Lol I went one ONE coffee date. It was at least a trendy coffee shop but the whole thing was pathetic bc we sat there for far too long over a cup of coffee. When he later asked if I wanted to go on a second (dinner) date, he started talking about his budget and said it needs to be affordable lol. He was 41, over 5 yrs older than me. I declined the dinner bc he was so tacky to bring up a budget! Esp since he told me he was planning on getting a Tesla soon. He then accused me of not being interested in him ‘bc of money’. This was before I found FDS, so I responded saying it’s not about money but about tact. I didn’t ask to go to a Michelin star restaurant for dinner, I didn’t request anything actually and I’m a non-drinking vegetarian, so very unlikely I spend much at all on food. If you’re on a budget, understandable, but you’re a grown man and you should know how to pursue a woman for dinner and work within your own budget instead of informing me of your budget ahead of time and letting me know that you can’t spend a certain amount on my meal. He could have just picked something reasonable and I would never know about his budget. So embarrassing. Then I got nonstop voice memos from him going on and on until he eventually realized that he probably went about it in the wrong way.

I wish the women who went on "coffee dates" decided to unanimously stop making an effort and show up in sweatpants and a baggy shirt and sneakers, with unwashed hair and without make up. That's the level of effort "15 minutes in a coffee shop" deserves.

If you want me in a nice outfit you need to take me to a place that warrants that :P

I wouldn't go on a coffee date at all. Unless we're in a committed relationship and going on other dates and it's just in the morning to grab coffee and breakfast, it's a no. It's so low effort, not even about the cost but the effort, it takes no thought.

The paragraph though about her time being valuable and the effort and money it costs her to get ready is giving me life! Love seeing other queens have this mindset and waking up. I turned down a lot of coffee dates. Coffee dates were a high school thing I I do with friends and in college it's where I would meet up for a group project or to study with classmates for an exam! Coffee is something I will take myself out for when I'm shopping or meeting a friend, I'll grab a cup before we start the day!

It is NOT a date. A man that asks you to Coffee as a date is cheap and it's a quick and easy way to know he's LV, BLOCK AND DELETE.

One man that asked me to Coffee said it was because I had ro earn dinner. Deleted and blocked. Took dinner back to my grandmas house and treated her to that meal (she wasn't feeling good I did takeout)

Even before I found this Reddit and was starting to date with OLD I would have never ever accepted a coffee date!

I’d go hard on my friends who accepted it.

It’s trash.

I have never in my life met up with someone who had a romantic interest over something I would say is friendly like coffee.

I have had all sorts of word throw at me because I literally wouldn’t dream of a coffee meetup.

Believe it. Coffee is for friends and chatting. Romance is for romantic situations. Every single time my friends went for coffee dates they were disappointed

I was disappointed many time on my dinner dates. But never with myself.
