Do women ever "date down"?

Please read my post before responding.

When I mean "date down", I mean in terms of status and/or looks.

I've seen couples where the man and woman are at a similar social standing but the man is better looking than the woman.

I've also seen couples where the man and woman are the same level of attractiveness or the woman will be better looking than the man but the man is at a much higher social standing (e.g. professional athlete).

It seems like wherever I go or even on social media, this is the norm.

Does anybody else see couples with similar social standing but the woman is better looking than the man? Or see women with higher social standing dating a much more attractive man? I'm sure there are couples like this but it seems like this is one of those outliers.
