I remember when my mom told me to make sure to freshen up and put makeup on before my hubby gets home. I understand the sentiment but the idea behind it is bogus.

Moms reasoning: “he’s at work with put together professional woman all day, you don’t want to be the slob he has to come home to.”

Why my husband says it’s not a thing for him (unprovoked, it just came up in conversation): “I love you, not the way you look. I don’t want anyone else because they aren’t you. “

I have to say that one kinda traumatized me in my earlier years.

I’m probably showing my age here but does anyone else remember being raised with the above guidelines? Because I do.

The crazy thing is, I would love to do all of this for a HVM. When you have a quality man, it's normal to be loving and attentive because he's so good to you and you genuinely want to pamper him. And since he's a quality man, he won't even expect this treatment from you and be so thankful for even the smallest act of service. HVM are only concerned about taking care of YOU and making sure YOUR needs are met. It never occurs to them to demand things from you. Just having you in his life is a blessing for him and he gladly will give you his time, effort, money and whatever else he can to make you happy.

But LVM/NVM are trash and expect this treatment while also giving you literally NOTHING in return. Men who believe in these sentiments are telling on themselves how entitled they are.

For what it's worth, this piece been circulating online for decades, has never been accurately sourced and could have easily originated from early chain emails. Something to rile people up and make them feel better about how things are in the present, vs. an actual document from the past.
