From 13 years of working with only men, this works really well. A simple head tilt with “I don’t get it?” and look mildly confused while they trip over themselves to backtrack. If it was a “joke”, maybe a “oh I was waiting for it to be funny” for dismissal at the end.

I’ve dyed my hair for years. I reply to all comments and questions like this:

“It comes in box, you can have it too.”

And it’s like magically pissing in their whole bowl of stupid Cheerios.

The big time assholes and pervs are activated into super dumb shit by red hair in my experience. Blonde was bad but redhead brings all the boys to my yard.

This has been a tool in my belt for so long.

Just yesterday some guy asked for my IG handle within the first 10 minutes of messaging with me. He requested to follow and after less than 15 minutes of waiting he goes “Icing me on the follow request I see”.

Like bruh it’s the middle of the workday, we just met, and you’re gonna act this important and insecure? Anyways, I just said “Icing?”. So he then had to explain that how he didn’t like waiting more than a few minutes to see my insta.

I just said “I know that expression, I just didn’t think you’d actually mean that.” Big yikes.

Blocked and donezo. It was over faster than he waited for my follow approval.

This is a great strategy to use with anyone being disgusting or even off-color. It immediately puts them on the defensive.

When I was 15/16 I worked at Taco Bell and had neon red hair (had neon red hair as an adult as well, until I had a job where I couldn’t; it looks fab on on me). Anyway I had some 20 something came through the drive through and ask me if “the carpet matched the drapes” and I asked him point blank what that was supposed to mean and he got visibly uncomfortable and dropped the subject.

Or when you get catcalled, act like you didn't hear them. They repeat themselves, getting louder and louder, until anyone else nearby can't not hear it. Even if everybody else around is more annoyed by the noise than the catcall, they're still glaring daggers at the perp, who hopefully feels like an idiot.
