Or you can do both? I can set up a few midweek dates (planned, cheap- hikes or beach or just a drink, high probably of some success) AND leave Friday and Saturday for normal social activities.
Many girls just aren’t at the bars/clubs getting turnt every weekend
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link
What do you talk about on dates ?
Never been on a proper date
[–]Napalm_in_the_mornin 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
FORD. Family, occupation, recreation, Dreams. Basically, all the things people do in their free time (or at work). Keep it positive though!
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Could you give an example of a question that wont make it sound interview like
[–]RXisHere 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ask things like "how do you feel about...."
[–]Napalm_in_the_mornin 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
“How was your summer, do anything fun?”
[–]Zvne 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Wanted to reply to give an alternate acronym I've switch to recently. HEFE
Hobbies
Entertainment (Music Movies TV)
Food
Environment
I find FORD to be just a tad outdated and not all that exciting, talking about one's family or job. Definitely get to it but for first date HEFE is the way.
[–]Napalm_in_the_mornin 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is a great acronym for dating! Could you explain Environment more?

What do you talk about on dates ? Never been on a proper date
It's not really what you talk about so much is how. You can follow whatever acronym you're interested in. But it's no good without proper follow-up.
When the other person is replying to whatever FORD topic you've asked about, you have to focus 100% of your attention on what she's saying. (Among other things, you shouldn't be planning what you're going to say next while she's talking.)
Then when she has stopped talking / responding, you can think a little bit about what you just heard, pick something out of it to follow up on, and go deeper into that topic.
It's really good to follow up on something she just said, based on emotions (how she feels/felt about something) or motivations (why she did something).

[–]Paltenburg 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
What do you talk about with friends? Same stuff
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Dont have alot of friends. But when we are together we dont talk that much. I feel im boring and dont got shit going on. I kind of rely on my friends to have something to tell
[–]Paltenburg 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Right!
Well if it doesn't come naturally to talk about stuff you can also take tips like from that other commenter (f.o.r.d) to have some handles to talk about something.

Cool thanks.
The thing is back in my young days, when i was fit and had good hair and confidence i could talk and "seduce" without thinking. Now i got fat and bald and have read so much shit online that im to in my own head to even do the most basic small talk
[–]PeakyAndre 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey man! Thats a great opertunity to feel interesting again! Go outside for a run/walks start working out and dieting, everyone’s trying to get in shape again, and so should you my guy! If there is something you don’t like about yourself - then change it. And also try to not define yourself as ‘boring’. Everyone has a story and experiences - none of which are boring.

[–]RussianBoa 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Even in the recent months? Chicks seemed to stop swiping right on me as of recent so I'm rebooting Tinder. Are you have good results on tinder or elsewhere?
[–]PandAlex 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I never use Tinder. I recommend Bumble, Hinge and CMB.
[–]Synth_Lord 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've been using Hinge with great success. That app really rewards you if you connect your instagram and you posts great pictures.
[–]viknasti 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm in the midst of a wonderful relationship with an amazing lady I met on Bumble in 2019. I hope this happens for you, and others, as well
[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
been on and off them since college, 4 years now, the cycle goes like this, i put my pics, i get 0 dates, realize that im not that good looking, then cursing and blaming the app for it and uninstalling it.also most of women there seek instagram followers only.atleast in my country most of them just want more followers so they use it as a marketing tool for their insta
[–]huskypotato69 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Where are you from?
[–]Canadian-Seductioner 49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
1) only the case if you're an unattractive and/or uninteresting person
2) this is true
3) more common on tinder than bumble or hinge, but not really an issue. Just ignore them.
4) only true if you can't get results. If you've got a good look and profile however, it's very low effort compared to what you can get out of it.
5) never pay for the apps, it's unnecessary
6) that's true. Ideally you should be focusing on in-person game and only using dating apps in your spare time to supplement it.
7) see #4
[–]CloutComputing 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
In my case, if I'm not paying, I don't get matches.
When I pay for platinum, I get 1-3 matches per day if I swipe on 100-200 girls. Better than nothing, and I'm not overweight or ugly necessarily. Just not hot.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm lazy pay for premium to not have to swipe as often
Why wouldn’t you simply wait a week and swipe on those that liked you?
[–]CloutComputing 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I barely got incoming likes. Maybe a handful. 99% of my activity was outgoing, unless I switched locations on the map. Even then there were only a small handful (2-3 likes).
And most of the women were attractive to me incoming and outgoing!

