You're struggling with this thing called "Gender Essentialism."

Trust me, its not real. There's no magical, mind-independently-real Essence Of Masculinity/Form of Masculinity, or the corresponding for Femininity.

There are only sex stereotypes/expectations (which are socially constructed and normative), and valid empirical abstractions based on population-level tendencies of each sex (which are descriptive abstractions that may be valid or invalid depending on the data underlying them).

This is why you call yourself "genderless" - because you know those Essences or Forms aren't real.

This will probably get downvoted but I’ve got to say it.

Unless you are born with a mix of parts between male and female, you are either one or the other. You do not need to act, dress or conform to the traditional traits of your gender, (this is the freedom of the west) you can act as you wish. You can also have physical surgery to change your biological parts to the opposite gender however you won’t be able to have biology children.

But no op, you are either male or female snd that is fact. Your feelings are irrelevant to this fact.

Go to a farm. People say that bacon comes from here. But where is it to be found? Point to that animal, is that bacon? Nope. What about that one over there? Not bacon either.

Sure, after we kill a pig, and cut it up, we can set aside some of it for use as bacon. But that is a social construct.

Because gender is made up…sex is the only important thing and other than what parts you have it isn’t prescriptive for your behavior. Yes lots of people fall into the stereotypes but many don’t. Most people like a mix of both masculine and feminine things. I love dresses and pink! I also love mud and bugs (I want a pet tarantula so bad!!) and deep sea fishing. I’d rather watch a war documentary than a romantic comedy. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone conforming to gender norms if that’s what they really enjoy, it’s only an issue when it’s an enforced gender norm.

It doesn't make sense because... gender doesn't actually exist. It's something that social sciences made up. Biological sex is what actually matters and it's objective.

With biological sex there is no confusion because you are either female or male.

I'm very hetero cis so I don't really know but I guess it's like when you are a cis woman like me but doesn't feel like doing the whole performative femininity (dresses, make up, crossing legs, etc)

You’re confusing gender and sex. Gender non conforming is someone who identifies as their birth sex but doesn’t conform to gender expectations associated with that sex.

But because gender is a construct, it doesn’t matter if they aren’t or aren’t. That would be like identifying as a good person, and but being a bad person. People identify as various societal constructs that they don’t actually adhere to all the time. Look at all the idiots in govt who identify as good Christians and then get arrested for pedophilia

I think it all depends on what you really base your gender on. I identify as a woman, but I don't have a particularly strong attachment to my gender. They told me I was a girl and I never felt the need to question it. I do some things that are traditionally feminine, but a majority of my behavior is masculine.

Also, gender expression doesn't ALWAYS have to conform to societal norms. I feel particularly girly when I have my nails done. But I also feel particularly girly when I take my birth control pill so I can continue avoiding pregnancy (something that is very much a societal norm for women).

There are two sexes. Each sex has a biological function associated with it, and a social/cultural function associated with it. The biological functions are fairly rigid but the social cultural functions are more fluid, and this is what people mean when they say gender.

Gender non-conformity exists when someone does not adopt the social/cultural expectations associated with their sex. Identity has nothing to do with it.

If you have male genitalia, you're male. If you have female genitalia, you're female. If you have a type of intersex variation, then you have a type of intersex variation, most of which lean more towards male or female instead of being perfectly between.

How you choose to act will affect how people percieve you, but it won't alter who you are. If you want to fit in, conform to the common expectations of the sex you look the most like. If you don't care about fitting in, then do whatever you want. There will always be people who judge you no matter what you do. The only thing you have much control over is how much you blend into the crowd or not.

My hot take is that people fixate on gender identity instead of figuring out what they want socially and how to get it. If you want to express your individuality, you have to sacrifice blending in and fitting in and the benefits that go with it. If you want to fit in or blend in, you have to sacrifice expressing yourself as an individual and the benefits that go with that.

All that to say, any idea can exist. It just might exist in a way that you aren't seeing from the perspective you have.
