No. While improving your health can make you more physically attractive, self improvement is mostly about developing healthy habits that make you more appealing to other healthy people so you can live a good life.

One of those “healthy habits” should be “rejecting people who aren’t healthy or compatible with you.”

Red Pill used to agree, back when it preached about Nexting and Abundance instead of “men are oppressed and women must be stopped!”

Self improvement is no issue. I go to the gym specifically to look and perform well in bed. I think it’s kind of a dumb fad to pretend that people don’t go to the gym to look and feel sexy.

I think there’s purity culture on the right and the left, and what you describe is an extension of left purity culture. Purity culture on both sides frames sex as inherently harmful to women, and implies male sexuality is dirty and degrading while female value is tied to their sexual choices.

I’m a sex positive leftist, so I disagree with purity culture and don’t see why anyone should feel bad for working out their cum gutters.

There’s nothing inherently bad about wanting to be attractive and find a partner, and it can be pretty motivating. But if it stays your primary motivation and you prioritize it over other more sustainable and empowering goals, you’ll probably burn yourself out and it’ll make your self esteem more fragile.

People are also usually good at picking up on when someone’s self esteem hinges mostly on impressing the opposite sex. A lot of people find that to be unattractive because it makes you seem vapid.

No. Literally not at all. My objection to TRP is that it blames the current desolate dating landscape on women’s essential nature (hypergamy, women are only attracted to the top 20% of men) rather than dating apps, which seems illogical to me given that in general 90s and 2000s women’s rights were more or less where they are now, but the coupling crisis only started when apps came onto the scene. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with getting fit and socially cool and joining activities and churches and whatever to have sex. I think most people do that. I certainly do.

Self improvement (gym, wardrobe improvement, learning game) will improve your chances to get casual sex or a relationship, that's for sure. On that blue and red pill are generally in agreement.

Sleeping with a lot of women after doing all this self-improvement is great if that's what you are into.

My issue with the red pill is the misogyny.

As someone who has both slept with a lot of women and who has literally self-improved (ex weed addict ->now working out 4x a week and haven't been high in 8 months) i think using women as motivation will burn you out quick. You need motivation to be centered truly around yourself and your own betterment/health.

It's a flawed mindset if you're doing it just to get laid because it's not going to guarantee you get laid. It's directed to many men on this sub because they view their entire lives through the lens of what will or will not get them women. I wouldn't say the problem is that it's not genuine, it's that it's not healthy.

The other issue is that red pill frequently scorns non red pill advice because it doesn't guarantee success, but yet intuitively understand that going to the gym will help while not guaranteeing success, so in that sense it does come across as hypocritical bad faith rejection of anything that doesn't fit into the red pill world view.

No, it's not bad. As long as the effort is genuine. What i mean is better illustrated on a "niceness" but i'm not talking necessarily about it. Some people learn to think differently, and some think that they can perform niceness and people should reward them for it. But more often than not it's fake, or not enough to "give reward" and those guys are angry as if someone promised them pussy for saying "good morning".

Then there is another issue of "game" being simply manipulation in a bad way. So yes, that could also bring negative reaction.

Of course not. Similarly, I like to suggest people find hobby groups and do some volunteering. Even if you're just trying to meet women, the worst case scenario is you make friends or do some good. And it improves your character and mental health, which ladies also find desirable.

Working on a lucrative career and a gym body are just as win/win.

No but I do it because I care about my appearance. Dating women was a side effect not the main goal for improvement.

Generally I carry the opinion that you yourself should want to improve and not because of some outside factors. It seems hollow and unmanly to me if you only do X because you want to impress someone.

Its not long lived either, imagine getting into a long relationship with a fitness girl for example and then she can watch you detoriate because your motivation was access to pussy not because you share her fitness/health mindset. You basically lie to people.

It’s not bad, although it isn’t especially healthy. Self improvement should ideally be something that you do for yourself, not others who may or may not appreciate your efforts.

Will self improvement help your chances? Hell yeah. Will it guarantee success? Not at all. You have to be realistic, and a lot of guys don’t see it that way. The reality is that there are a million reasons why you might get rejected, and sometimes it’s not even about you in particular. Not having success doesn’t mean self improvement is worthless.

Not even mentioning the intrinsic value of getting fit and developing a sense of style. Just being physically healthy and feeling more comfortable in your own skin is a win that is too often overlooked.

Most people that try to phisically improve do it because of that, at least in my opinion. I don't know a single person that did not get benefits from being more attractive.

I know people that are literally socially stunted but they got attractive and now they are "misterious".
