So I was catching the bus after school, and the bus rolls up to the 20-30 other kids that are waiting to catch that bus. It stops, but the doors don't open. At first we wonder why, but soon the bus driver, a middle-aged woman of quite a stocky stature, gets out of her seat and blocks the bus doors as they open. The students at the front try to get on, but then the driver begins to call out "ladies first. Ladies before gentlemen." She does this repeatedly, and forces every male to wait as the females filed in, filling all but a few of the bus seats, before letting any male on. I think what upset me the most from this, was the males acceptance of what was happening. Nobody seemed to think it wasn't ok to be doing this, as if it was just natural to give yourself up to women. But don't get me wrong, it wasn't the fact that I was missing out on a seat that upset me, it was the whole 'women deserve more' mindset that drove this.
