People want others to agree to their own concept of what they think is “fair”. So this is why the people on this sub and many subs on Reddit complain so much about the opposite sex. Fairness is a concept entrenched into contemporary western society.

Of course, what people think is fair comes from a biased perspective.

A member of the opposite sex giving dating advice is akin to a food critic. They may know what they like, but they know nothing of the effort and skill required to create the end product.

the issue with this argument is that it reads very much like “its all manipulation so it really doesn’t matter” - which, if you wanna go the moral absolutist route, sure, it is. But humans inherently aren’t moral absolutists and moral absolutism is also one of the worst philosophies to use to justify anything.

Now with the second bit, I think you ultimately need advice from both genders imo, because both sexes fall into the trap of being so into their pov that they don’t see what the other sees, so listen to both sides, and evaluate what specific pieces of advice fit your individual scenario best

there is no real manipulation, its just people afraid to state what they want clearly. a real man can ask a real woman if shes down for sex, yes or no. same thing with a relationship. ppl are afraid of yes or no questions so they speak indirectly

To me, sites like this are more about people comprehending the realities of hypergamy, state of dating, various perspectives, etc., than pushing an agenda. It’s incredibly unlikely I’ll ever date anyone here so there’s no purpose in being manipulative and I imagine that’s true of most here. That said, there are clearly some here whose sole intention is to bash the opposite sex.

In terms of real life dating, when the manipulation comes into play it either ends or the relationship ends. I’ve walked away from several relationships when they became manipulative.

Depends on what you mean by serious.

In some ways I do, and in other ways I don't.

However, it has at least to be taken somewhat seriously considering women are absolutely mopping the floor with men when it comes to beating them at intersexual competition.

Men's "manipulative arguments" at this point are really just balancing the scales from women's favorable position.

I don't give into manipulation, but most people give into women's manipulation pretty easily and only recently some side with men. That's the problem women dominate the manipulation side.

You ask why? Because they can't help it. People try to manipulate because it works. There are people who are bad at manipulation, they fail. Others are good, they succeed and get what they want. Same goes for the other side: some are bad at detecting manipulation and those are the ones who you are concerned with. Other, like you, are good at detecting manipulation and they can't comprehend why others are so stupid.

Men are logical. If something works that's what they do. If something doesn't work, the advice given doesn't work and the one giving the advice doesn't follow it... Why would men listen to it?

Testosterone in the brain processes signals differently than estrogen. And when it comes to processing emotions, testosterone is quicker and more efficient. Hench the long acknowledged stereotype of men offering solutions when women just want to talk about problems. Men process the emotion, look for a solution to change the situation and act on it. Vs a woman going in circles over and over and over again over something the man had a solution for in five mins. Then she never solves or acts and simple fumbles around the next emotion and the next and next. Until something bad happens and she's forced to act.

So who's better to provide a solution? The one who literally takes action and acts and builds a system that leads to progress? Or the one who sits around waiting for others to act and complains that solutions and action being offered are manipulation?

Women have all the power and choice without any effort more than ever and literally struggle harder than ever to make a choice. Yet men are able to make choices with 1/1000th of the resources available to them.

Facts don't care about feelings. Neither does logic. And expecting those who don't take action to lead us stupid. No matter how much they complain about being led.

Because I thought society was more reasonable. I didn’t expect that when women started saying “men aren’t allowed to talk to us” while society constantly is telling me I should believe everything women say… that I could just disregard that and value my sexuality anyway. I genuinely didn’t know it was an option.

I really want to be a good person. When women use the shame of human history with words like misogyny, they are ensuring that conscientious men like me will hide away somewhere. When they use that moral authority and apply it to the smallest things, I can’t help but be affected because I’m a moral person. The behavior doesn’t make sense to me but here we are. I guess I didn’t think something as significant as the oppression of women would be used to manipulate men for nefarious reasons would happen- I expected better from women. I expected more honesty and genuine commitment to humanity and progress and harmony.

When women say these things, the media machine and cancel culture backs them. That’s what makes it so hard to disregard. I thought western society was more reason-based than it is.

I don't think most people do.

The majority of this will not affect peoples behaviors in a big way, largely for the reasons you point out.

While at the same time it is good to discuss and I think most of us here actually have a better understanding of many issues than we would have prior to participating and at least are forced to think slightly more critically relative to our natural positions.
