By now, a lot of women probably know that most men prefer light to no makeup- a “natural look” rather than formal or gaudy makeup. Despite this, many women still express that they feel pressured to wear makeup, either because they are insecure about how they look, they want the approval of their female friends, or because of cultural norms. Some women just do makeup because they enjoy it.

However, as time goes on and we continue to see evidence that women are less attracted to men in general than men are to women, it seems that makeup has had an effect on this. Men aren’t attracted to women because of their makeup -most guys will fuck anything that moves- but a lot of women seem to feel that since they put so much effort into their appearance (in this case through artificial means like makeup and fashion) that men should too.

Part of the thrill of being chased in traditional dating dynamics is that the woman feels like she is the prize. To feel like the prize, often times a woman must feel like she is more attractive than the man chasing her, and that she can only be won over by great lengths. Makeup artificially inflates this in many cases when the overuse of makeup crosses over from attractive to unattractive, but the woman still perceives her time and money spent on her appearance as “above” the man, who doesn’t feel the need to wear makeup.
