So, I've been with my husband for 7 years, married for 4 of them. Our first year together, he took me to dinner and spoiled me. Every year after that it's gotten less and less.

This year, instead of reminding him in the weeks leading up to Valentine's Day, I didn't mention it once.

Last night, whilst he was playing Xbox online with 'The Boys', one of them mentioned V Day, and he yelled out to me and asked, "Oi!? What do you want? I totally forgot!" I said, "Not sure. Surprise me."

He is adamant the I said I didn't want anything. Which, every year, I ask for flowers. I love flowers. Any type really. They make me smile. I have told him this, yet he refuses to buy me flowers. "Because they die! I prefer to spend money on something that will last!"

This morning, he got up really early and went to the nice bakery around the corner and got some V Day pastries, they were decorated with hearts and stuff, and gave the box to me in bed.

I got a croissant for Valentine's Day. A fucking croissant!

Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but it's something we would get on any other day.

Now, this evening, we're sitting on the couch and he says, "You haven't said Happy Valentine's Day to me yet."

Me: Yes I did. When you got me breakfast.

H: No, you didn't. I went to the effort of getting you some nice breakfast and you didn't even say it. No thanks or anything.

Me: Umm, no. I said thanks AND Happy Valentine's Day when you gave me to box of croissants.

H: No appreciation at all.

Me: Are you serious? I honestly cannot tell if you're for real or not right now.

He didn't answer and now he's pouting.

Me: I guess I should have showered you with love and kisses seeing as you're such a sensitive, caring and amazing husband.

H: Yes. So many women would love to have a husband that treats you the way I do.

Apparently, I should be throwing myself at his feet and worshipping the ground he walks on.

Man, divorce is looking nicer and more realistic by the day.
