I saw this presentation on the stream. Before the fight she said she was going to "own" him (he is a dark skinned male). I think it's disgusting that she would make an oppressive joke about slavery in our modern society. This woman should be held accountable for her words.

Its funny. Women want to be treated equally as men in things like sports, games, military etc. However, when a little bit of smack talk occurs they whine and cry and accuse of horrible things. They cant take even the simplest things and try to change mens nature of competition.

They really are cheapening the word "Rape" with this crap. They complain about people genuinely joking about rape (I know that's not the case in this video) but that seems to be a natural reaction to stupid accusations like this. You know how ethnic minorities sometimes take ownership of racial slurs directed against them? I can see the same thing happening with rape. I don't want to see that happen, because rape is a real issue and we shouldn't become desensitised to it, but I think it's inevitable if this "rape is everywhere" stuff doesn't stop.

However the fallacy here is that a rape joke is somehow equal in evil to actually raping the girl. It's not. It's a joke. It was a poor joke that didn't make me laugh, but nobody was harmed.

I'm gonna be honest--it sounded pretty rape-y to me. It may not have even been something he was conscious of, since rape jokes are so common among gamers, but I think there's some pretty obvious subtext.

Edit: I guess, upon further reflection, that it's possible that I and others who got the rape vibe are biased because we know that rape jokes are common among gamers. But still. Rape jokes are common among gamers. And whether or not this particular instance was an actual rape joke, it's not cool to make rape victims the butt of jokes.

I was totally agreeing with the sentiment here that this accusation is coming out of left field and totally unfounded... But then I watched the video. I have to say, the comment did actually trigger an intense anxiety burst in me. So, in that regard, I can understand why these people think that something inappropriate occurred.

However, I don't think it was as wrong as they are making it out to be. It really just simply warrants discussion: why is it triggering? What is the meaning of this phrase? What can we do to try to not make it powerful any longer?