With all due respect to your dating app experience: none of these are facts. Peep game:
So yeah - I'm all for meeting women in person, but I think having the skillset to meet them online (or any other avenue) is important. Reality check: some of the women you'd meet on dating apps can be quality women that you'd never run into in public, so they definitely help widen the scope of what's available to you.
[–]iTAMEi 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Something I find useful about dating apps is they keep my texting skills up.
[–]Keanuisawesome69 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Op is a 🤡🎪
I disagree.
I've had A LOT of disappoinments, but this year, I slept with two different women and made out with another within a 2.5 month period of using it...
Best run so far...
I've given up at least 5 times prior... Got in better shape... Learned what and what not to do on dates, etc.
Plus. I don't have a way of meeting single women.... Most women I meet in real life are taken....
Actually. Nevermind. If you guys don't use online dating, more for me!!!!!

I've heard most dating apps are total sausage fests anyway. I tried a few but the only women who DM'd me were either hookers or scammers. I got sick and tired of wasting my time and trying to weed through scammers.
[–]Grallmab 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would say anyone, even successful users, should limit there use just so that you're in the mindset of cultivating social skills and a good social circle. Limit by how much? Up to you to decide

[–]Whooomans 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I disagree.. however its best to not rely on them but use them in addition to what you said. Gives you more opportunity to meet someone.
Also you wont get lumped in with desperate apes if you take the time to make your profile standout, just as if you would make yourself stand out from the rest of the desperate apes in public.
[–]fvckCrosshairs 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
the apps are great to have on the side or when having a dry spell but shouldn't be your main source ever, most girls I know use it for validation and to just chat when they're bored.
[–]l1ght- 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For those that inherently disagree with this, I’d just say that yes, there’s a time & place for dating apps. But if you’re spending more than an hour or two a week (most of you are spending way more,) then you need to cut that shit down
[–]zenmastaflash 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with the overall mentality here. In my personal experience, it became gamified and I lost interest in meeting women and found myself just swiping endlessly; there was no real self improvement.
I also feel like dating apps, as well as pornography, led to unrealistic expectations that were never truly met. I’d meet a woman and she’d look different from her photos and it was over for me.
I think it is natural for people to choose the most flattering image of themselves, but choosing dates based on their curated images left me demoralized and lonely for the better part of a decade of OLD.
I quit OLD last winter and almost immediately the quality and quantity of my interactions improved, if only because I no longer had the crutch of chatting with marches, so I was encouraged/forced to go out into the world to meet women.
This provided a necessary nudge for me, and I will never go back.
[–]ShyShredder 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In my experience it has been pretty much a waste of time. The feedback in real life about me has been pretty much only positive, I get looks from girls all the time, smiles, eye contact, and have been told multiple times that I look good. But on dating apps I get a few matches, then they run out and nothing for a long long time. Or the matches I get have been pretty shitty, rarely do they text back, and when they eventually did, those conversations went really bad. (I checked their profile, looked for something to point out and then asked her about it) Although it could simply be that my profile was shitty, since I am not too photogenic and it surely shows. (Like I learned how to actually smile with teeth a few months ago, I have never done that before) Anyway, I found that instead of trying to fix a profile I decided to fix myself first. Approaching is not a thing yet but I am definitely working up the courage to do it some time. We'll see.
[–]FlanneryODostoevsky 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Anyone who is having shit luck on dating apps id advise to talk to 10 strangers online and then 10 in peraon. You'll see how you feel before you even get to 10 in person. You may not have much success but youll feel much more comfortable in your own skin and to me, thats really why i even look at this section. A lot of men need work on feeling more comfortable for being who we are. Full stop.
