My last bf made 300k+ a year. Started out wonderful, started subtly becoming more and more controlling and disrespectful. I put him in his place every single time and never gave in an inch to any bullshit, but he still kept at it.

Kept bringing up marriage while trying to convince me to give up my (dream) job and be his housewife. Dumped his ass two years in after I found out he was cheating on me with a literal prostitute. He cried and tried to convince me that it was a perfectly acceptable arrangement. Nope.

He proposed to the next girl four months into their relationship. Guess he wanted to lock down a wife as quickly as possible. She is young, timid, doesn't seem like she has much life experience and is now completely dependent on him financially and socially. I feel bad for her, but that's her lesson to learn. Hopefully he treats her well, but my hopes aren't high for her. I would be surprised if he wasn't still seeing prostitutes.

Better to be single than be anyone's doormat.

LVM always accuse you of cheating. Always. It solves so many problems they have with explaining to the world how they managed to screw up the best thing they ever had.

And I'm totally on board for the "if I have to pay half it turns out I'm paying too damn much" because it fits perfectly with my personal experience. There's just so much nonsense which is only in your budget because of the man you're with. He wants to do this he wants to do that, he wants to eat this he wants to drink that. Before you know it you're paying half of a whole bunch of nonsense. Crate of beer, you pay half and you only get to drink one of them. Oh, but he never wants to clean and cook with you.

LVM will make you pay half so they can save money for the girls they keep on the side... and even if they don't, you can do so much better financially on your own, no matter your income, once you have FULL CONTROL of it.

The worse personal experience I had was a situation with an ex in which I discovered money I gave him for my half of the bills ended up going directly to a girl he was cheating with while 'working' overseas. He used it to pay gas for her bike. (how trashy are these girls?!?!!? just get a fucking job)

Unbeknownst to me, the bills went unpaid. I was patiently waiting at home, being "a good girl". When things were discovered I dumped him and moved to a different country to follow my dreams.

He always used to blame me for spending too much, being too spoiled, dragging our financial situation down, etc. (we were living together) ... we have been apart for 2 years, I have paid off any debts I had and living comfortably within my means now that I have my full income to myself.

He is bankrupt.

If a man is really worth your time he will either enhance your life financially or at the very least not burden you. A man of modest means is just fine by me, but he has to be kind and have a generous spirit. Never again will I spend my time on a cheap man, especially when I can earn money just as well by myself.

There was a post on reddit recently of a woman who had inherited a few million and suddenly, the man was insisting she paid all the bills and put money into a joint account for his use.

So what did the man do to earn her paying for everything for him? Does he think just existing and being with her entitles him to her family money?

People who think they deserve their partner paying for everything just because the other person has more money are leeches looking for the easy way out. People should make their own way in life instead of being sponges.

If a man wants you to pay half, then you can be by yourself and pay all of it. What do you need him for? If a man wants to pay half, that means he’s not supporting you. This has nothing to do with “contributing”.

To those who don’t agree with Pickmeisha, but that she should pay half, remember, Pickmeisha got friends, one specifically Barbara the Builder. While he’s “paying half”, he’s not supporting her or investing in her, but still expects to have sex with her, meals and a clean home. While he’s making twice as much, and saving another quarter by her paying half, he’s saving up for the next women.

When I took trigonometry, we learned Logic. Sis is not calculating basic math.

I think many commenters are confused about this post and I'm not sure why. This man made TWICE what she made and still expected her to pay HALF the bills. This was supposed to be her PARTNER, not her roommate. So she took the damn trash out. A man making TWICE what his woman makes should be ashamed expecting her to go full 50/50. The audacity.

Neither good looking guys (won genetic lottery) or sculpted Greek god physique ( steroid/testosterone/growth hormone) guys are HVM

HVM is one who values you more than his life. Think about Jack in Titanic is HVM ( he has looks but isn't rich ) but at the end he scarificed his life and didn't call Rose a slut for having a fiance.

A man who can't scarifice his money which can be earned again and isn't more valuable than his life or health, for his girl is LVM.

I don’t know... I often earn more than my boyfriends and I don’t want to be “punished” for making more money by being made to pay more than my half of the bills. There are two of us, so it gets divided by two, end of story. If I have to start paying more when I make more, there’s little incentive for me to work so hard to earn more.
