Fertility rates are dropping in countries like Japan, Europe, the US, Australia, etc. The US has hit an all time low in particular. Much of this is due to increased standard of living, lower child mortality rates that need less children, and financial concerns. One cause is that as women become more educated they have less children. Lower fertility rates will have economic consequences and will necessitate more immigration to first world nations. But there is the argument that fewer children will mean less strain on the planet due to climate change. This seems more like neutral politics material but since this does deal with women's issues and society which the TRP and others on the right worry over, the issue seemed relevant. What can be done to increase the amount of children born in first world nations if it makes sense to do anything?