[–]Sultmaker_9000 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You can use dating apps as long as you have game and not using it as a way to avoid cold approach. I've had at least 20 women in bed first date 4 hrs and very much under that. I'm not throwing that away.
[–]MauPow 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]gmahogany 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s not demoralizing if you don’t make it
Yeah, but odds are best using both
Don’t be stupid
Don’t spend all day swiping
True. Hinge is the only one where free works just as well as paid IMO
Why are you saying it’s one or the other? But yes there is a false feeling of productivity sitting on your couch swiping when you could be outside
Yeah, true.
[–]GravyOTS 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Unfortunately, the people I'm going to meet are not nearly as attractive as the pictures on tinder. Which makes tinder the more attractive challenge to tackle. We could write a book about how our entire world broke down fundamentally when introduced with online dating.
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]Synth_Lord 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Go away from Tinder that place is a fake profile mine. I use Hinge and have never in my years of using it have come across a fake profile. Although I have seen revenge profiles of girls nude or in unattractive/ugly pictures probably made from angry ex boyfriends or people that might hate that girl.
[–]Paltenburg 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It could be a major distraction.
Or a good way to build up experience with women.
[–]lpploj 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What even is the point of this? It just sounds like you’re insecure as a result of perceptibly low success on the apps and want the people you WISH or THINK you’d match with in real life to get off the apps so that you can meet them, and have a better chance with them, IRL.
[–]YetzirahToAhssiah 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i made an account on blk and got 99+ likes in less in 24 hrs and it’s bout 2 weeks later i’m STILL bout to delete this shit 😂 the woman on there it seems impossible to get any where with & i’m not even looking for pussy i’m just lookin for people to hang out with, boring women that have can’t hold conversations, won’t message you first & have no interest in getting to know you, (even tho they liked your profile???), lmao from somebody who gets traffic on these apps it’s a complete waste of time and energy and the vast majority on there prolly have no intention of talking to you more for than 3 days
[–]staynelaley 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I say use both! It only feels terrible if this is your only method.
The upsides of apps:
-see more people who you may not have ever met in your friend group or at the store or club
-helps your conversation skills over text, which is important nowadays.
-can get you more potential dates if done right
-you’re probably more likely to actually meet someone who is your type and has specific things in common as opposed to simply choosing based off what is physically close to you.
Downside:
-meeting someone irl and catching that spark in person is so much better. There are people I’ve met in person who I’ve been attracted to but if I saw them on an app, I would have swiped left. Their personality, voice, mannerisms, and our chemistry played more of a role. Which is a reason you should maybe include a video in your profile if you can.
-honestly, if you aren’t attractive, you’re going to have a hard time. It’s not nice to hear, but if that’s the case you’re better off just honing your social skills. Its not hopeless for you if this is the case. But you really need to work on confidence and social skills. There was a guy i was hooking up with for a bit who isn’t conventionally attractive at all, but he gets cute girls bc he’s very outgoing, confident, dominant, funny and fun to be around.
-it does create a false sense of options and makes you think the grass is greener on the other side.
As far as fake accounts, it’s certainly possible. But I see a lot of genuine people on there too. Some people might just be inactive but still showing up.
[–]TheSunshineMan -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The reason why dating apps don't work for you and 99% of the other guys in this sub is only because you don't know how to use them correctly
If you don't know how to win, you lose.
[–]justaregularguyearth -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree. You are at the mercy of the dating apps algorithm, it’s not even fair. They boost you so that you pay for the membership and then they stop the boost until you actually buy one. Dating apps would be better if they didn’t suppress profiles based on “attractiveness” because ultimately it’s in the eye of the beholder, but if the beholder can’t even see your profile what’s the point?
[–]PlantainLow8715 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can’t paint the canvas with a broad brush. Dating apps can be useful if you use it properly and have good pictures.
