I wonder, will it reinforce the hypergamy style of Pre-industrial times again in the West?

Most people back then married within their villages. Cinderella rarely happened. The wealthy, as far as I know, married women from wealthy families.

Most people magnify a few cases and ignore thousands more.

George Clooney, Bill Gates, Elon Musk... they will never, ever, ever get the chance to go out with women that aren't richer than you - whoever you are reading this comment.

Where do you live where you see a bunch of lopsided relationships with poor women marrying rich men? Life isn’t the “Pretty Woman” movie. I grew up in an affluent upper middle class neighborhood. The male doctors, lawyers, CEOs and engineers and successful entrepreneurs weren’t marrying poor women, I assure you. In upper class society, it’s quietly looked down on if you marry someone who didn’t grow up upper class as well.

This isn’t Hollywood. If you bring a dumb air headed bimbo from “poor stock” (yes they actually use this language) to the country club in the affluent suburbs you will be shunned. These communities have a certain image they want uphold and they’re not going to let anyone ruin it.

The thing is, usually people enter relationships and marry people of similar income level, because people self-segregate into groups of people with similar values and income levels.

In your scenario, the real problem for said "poor attractive woman" is to be near the rich man (doesn't even matter if he is unattractive or not). This makes such a strategy very risky and most will fail at it.

And a lot of the women who would be desperate enough to do so are probably struggling due to maladaptive coping habits (ie addiction or struggling to remain housed), which would keep them from being able to land a rich husband.

I think u/AquaChip response was adequate enough. If anything, hypergamy has actually reduced. This redpill myth that rich men are largely marrying 18 year old waitress bimbos is largely that, a myth. Often espoused by lower middle class/immigrant men in their 20's who don't understand the dynamics of circles of the educated professional or upper middle classes.

Socioeconomic progression also doesn't happen exclusively through simply marriage, it has much more to do with education, parental wealth and financial planning. Lets take the average pretty 20 year old whose perhaps interested in meeting wealthy men. How does she go about it? Is she in the right circles? Can she even afford to live in the suburbs or gentrified inner city locales they reside? Does her elocution represent someone who grew up among affluent children? Whats her degree? Hell, can she even tell the difference between a basic Mercedes that you see half these kids driving and those that, whilst not being supercars, can cost more than most peoples rent (X6's, Cayenne's, 7 series, GLE's)?

Most young women these days have fuck all clue and the ones that do are often privileged and so used to such luxuries that they can't even perceive how attuned they are to discriminating potential suitors based on said attributes. Problem is people look at celebrities, especially athletes. Many of whom go broke after retirement whilst dating Instagram models often possessing the same working class mentality, often divorcing newly broke athlete the moment his career ends.

As men become more differentiated men by classic female attraction triggers such as status, resources, appearance or charisma, the relative weighting of idiosyncratic compatibility declines. As a result, female preference will converge on fewer men, and more men will be left out.

If you have a tribe of hunting men, all the men share the same ethnicity. There is less divergence in phenotype. There are no resources. All men are fit and active and do the same thing: hunt. There is still going to be a hierarchy of competence, which will lead to status. Differences in phenotype will also contribute to this. But the men will be much less differentiated; it will be easier to pair them widely with the females in the tribe in monogamous unions based primarily on idiosyncratic compatibility. Sure, at the top the hierarchy will still be defined: you will know who the leader is, who the best hunter is, and the best conventionally attractive men. They will get the most beautiful girls. But after that, the male hierarchy is much less clear, if not gone. So the next women in line will start pairing off more based on personalities jibing, a guy having the kind of look she likes, etc.

So use that model. Will post-automation become more like this tribe or less? The core hypergamous instinct is always there, and the criteria it uses is flexible. It can aim more at appearance, status, resources, whatever. But if there is less differentiation, and culture is not fanning hypergamy, then women's preferences will become more individual and unique, with less hierarchical convergence.

But we can create strong hierarchies out of many things. Not only was the appearance of the men in my model tribe relatively similar: same ethnicity, similar genetics, all fit and active, etc., but sex was still constrained and thus the importance of the erotic was also checked. In some post-work utopia, with tons of leisure time and resource needs met for everyone, but with perfect birth control, we could end up hyper-fixating on sex and erotic maximization. Sexual capital could become the new money, and a rigid hierarchy of men could develop primarily based on looks, but also on those personality traits that contribute to a woman's erotic experience. So you could end up with incredible levels of sexual/erotic female hypergamy.

