They know, but in my opinion/experience, even the good guys are just in a haze of hormones early on and aren't thinking straight. They often fall in love with what they think the woman represents for him, rather than who she actually is. That is okay as an early stage, but in order for it to be love or anything meaningful it needs to develop into something deeper and stronger, and they need to see their partner for who they actually are and accept them.

It honestly doesn't mean anything for me anymore when a guy wants to marry someone they've only known for a while. They all fucking do it. The good guys and the shitty guys. That shouldn't sway your decision.

I was warned that my husband was one of those that wouldn't commit. I was pretty young and wasn't interested in committing myself so I didn't care.

Well, a few weeks in (we were long distance) he took me to the house he was renting out under the excuse of checking something before handing the keys to the tenants. Asked me to have a proper look because I would need to help him decorate OUR home when I was ready. He would give the tenants notice.

A month in he also told me that he would be the father of my children someday (which he is now, I just laughed at the time). The person who laughed at his best friend for getting married with no prenup suddenly acted as if everything that was his was ours (I was a student so had nothing other than an old car that my dad bought me). Any decision he made, even financially was consulted with me.

He always says that when you know, you know...He is always crystal clear to friends when they come with stories about their partners dividing up stuff, sharing bills, not making plans for the future with them. And he also admits that he was like that when he wasn't that interested. And no, we didn't get a prenup and it was never a thought even.
