and take on parenting responsibilities? Ridiculous!

I think a lot of it just stems from very dated ideas of the roles of men and women; women are the carers, men are the breadwinners. Women can't raise children on their own because they have no income. Men cannot raise children on their own because they are not natural parents. Women should control themselves and not have sex. Men cannot control themselves and it's not their fault. etc etc.

Well since you asked.

I refuse to date a single mom, because I’m worried that I’ll inherently treat my biological child with favoritism compared to a step child.

As anyone can tell you, favoritism among children is wrong. And all kids should be treated equally.

However we’re only human. Shackled to emotions and vices.

I cannot promise that I would give a step child the life they deserve. So to play it safe, I just don’t date single mothers.

It’s nothing against the children or the mother. It’s just that I can’t trust myself to be fair if confronted with a situation where I had to make a difficult choice between my own child and that of another.

Its possible that I’m overthinking it, but the consequences of being a bad parent are massive, and I can avoid the whole situation by not dating single moms.

It’s like when you say you can’t be trusted to behave when drunk, so you make a rule to never drink.

seconding so many great reasons here.I think at it's deeper core , seeing single mothers brings up a great fear. It shows a woman who was not able to be controlled and used her freedom to leave and make it on her own. It's evidence women do not need to be dependent on men and can always leave them. For many in RP who view relationships as mainly about power and control, this is their greatest fear.

If women and families can continue without me, where does that leave me/men. It makes them question themselves and come to terms with the notion being a "provider" is not a complete identity and will not provide them with their idealized future. Instead of exploring themselves more and coming to terms with who they are in this new changing world, it's easier to reject the person and cling to old and easy ideas.

In my opinion women are leaving their man/husband for multiple reasons, even with children involved. In general society romanticizes the single strong woman and they are empowered. Some examples of how women are empowered and men are frowned upon;

The many female contraceptive tools gives women the power to prevent pregnancy. Men have not chemical option. There are 2 options for men currently, a condom which causes a loss of sexual pleasure or the long term option as vasectomy. Even when vasectomy is reversed it might still cause infertility.
Men are depicted as weak and aggressive. Notice the paradox, usually weak creatures are not aggressive but rather defensive.
Female promiscuity is normalized, while in whole of history female promiscuity was vilified.
Male promiscuity is seen as toxic.
Modern dating is made difficult for men, easy for women. Simple things as it is free for women, paid for men.

There are probably more, but none that I can think of at the moment.
