This hasn't fully happened to me yet, but I'm preparing for a situation that might play out so I can react confidently. (Been lurking here for a few weeks, this sub has opened my eyes for the better!)

I've been dating a guy for 3 months. We plan on having sex after the stay-at-home orders lift. We haven't had sex yet.

In the past, I've casually mentioned I don't shave at all. My philosophy is I won't shave more than a man does. It's a feminist thing for me.

I guess he (correctly) assumed I don't shave my vulva. During 2 conversations, he's casually mentioned he really likes performing oral but prefers a shaved vulva. (Though he literally threw in a "I know it's a double standard since I don't shave down there.") Unfortunately I just let the comment slide, but I plan on addressing it the next time it comes up.

On one hand, I understand female pubic hair is more immediate during oral sex than male public hair. No one wants a mouth full of hair. I trim closely and shave around the inner edges of the outer labia. However, I don't think I'm willing to shave the whole region.

He could be totally okay with this. He might not be. I don't know yet. I'm preparing for the latter just in case, because I wanna be confident.

I want the perspective from FDS about how you would respond if he's not okay with me not shaving. Would you break it off? Would you be willing to shave? Something else? (I know I should never compromise myself for a man, but I wonder if shaving is a small courtesy I shouldn't get so worked up about.)