Feminism is funded by rich men for this (not only for this). Feminism is a product of rich men. So it's a product of wealth inequality. More inequality means more feminism being pushed in media and by politics (owned by rich men)

It's even more apparent if you look at trends, who is getting richer ? Rich dudes due to growing inequalities, and poor women due to feminism. Since women are more attracted to men earning 20% more, but these men don't exist in sufficient quantities anymore (because women got richer), then you have tons of women that can't find anyone. It makes rich dudes more in demand. Which is what rich dudes want.

No it wont, at the macro level employment is a demand side system based on capital not commercial need. Those greedy profit making capitalists are the ones hiring or demanding jobs, not the end consumer that needs a product or service that is just as happy to be served by a robot if he gets 10% of their subscription. Some weird millenials and younger would actually pay more to not deal with people.

The change from horses to engines didn't kill driving. The switch from farms to industrial processed food didn't decrease the amount of people hired in the food sector, it actually blew up if you add logistics, vendors and more recently delivery people. The digitalization of law books, accounting, banking expanded the number of people employed in those sectors, and even democratized them.

Yes, individual jobs, especially gate keeping jobs and positions that are based on knowledge processing and routine outputs - like article writers for your glossy mag website - will become utterly pointless and a waste of company money. But that just saves money on useless brain dead English and journalist graduates while shifting budgets to differentiators like research staff or OMG - original content!!! So, yeah, it will kill jobs, but none that are actually worth a damn, and people that are idiots, will just find some other place in their economy where they can mouth breathe and contribute the bare minimum to society.

Now, as a memesogynist myself - obviously I think a lot of "creative" or "legally required" jobs that millennial women or boss itches gravitated to for a easy slice of corporate big boy pants are the ones cut. Men tend to not be able to suppress impostor syndrome that well, and kind of find ways to help their company. Women just use the time between reading their emails and actually doing that single task of the day to chat around, consume memes and clickbait. So I think there's gonna be a big expectations readjustments as a lot of up town girls realize corporate isn't really worth the squeeze as they will rediscover their matriarchal calling once the corporate checks stops coming in, but the rent does. Happened during covid, every boardroom boss became a baking boss, overnight, tempting every tom dick and jenny indoors to taste their pie, and have a some cake in between muff dives.

There's still a sizable amount of middle class women that desperately want a certain lifestyle or children, so they have to go after a man of certain means to see it through since they can't achieve it on their own.

Competition wise, if you map a woman's chances on a bell curve, they are best if the required wealth cutoff is as low as possible with the fat part of the bell curve as far to the right of (above) that requirement as possible.

But income inequality means the bell curve moves left, while the requirement cutoff moves right (due to rising prices and the woman's own lack of wealth). So instead of 65% of men meeting the bar in the 1960s, or 50% in the 1990s, only 35% of men meet it in 2023.

Competition gets more intense and hypergamy explodes. As women get disillusioned and fail, or even not even bother trying ("childfree" movement), they turn into genetic dead ends and are replaced demographically by young traditional minded 1st/2nd gen immigrant girls who are going to compete even harder with even more hypergamy.

No, if anything I expect an intensification of hypergamy focused on looks and social status and financial status to continue receding in importance. Part of this that many of the Western proles, petits bourgeoise, "PMC" etc will continue on their downward economic trajectory which has a "flattening" effect on class while still being comfortable enough that no one needs to get in relationships for survival (or more importantly to challenge the system en masse). The rich can do whatever they want and be successful as usual, but they will be the few for whom economic hypergamy dominates.

Many people have simply given up on/do not value the middle class idea of family and without that (or economic desperation) they really have little need to select partners based on historical provider roles (which have become gender blurred in any case).

The West is more or less "locked" into it's current system and values, it won't shift until these generations are wiped out (i.e. through low fertility) and replaced by generations in a new system with new values (which may or may not mean "Westerners" are basically extinct as a distinct group).

No. I think some western women project their poor financial decisions onto average men, especially in the their 30+. I've seen so many "boss babes", spending half their income on high end rent, profligate spending with nothing to show for financially. She has no choice to not settle with Mr. Average because she is financially broke with no assets. Her demands get higher but her value in the eyes of men that she wants diminishes. Modern women have to be more masculine and plan 10 to 20 years ahead and be emotional and financially disciplined but most are not. Some modern financially broke women project their insecurities on men and men shouldn't feel bad about themselves because of this. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Mentally ill women getting used for a place to stay by lazy or even criminal men. irl I don’t think this issue is as “gendered” as it’s made out to be on here just from personal observations.
